What does everyone think?
I'm not too sure about this. I personally think that it would be a good experiment- to a degree. and I'm not just talking the view that the game goes into when you use an item without z targeting (although this is still good but can be improved on). I don't think that the whole game should be in this format. I'd prefer to see certain parts of the game in this format such as: 1. Minigames - I would love to see some sort of FPS minigame which involves the use of the wii-remote in a way which no other console can emulate (ie arrow/target practise, swordfights or even a fight with arrows, epona, swords and items - kinda like medieval extreme paintball or something, or a tournament of some sort) 2. Mulitplayer - Either online or normal. I think this would be wicked - especially if it was a one-on-one fight. Even some of the minigames above could be expanded and made into a really cool multiplayer mode. 3. Some puzzles - A few puzzles which would be much more difficult in the traditional zelda view would be made heaps easier in this format. 4. Swordfights - I'm talking miniboss/boss fights and things like that. Zelda would be awesome if the swordfights were FPS. The wii would make great use of this too! I think that having the whole game in FPS would ruin it. However, I think that having it as an optional view would be a good idea. I would prefer that the game be in 3rd person view for the most part so that you still have a traditional Zelda feel but I think it would be interesting to have FPS implemented somehow. With the wii's capabilities, I think that so many really great things could be done in this format. For example, so many more things could be done with the blade, lots of items would be able to be used in very different ways, the world could be explored in a very up-close and detailed way, and players would feel like they were really in on the action. I can't think of anything else to say but i think that this about covers it. If anyone else has any ideas or opinions, I'd love to hear them!

Re: Should the next Zelda have FPS?
Um...rrrrriiiiiiiiggggghhhhhhhtttt. Anyway, have you noticed that when you aim the bow, you enter 1st person. As for the rest of the game, no. First off FPS means first person shooter. In Links world, aside from bows and slingshots, there isn't much to shoot things with.
Sword fights. Link uses a sword for the majority of the game. If you try doing a sword fight in first person, you get a piece of crap. Red Steel proved that. Mini games. In pretty much every 3d Zelda they have target ranges. They are in first person when you are aiming. Are you happy yet? Puzzles. There are puzzles in which you aim at a target to open a door. You aim in 1st person. There you go. As for multiplayer. They shouldn't have it at all, much less in 1st person. Multyplayer Zeldas have sucked. Don't get me wrong FS and FSA were great games....if you were playing by yourself. However, in multyplayer it sucked. You hade to have tons of GBAs, games and link cables and the whole thing probly costs $200 to do. Even if you eliminate the costs, it was boring. Wow, me and my friends spent $200 to fight over green rupees:glare. That was definantly worth the money.

Re: Should the next Zelda have FPS?
I think it would be fun to do parts like shooting the arrows, and maybe the slingshot more like and FPS. I hated not being able to move around while I wasn't locked on. You know, sort of like Oddworld.
But other than that, no. |

Re: Should the next Zelda have FPS?
FPS Zelda? Hm, interesting, but I don't want Zelda to become the next Elder Scrolls. However, if they decided to allow you to choose between first-and-third person when you use items like the Bow or Clawshot/Hookshot, it might work.
