A dissapointment...

Expect the next Zelda on the home console to be a bigger failure than TP was. It's going to be crap unless there's something new.

The next Zelda needs something new or it's going to be crap.

Re: A dissapointment...

What are you now, Mr. Icanseethefuture? Okay, first of all, who said TP was a failure? I've not even played it yet, and from what I've heard it sounds like a great game. Second of all, you have absolutely NO idea what Nintendo have in store for the next Zelda, there are millions of possibilities. And third of all, you don't need to swear twice to get your point across. Not to mention your topic post is weak.

I didn't think TP was a failure in the terms of a good game...but it did fail me in the terms of appealing to a hardcore fan.

Yes. What he said.

Also, think about it; it's pretty obvious that the next home console Zelda will have something new.
However, saying that, something new won't immediately make the next Zelda a brilliant game.

Twilight princess was not a failure. Just look at its sales. As for something new, the Next console Zelda is going to have to be built around the wiimote fully, unlike Twilight Princess, which was, as we all know, for the gamecube.

Re: A dissapointment...

TP wasn´t a failure at all, but keep in mind that a game like OoT (which is in some opinions the greatest LoZ) can't be easily achieved by another (newer) LoZ. Keeping that in mind Nintendo has to give it all to create a good game. But afterall if you could see OoT as the first 3D LoZ it is difficult to get to the same quality-level as the first one. The quality may become better with the years but the nostalgia from the first game will never disappear nor being overrunned.

Re: A dissapointment...

According to my knowledge I don't think TP was a failure but I agree that they need to change I few things for the future Zelda game, change the formula a little bit which was what Miyamoto said that after TP it will undergo a few major changes, maybe voice-acting who knows. Comparing new franchise games to its older classics is a hard thing to surpass due to the fact that OoT was the greatest game of its time and the future demands change and innovation.

And the point of this thread?

Also, if game of the year at most if not all notable review sites means a failure, I'd love to see what you call a sucess. Change things yes, Twilight bad NO

So... you play Gollum first, now you play the Oracle?

First off, TP wasn't a failure, far from it. Second, you have no idea what Nintendo has to offer for the next Zelda. Third, imnovation has never been a must for a game to be good.

So yeah, I think you should shut up. You're not going to be popular or anything by creating this thread you know.

Well, w/ games like OoT you must also keep in mind that it was one of the first of 3-D games, where you could explore the territory free reign. Most of OoT's popularity stems from the fact that it was a revolutionary way to play video games. Not to mention it had a good story and great classic Zelda puzzles.

From all I've heard of TP, it rocks, both on the Wii and for Gamecube. Don't know for fact until I play it though. ^^

Where is the reasoning behind this?
Commercially, TP was far from a failure. And although I can't change your opinion, I don't believe it was a failure as a game either. DakZhul perhaps put it really well even though, as a hardcore fan myself, I adored it. I just can't help but think that it would have been so much better if I wasn't so familiar with the series.
Though I do agree that Zelda needs a change. Well, maybe 'needs' is a stretch but I would certainly like one. I think the next installment should have a sizable twist in the gameplay conventions, while keeping the overall structure; anything that would give it, in someway, a different feel. And it needs a storyline outside the main arc- that's probably my biggest wish.

*sighs* This is a misreable low for you Ganon the King. "TP sucks" is all I've been hearing from you lately. Well that's not true, you can't speak for everyone when you say "TP is a dissapointment", this is just your bias opinion.

Re: A dissapointment...

First of all, predicting that a future game will be a failure based on an opinion of a current game is really a pretty weak argument... Especially when nothing substantial has yet been revealed about the next Zelda.

Secondly, TP was not a failure--simple as that. There are people who were disappointed in it and even greatly dislike it, and that's fine. But for TP to be a failure, there would have to be A LOT more of them.

Thirdly, Nintendo doesn't need to tear the current Zelda style to shreds for it to remain a good game.

To Ganontheking: I just have one thing to ask... If you think TP sucks so much, why is it that Midna and TP Zelda are both in your sig? It seems rather illogical.
