Zelda 300

Just found this one on Youtube, this guy use the audio of 300 and combined it with Twilight Princess footage. It's pretty cool.

Re: Zelda 300

Nice video. It got me thinking about having voice acting in Zelda. I think, if done well, the next game should have character voices. In TP I hated having to chose between watching the characters animations or reading the text. I can't do both at once so it was always 'watch them, then find out what was said.' Very annoying.

I think good voice acting would add a ton of atmosphere to the game, especially the cut-scenes. I can just imagine some of the dialogue between Ganondorf and Zelda. Even if Link is mute, everyone else should speak IMO.

I've often said that I think voice acting would be a great addition if done well, but it would ruin the game if done poorly. Some bits in the video made me realize just how powerful VA could be if done well. In the cutscenes of TP, I often felt like I was watching a silent movie--the atmosphere, characters and music were so well-developed that it made the lack of voices that much more apparent.

Voice acting in Zelda is a touchy business among fans, and I wonder, if voice acting were ever included, whether there could be an option to have text-only as well.

Re: Zelda 300

Heheh, that was pretty cool. It matches the game pretty darn well.

Since it brings up the subject of voice acting, I'll just put in my opinion, here.

Voice-acting could be great, but, in my opinion, they should refrain from having Link talk. I've always thought that it would be great for Ganondorf or Zelda to talk, but not Link. It would be great if they kept that little "Strong, silent" hero tradition.

However, that would only work if they didn't let the English version's voice acting suck. That is what happens to alot of import games and television shows; they get cheap, easy voice acting.

I agree, I actually had this idea where it would show Link talking, but instead of having a voice for him, a narrator would say what Link was saying.

Example:

"Link, have you seen the children?"

(Link starts motioning like he's talking)

Narrator: Link explained to the Mayor that the Children were safe in Kakariko Village, under the care of Renado, and that there was nothing to worry about.

I don't know... that would be way too weird, something like a take for kids

Re: Zelda 300

The video was good, but I'm stil not sure about vice acting for Zelda. Perhaps it COULD be introduced as a optional feature.

Re: Zelda 300

That video is awesome. I really need to see 300, and I've just been successfully convinced that voice-acting would be a good idea for a future Zelda game.

What if we didn't name him Link?

Re: Zelda 300

Works for the narrator (technically), but not for the Mayor.

"Our Hero, have you seen the children?"

...no.

Maybe they should take that option of re-naming Link out...I dunno...It would certialy help out those noobs who still think Link is named Zelda, though.

Re: Zelda 300

That's awesome! But don't let this convince you that VA would be awesome in Zelda. Movies get way bigger budgets, and in general movies have better voice acting. Few games, and none that I've played, have movie quality acting.
