LOZ remake, what do ya think?
I downloaded the original LOZ on my we and it is a master piece and often over-looked. Do you think that they should make a remake of the original LOZ? I for one would like it for sure.

Re: LOZ remake, what do ya think?
I would appreciate a version of it that makes sense, with coherent dialogue, in-game Impa, and some sense. As far as gameplay mechanics go (like stabbing sword), that stuff should be left alone. It should play the same, but with some attention to story and some truly spiffy looking graphics.

A next-gen LOZ. That would bring so much hype! Old school players would love that! But only as long as its good. If someone screwed up a remake like that, people could get angry! No one likes it when people get angry.

Re: LOZ remake, what do ya think?
I think a remake would be cool, but only cool if they didn't cut time from the *new* Zelda game(s) to make it. With movies having remakes every year now, believe me, past games will be remade to accommodate the new consoles. It's only a matter of time.

Re: LOZ remake, what do ya think?
A 2D remake for the Nintendo DS would be ideal and far more appealing than Phantom Hourglass. Like Metroid Zero Mission, the first game was so primitive and open that tons of additional content could be added. You'd have the same basic structure and "plot" but everything else would be redesigned and enhanced. It would be wonderful.

I'd rather have an original game on the Wii. A remake, which should be in 2D to be at all similar, would be more appropriate on DS. Give it the "Zero Mission" treatment . . .

Re: LOZ remake, what do ya think?
Nah, if you're talking about a 1:1 remake, then better not. I have seen examples of popular games being made years later with advanced graphics but in the end became a tremendous flop, which I couldn't understand because it was essential exactly the same (plot, gameplay) just with larger dungeons. Nintendo should channel their manpower to creating new games, and leave old games in nostalgia land. (p.s the remade-game mentioned above was a Taiwanese turn-based RPG popular in ~1995, I don't think anyone here would know since it is foreign, but it was an iconic game in our region)

Re: LOZ remake, what do ya think?
Redoing the entire LoZ game in 3D is unncessessary. Although, it would be absolutely amazing if they reintroduced the landscape of LoZ, as well as the Norther kingdom of Hyrule (as seen in Adventure of Link) in 3D form on the Wii...on a brand new game with a new story, characters, villans, etc.

But I agree with ALTTP: that game would be quite interesting converted to 3D, especially with the Pegasus boots. That's one game I'd definitely buy.

Re: LOZ remake, what do ya think?
Who says it has to be a 3D remake? It could easily be given the "Zero Mission" treatment.
Think about it. LoZ is a very primitive and open ended game, just like the original Metroid. A DS remake in the similar vein and spirit, but with updated technology and so much additional content as to render it an entirely new game (but holding the same tenets and premise as the original) strikes me as very appealing--far more appealing than say, Phantom Hourglass (which seems to place most of its emphasis on ass).

Re: LOZ remake, what do ya think?
Two things:
1. Adding a dimension to this game sounds like a fan-project to me, but not something Nintendo should try. 2. A reiteration of the game would be awesome insofar as it provides new details for canon. It is really hard to figure out where to place LoZ in the timeline with so few clues.
