The effect of future Zeldas on what's canon
You know them, you love them, they're our very own... canon resources! They're the very lifeblood of Zelda games. Without them, there would be no end to the unusual games that people could think up... like the Future-Zelda game April Fool's Joke? Without canon that could be a reality.
But with every new game that comes out, our top canon specialists here at ZU have to rewrite the laws that are supposedly written in stone. What if next game you can play as Zelda? Or even Ganondorf? Think of how that would undermine Zelda as you imagine it. What if Zelda becomes an RTS, like the ever-so-popular Command and Conquer series by Westwood? Nintendo could one day go... "Gee, I think we should have a Zelda game where you find out that Albert Einstein invented the Goddesses in order to combat the Nazis during WWII, and that everything that has happened ever since then in the Zelda timeline was one big opium dream, and then at the end of the game Link wakes up!" And that would cause a cacophany of mayhem and madness down at the canon office, as every textbook on Zelda canon that has ever been written has to be re-writ in order to fit this new game... Some people may think that I'm crazy, but it's possible. Post your thoughts below.
