Question The Spinner in future games?

We all remember the look on our faces that we had when opening that chest in Arbiter's grounds. The Spinner was one of the most original items thought up by the Zelda creator's so I decided to post on it. Did you like the spinner, would you like to see it in future games, and if so, what would you change about it?

Re: The Spinner in future games?

I thought the spinner was quite fun to use during the fight against Stallord in Arbiter's Grounds but other than that I didn't use it as much. Definitely not my favorite item in the game. If they do decide to put the spinner in the next Zelda, they should at least increase the speed on it. I hated that when I was just fooling around on it, it would slow down after 5 seconds.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

It was one of my favourite items. I'd like to see it in the future with some more uses. I mean, come on; that battle against Stallord was freaking awesome. Imagine racing people on it, coasting along giant canyons, on a scenic track over lake Hylia even... so many possibilities. Maybe one that could glide over water infinitely, it would be faster than swimming.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

The Spinner was my favorite item in all of TP. Yes, it should reappear. And we better be able to use it more often, too. And, lordandy: Great ideas! They should hire you to work for Nintendo. [well, maybe that's a bit too far, but you know what I mean]

Re: The Spinner in future games?

Well it looked like Link was riding on a beyblade so original ehhhh. Anyways I agree it was my favorite item for the moments it was used. After arbiters grounds it basically has no use besides in Hyrule Castle and in one place in Hyrule Field. It should definately make a return and include things like lordandy mentioned.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

It shouldnt re-appear. Its idea has been totally used. If you consider the reasons that the clawshot (hookshot) was bought back - its multitude of uses for latching onto things, propelling yourself foward, snatching things from enemies ect, and then compare that to the spinner, it is clear that the spinner would have to have a bit of adaptation without just being a total replica of the spinner in twilight princess. The item just isnt as univeral as other items that have re-appeared in the Zelda series. The item would need changes and more uses.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

Yeah, the Spinner was totally COOL! I loved it! I would love to see it reappear in another Zelda game. Apart from having so much fun with it while fighting Stallord, I also go to this one spot in Hyrule Field that has a few Spinner tracks and I ride them for fun!

Re: The Spinner in future games?

yah i would love to see the spinner in future zelda games. but they should put it where you would have to use it more often. they should also have tracks at hyrule market where you could go to one spot using the spinner like, sort like the monorail, and maby even some race tracks.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

I thought the spinner was the best idea for an item ever, at the time. Then 5 seconds and fall off. Imagine my face.

o_o <- Yup, thats it

I was looking for guides on the internet on how to REALLY use it, and how to make it fast. But no, it really was as crap as it was in the game.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

the spinner was a very original Item brought in Twilight Princess, but aside of using it in Arbiter's Ground and some other exclusive Areas, you never used it again.

I think that if they consider bringing the spinner back, they should add new features to it such as, I don't know, probably using magic power, or probably fuel, to propel yourself superfast through Hyrule field, like as fast as when you go through the rails beating Stallord during his second face (a Floating head).

And, well, you could probably throw it at enemies, and then mounting on it by running to it?, like a skateboard, or I don't know, some new features.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

Aside from Arbiter's Ground, I only used the spinner to cross ice

I wouldn't mind it being either way. It was very cool to use the spinner to get up a large staircase very quickly, perhaps there should be tracks on more of these fangled "staircases."

By the way, why do we keep calling it the spinner? It is a friggin' Battle top!

Re: The Spinner in future games?

Like some people have already said, there needs to be more uses for it. Here's a quick chart:

Spinning around and moving fast on little grooves in the wall = Awesome
Little grooves in the wall = Pretty much nonexistent outside of the Arbiter's Grounds

Spinning around normally and attacking enemies = Awesome
The time you're allowed to spin around while moving at a decent speed = not enough

Overall usefulness = almost none

So, Spinner = yes. But there just needs to be more practical uses for it. Maybe, while on the spinner, doing a spin attack with the sword would boost if forward after it runs out of spin. Whaddya think?

Re: The Spinner in future games?

Be nice if it was a more functional weapon. Make the enemies tough, and you could having link riding on that while swinging his sword....now that would be cool. It would be like battling on horse back...but a little slower...and of course lower to the ground.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

The spinner has potential, but needs tweaks. (also, we should have double grappling hooks rahter than claw/hookshots, whose with me?)

Nah. I really loved the idea of double clawshots, it was one of the most awesome things in TP. That being said, I also hated the grappling hooks from WW- seemed kind of lame. Maybe a clawshot that could double as a grappling hook... a double claw-hook-grapple-shot! Oh baby!

...Or maybe that's just shoving too many ideas into one item.

I just liked the swinging mechanics. Kinda gave me ideas for swining over chasms. (I may be watching too much Ninja Warrior - awesome show)

Re: The Spinner in future games?

I reckon it should return. It's a good idea, but badly implemented in TP. Make it faster and able to keep going up and down hills, able to float across water and even fly for a few seconds, and you're on a winner!

Re: The Spinner in future games?

I was dissappointed: As soon as I got it, I rushed out of the Arbiters grounds, found the nearest bed of water and tried surfing.

Yep, I was annoyed.

I think you should use lantern oil as fuel for it so you can surf around temples faster, as it might just be me, but link ran pretty damn slow in that game. I would turn into wolf link and dash because he was so slow as human.

Re: The Spinner in future games?

I completely agree with Taledin, the graphling hook seriously was a well though-out item/piece of equipment, but I assume that if Nintendo would construct a Double Graphling hook, that Link may take over Tarzan's role...
Which would be stealing.
