Ideas for the next storyline

I've seen a couple of threads that kind of hint at new Zelda ideas, but none where people really give any creative storylines that they'd like to see (they've all been really vague anyway).

So, I'm curious. If you were writing the next storyline for the next Zelda game, what would it be like?

I'm not sure what I think the next Zelda storyline should be about. I've heard some talk of playing as Zelda, but I'm not sure that would work. Although it would be kind of fun to play as Zelda for some parts of the game.

I look forward to seeing what everyone can come up with!

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

i would like to see something that hints to the conection of multiple story arcs. Like a "Hyrule history" book that you can flip through.
Also something about the prophesy i made up, which seems to hold true for all Links. about a Young Hylian boy, Without parents (No Link has ever had an on screen Mum and dad, that are living by adventure time), Musical in ability (Nearly every link has shows the ability to be musical in one way or another). That will save hyrule, or something lame like that.

As for actual storylines, ill leave that up to Nintendo, but i would like games that join the dots in the timeline(s) up abit more.
Because we have 3 games that are now deffinatly "decades after Ocarina".
A link to the past
Twilight princess
Windwaker
Now what falls in to what timeline (Split timeline theory).
In short, i want a zelda game that helps to clear up this annoying "Split timeline" Because noone knows what order any game comes, other then the fact that Ocarina is first or near the first. and after that theres Kid link which goes onto Majoras Mask, and No link timeline with Ganon imprisoned.

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

...I can't say my plot here. It would break all the rules this forum has it's that great.

Let's just say it involves Chuck Norris, pimps, hoes, Janet Jackson and kool-aid. Yeah.

Nah, I really do have a storyline I'd like to see done, but I'm too embarrassed to actually post it.

LOL..hmm the ultimate battle between Link and Chuck Norris sounds pretty cool . You should post the storyline you're thinking about! You never know, maybe Nintendo reads this stuff and you'll get a huge pay off for your cool storyline

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

Here’s my idea for a new Zelda game.
1) Setting:
Hyrule would be split into 7 main islands, one at the center and the other six surrounding it. Each one would have a dungeon, distinctive climate, race, and mode of transportation.
Forest Kokiri Horse
Desert Gerudo Camel
Fire Mountain Goron Big Horn Sheep
Snowy mountain Yeti Llama
Swamp Boar Deku
Urban Taxi Cart Hyrulean
Grassland Antelope Sheikah
The Zoras would occupy the surrounding ocean landscape, would include an eighth dungeon, and you would use a canoe. To get from island to island, you’d use this canoe (like the one in TP fishing hole, not a talking one like WW).
2) Story and theme:
Hyrule is experiencing a drought. This negatively impacts most of Hyrule’s citizens and their respective environments, but none as much as the Gerudo’s. Since they live in the desert, water is more valuable than rupees. This causes the Gerudos to attack Hyrule, led by Ganondorf’s puppet. However, Ganondorf is the cause of the drought. This is the cause of a (the?) Great War. The Gerudos win and Zelda’s family is reduced to a symbolic monarchy (like England). Link is a Kokiri. Time period: after WW (I think?) because the Great Ocean has slowly drained.
The theme (like Oot was music/time, WW was wind, and TP was animals and parallel worlds) is control of water. Link gets a drum that controls water. Player control is by playing a beat w/ the wiimote and nunchuk (ex. 2 hits w/ wiimote, 1 w/ nunchuk, done 3 times would make it rain on that spot (a la Rain Song from Oot). Other powers could be controlling water’s matter (ie change from solid, liquid or gas); Links warp would be to evaporate himself and rain to the new warp spot; detect and uncover underground streams, use water attacks (like at full power his sword attack would include a flying ice pick projectile), and changing the currents in the ocean to get from island to island (like ww but changing current instead of wind).
3) Gameplay:
The last dungeon would be Hyrule Castle. The dungeon system would be more complex, as the first 7 dungeons would be linked in series. Example: You defeat the mini-boss in the forest and get the bow and arrow, but get stuck cause you need the bombs from the fire mountain. By getting the bow, you can now get the raft to get to fire mountain and get the bombs. But then you need to get the mirror shield from the forest boss to get to the boss of fire mountain. But, you can go to the desert dungeon because you have the bomb arrows. In other words, you could play the game in different sequences.
And of course, more side stories, recreational activities, collecting poes or skulltullas or whatever, smaller islands to explore, and the ability to go back a re-fight bosses and mini bosses. Also, I’d like the return of magic to a degree slightly greater than in OoT and the History Book Idea is great. Finally, difficulty settings would be ideal to control the hint system, enemy health/damage/AI, and other things.

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

I would want a game that details the horrid genocide of most of the Zora. It seems to be coming up in the history that I can see. It would be epic, with two kingdoms colliding and vying for power. There would not be a happy ending, for the Zora would swear vengeance, go on to spewing fireballs, and be hurt by Link. This would be gritty and not very pleasant when it comes to gameplay, for Link would probably be forced to murder some sentient beings.

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

My ideal Zelda game would be scrapping the main idea of Zelda and throwing it right out - the godesses, the triforce and everything.

-No royal families or anything
-Completely new races too (Yeah, we all love the Zoras, Gorons and Ritos and all that but it's time for a change... Okay, maybe the Gorons..)
-Horsecombat and a lot of the gameplay could be based around horse-combating and questing. I'm not asking for a massive overworld but something that is a little bigger than TP's, not seperated by too many trails (just a few trails in the north maybe) and a lot of gameplay should revolve around questing and helping people and saving people.
-A new art style and graphic's style as unique as games like TWW and Okami is needed for the game to feel fresh.
-Storyline: The game's storyline doesn't need to be well-developed like an RPG but the game should have a lot of powerful meaning and the storyline should impress the audience like no other storyline has before.
-Zelda should not be a princess in this game.
-Link's green tunic (Hero's garments) should have no meaning at all. They are just his clothes and that's it. Maybe it could be the fashion from the area he lives in and he has to explore other areas, or migrate, who knows?
-Ganondorf should NOT be in the game. It would be extremely dull like TP. The Ganondorf concept worked well in OoT and then TWW and that was it.
-However, GANON should be in the game. Maybe he could be like some sort of hell spirit, similar to how Jabun in TWW was the spririt of the seas, Valoo as the spirit of the sky etc. But because he's very evil he shows himself to the people of Hyrule/Hylia as a God and "the" God and tricks them into giving him ultimate power. Then maybe at the end of the game when you finally find Ganon and destroy him it's hinted that there may really be godesses. Maybe Zelda could voice-act it and it could make a really epic ending cutscene with Link riding off into the distance. I don't know, anything that is similar to what Zelda is, but isn't like OoT or TP or any of the other Zeldas

But I don't know, whenever I turn OoT on and watch the opening scene before you select your file I think of the game being like heaven. The music is easily the best piece in Zelda history and it gives me a sad feeling. TP strayed off from this in a way that I'm not really too fond of even though it tried to be so much like OoT.

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

Hmm..some pretty cool ideas! I really like the idea of having different modes of transportation. I think that would be pretty fun . I don't know if I would like Zelda to drastically change (no triforce, goddesses, or royal families). I suppose they could make it work and make it into a really fun game, but I'm not sure if I would feel like it was a Legend of Zelda game.

I don't really have any ideas for the storyline, but I would really like it if after you beat the game, you got to play an "aftermath" of sorts. You get to play in the Hyrule and surrounding areas after you save all of them from ganon or whoever. I never seem to go back and play in the games that I have already beaten, so I'm not a big fan of just seeing the clips in the credits..I want to actually do something!

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

I'd like the next storyline to be like Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask, in the sense that it should abandon the main story arc- no Triforce, no Ganondorf, no history of Hyrule (in fact no Hyrule). MM offered by far the most interesting story, so I'd like to see more of a side-story in the next Zelda. Perhaps a continuation of TP Link's adventuring in a different land, in the way MM followed the Hero of Time into Termina.

And am I the only one who thinks it would be interesting to see more technology? I'm not talking futuristic- but maybe it'd be cool to see Zelda enter a kind of industrial age with early manifestations of technology- like steam engines for example.

Well one of the reasons I love Zelda is because of the time it is set. I love the swords, horses, knights, royalty, and even the paganism creates that Zelda feel for me.

I'm with you there. Make the next storyline another one of Link's personal journeys. Away from Hyrule, no Zelda, no Ganon and no Master Sword.

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

I would like to see a new storyline where Zelda and Link are both playable....in a co-op type of way...I believe Zelda is a great fighter in TP it does show that she has a sword but she is also wise and resorts to her magic...but if that would be the case i hope nintendo would put alot of effort in making it real good and not to ruin the Zelda style....that would a interesting though

i recon this can be done right, i meen normaly Zeldas right there with you in the final boss fight these days. Helping you out with her magic from afar. (Well in OoT, tWW and TP).
I dont see a reason why you couldn't play as her for a few bits, but the majority of the game should be link, as always.

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

I would love a completely new storyline. New villain, new sacred blade for Link to wield, new power besides the Triforce, and the like. It would make a cool new change in the Zelda series. Of course, there's the FS saga, but let's do something brand new!

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

Here is mine.

Starting off as a baby with an abusive mother and father, who 14 years later get arrested by Hyrule, who in an absence of a hero, is now ruled by Ganondorf. Then Link has his spiffy quest through the Earth, Water, and Fire dungeons, because the three keys to the family's cage are in those. Link has the companionship of a friendly Poe this time through. After finding the third key, Link is kidnapped by the Gurrudos (or whatever it is called) and is robbed of the keys. Link then must do a favor for the Gurrudos and destroy the "Demon" (Phantom Ganon) that has been terrorizing them since Link was 8. After that, he gets the keys back, and phases a new enemy never before seen in any of the games before (Phantom Zelda) when he reaches Ganon's Mansion. Zelda is appearently with Link's family. After killing PZ, he walks up to Ganondorf, who turns out to be none other than.....Skull Kid (from Majora's Mask! Remember though this isnt the Hero of Time Link, this is the how about.... I dunno Link. A NEW LINK!!!) After facing a new threat, and all that, Link smiles at his family and they live happily even though they were abusive.

The End.

So your saying Zelda is Zelda just because there is a royal family, a triforce and godesses in it? I don't think so.

MM is Zelda just as much as any other Zelda game. It had no princess of Hyrule, no godesses and no triforce. The same for LOZ and all the other games that haven't got a triforce, a princess or a godess. Your opinion biased maybe?

Remember something: Change is good.

Re: Ideas for the next storyline

Well, I get the Zelda feel from the Zelda games that have the royal family, triforce, and goddesses in it. One thing to remember it is my opinion. I know a lot of people like MM, but I was just giving my two cents on the topic. Change can be good, or can be very bad.
