Link's Tunics

Well i've given it some thought. Tunics are essentially one of the most important items in some games. In most of th 3D games you will find that you will find it near impossible, if not impossible, to progress without certain tunics. The 2D games just provide armour, but still, you would find the game difficult without them.

Imagine how you could make the games more insteresting by incorporating new tunics into the game.

Yet, the possibilities, the potential, with the tunics is not recognised by nintendo. In TP there were 2 alternative tunics to the original. I think that is pretty poor, considering how many ideas you could have with them.

Heres a few I came up with...

Tunics would rock especially with added features. Here is some ideas I came up with...

the flame tunic makes you less susceptable to fire attacks, and enemies recieve extra damage, but if you jump in water, you cop it straight away

The Wind tunic is kinda like a Rocs cape, but doesnt let you jump. In air currents, you will be blasted along and you walk a lot faster than you normally would, however any physical damage you take does triple damage. Magic attacks like Wizzrobes do normal damage.

The forest tunic lets you blend in with plants, so if you stand still for over 5 seconds, then link will freeze and if near bushes or trees then enemies will ignore you. If not, then you are a living target xD. Also, fire would slay you completely

The shock tunic means any enemies you hit get knocked back more than usual and when hit by enemies that knock you back, you arent actually knocked back ( like darknuts) However, your movement is slowed. Not so much as with the iron boots and ball and chain, but you just generally walk slower.

The shadow tunic lets you blend in with shadow, so if you walk into the shadow of a building then link will go grey and enemies will not see him if he remains in shadow. Only works with objects with arge shadows, like tree's, walls and buildings ect. Could essentially be used as part of the game. The catch is that staying in shadow too long drains your health, so you gotta be fast with it.

The desert tunic lets you freely move on sand without sinking, however you stand out like a sore thumb when not on sand and enemies will see you from twice their normal range which means more fighting for you. And water will pwn you to no end

Bait tunic emits a huge purple aura around you, drawing all enemies in the area to you, so in hyrule field, every enemy in the section you are in will come to you.

Repel tunic emits a huge red glow around you and enemies will be swarming away from you when approached. Useful when low on life, but consumes magic to no end

The steel tunic makes you a lot less hurt by physical attacks, by 1/3 less damage, but you are lots slower and electricity will end you

Energy tunic is the opposite of the steel tunic, and it allows you to walk through electricity without getting thrown back ( though you do still get hurt, but only by 1/4 of a heart at a time) and it makes you move a lot faster, but physical attacks will snap your spine. Literally

Rock tunic is similar to the steel tunic, in that attacks hurt a lot less, but this time damage is reduced by 3/4 but your movement is further impended to the speed of an armoured darknut. Standing next to rocks will make you invisible to enemies until you move.

Ghost tunic allows you to pass through certain walls, and remain invisible until you run out of magic or unequip it. You cant attack in ghost form, and big drops still hurt.

Thats all I can think of for now.

So how do you think new tunics could be incorporated into Zelda? Would you want them to become an essential part of gameplay, or just a nice feature? Post your ideas here, and any ideas you have for new tunics as well.

Re: Link's Tunics

I personally think that would make the game too easy.

Re: Link's Tunics

You would have to work hard to get them, and they all have drawbacks.

Re: Link's Tunics

you should add more backlash:
Flame Tunic-Can't wear outside of lava pits
Wind Tunic-Can't Use items
Forest Tunic-You recieve double damage if enemy walks by and touches you
Shock Tunic-Depletes Rupees
Shadow Tunic-You recieve double damage if enemy walks by and touches you
Desert Tunic-Can't use items
Bait Tunic-The enemies get stronger with attacks
Repel Tunic-If you attack an enemy, you are knocked back, and the tunic uses twice the magic, but does not work.
Steel Tunic-Shields are unuseable
Energy Tunic-If you take out your sword, while walking through electricity, you die instantly
Rock Tunic-Shields are unuseable, You recieve double damage if enemy walks by and touches you
Ghost tunic-You recieve triple damage if enemy walks by and touches you

Remember, those are just extensions to the backlash.

Shock Tunic-Depletes Rupees
Only when hit. The Magic armour was awesome to wear, it looked cool, but it ate rupees like mad. I only thought it would take rupees when you took damage. So thats what the shock tunic should be like- only takes rupees when you take damage.

Ghost tunic-You recieve triple damage if enemy walks by and touches you
Well, no. The whole point in those two is to avoid damage. The rock tunic makes you walk iron-boot slow, and the ghost tunic makes you unable to attack and eats up loads of magic.

Re: Link's Tunics

I meant when he was hiding and enemies unknowingly touch him, remember that causes pain to Link. Do you have any more problems with my ideas.

Re: Link's Tunics

Its not problems, its making them better.

Transformation tunics would be cool. Like say Wind tunic lets you control a bird for a certain while ect
