Phantom Hourglass... MPH???

If you have played MPH (or Metroid Prime Hunters for those out of the loop), then you know how horrible the single player section was. Had to visit every planet twice just to get what you needed... Plus no story. It sucked... big time. With that interview saying you had to visit some islands twice... I really hope it's not like MPH. <groans> I hated that game. Sure it maybe Zelda... I'll still get it... but it might be the first Zelda I wont like. Please don't be like MPH!

Re: Phantom Hourglass... MPH???

I seriously doubt it will be like Metroid Prime Hunters; they're two different genres of games, and also developed by different teams.

The Zelda series has always been very good about reused locations, such as the Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time, and even Windfall Island in The Wind Waker. We're in good hands, don't worry.

Re: Phantom Hourglass... MPH???

The online gameplay was absolutely unique for a FPS handheld, it was the redeeming factor of the whole thing, but once people broke that, it lost it all. But there was nothing there. It was boring. It was a Duke Nukem mach up. Metroid Prime and MP2 weren't anything like MPH. The controlls felt clunky. Even with the stylus which was the better of the two options.

MPH wasn't terribly bad. But I doubt PH will be like MPH as locations go. As Eralk said, we're in good hands.

Huh?
Few differences.
In PH multiplayer is just addition, without WiFi (i think >_>). In MPH it was one of game`s selling points.
PH already has story confirmed. MPH didnt have to, since there was little to be done between MP and MP2.
PH concept cant be killed, its so popular. Prime`s concept has never been copied good. Even MP2 sucked hard.
And finally. PH is done by EAD, while MPH was done by horrible NST.
And thus, PH wont be bad game, contrary to MPH, which was godawful (and even bigger disappointment than MP2 was)

Re: Phantom Hourglass... MPH???

The only reason that alot of people felt that the single player in MPH was lacking is because the game had a heavy focus on the online mode. Most of the time was spent on that and perfecting the controls (which the devlopers did a fantastic job with).

Personally I didnt have a problem with the single player in MPH, Metroid Prime or MP2:E level single player jut wouldnt have been practical for a handheld game.

Back to the point at hand, you wont have to worry about this issue, because as you can see, as with every other Zelda, the focus is on the single player., as you can pretty much tell by how lacking the multiplayer is.

Re: Phantom Hourglass... MPH???

I don't think it will be.

In WW you had to visit some islands SEVERAL times and then there were the islands you had to go to for the shards which was very annoying.

I don't think PH will be like that at all there will probably be a few islands you just go back to for a certain part for a reason.

You think PH will also have a boring single-player mode because you need to visit some islands twice?

Hmmm... odd...
I visited Outset Island, Windfall Island, Forsaken Fortress more then twice, so yeah.

Re: Phantom Hourglass... MPH???

Do you have any evidence it could be like that besides the fact that we revisit islands? You always revisit locations in Zelda, but it was never a problem before. Zelda's fun to just travel Hyrule, I don't think it will be any more boring than WW (hopefully less boring in the sailing department, however.)

Thank you. Hunters was OK, even if the single player mode was dissapointing. I think it was worth buying just for the multiplayer.
