Some intresting info from IGN

http://wii.ign.com/articles/771/771715p1.html

Quote:
Quizzed on whether or not there is room for visual improvement to the Zelda series on Wii, Aonuma responded: "With the Wii version of Twilight Princess, I was creating the Wii version of a GameCube game and wanted to make them similar, so I didn't use the Wii graphics capability to its full capacity. We could actually do a lot more with that and I'm looking forward to doing that
Thats always good to hear.

I never cared about graphical whoreness, and I never will. TP looked great, and in my eyes it doesn't need to look any better. Personally, I would prefer they spend that time making graphics on adding more content

Of course, good graphics are always better than sub-par graphics. I thought that TP looked great (and I played the GC version). A graphics improvement can only be a positive, hence no one should complain. For example,

I'm pretty sure that they have a separate crew for visuals and content, so this really isn't an issue.

Finally, we brought up a common gripe: the lack of any major voice acting in Twilight Princess. Unlike orchestral music, which Nintendo seems intent on doing for future games, the company is not yet convinced that characters should talk.

"In regard to voice acting, I made a conscious decision not to give Link a voice because Link is actually the player and to give him a voice would alter the experience for the player so I don't think that that will happen anytime soon. Unless, of course, it benefits the gameplay. It's all about gameplay, so it if benefits the gameplay then we would definitely consider including voice acting," Aonuma said. "There are many games out there that use voice recording and for me, if I were to choose to include voice acting in a Zelda game, it would have to change the game dramatically and make other people realize that it's a completely new way of using voices."
Great article. I especially like the quote I found VA threads, you goin down! *cracks knuckles*

Can't wait to see full graphics of the Wii unleashed.

Re: Some intresting info from IGN

But Midna has VA in Twilight Princess. I'm looking forward to that kind of VA in Zelda, only for main characters like Zelda, Ganondorf, your assistant (Navi/Tatl/KorL/Midna) and other characters important to the storyline (The King in TWW/Zant in TP). But not VA to Link obviously.

Re: Some intresting info from IGN

I like the VA they have currently; vocal effects for main characters, and a little more vocal vocabulary for the "sidekicks" (Navi, Midna, The King of Red Lions). Link having a voice would just be so foreign; he's perfect silent.

I always assumed that TP wasn't the height of the Wii's graphical capabilities but it's good to hear from the horse's mouth that the next Zelda will look even better.

That's actually a really good idea. If all the other characters had decent voice acting, it wouldn't even have a negative impact on the game. In fact, I think it would be a huge improvement. It would make the game much more interesting, and there would be more of a reason to talk to NPCs. The story and cut-scenes would also be more exciting.

I really don't know about VA. So people want VA? What if it sounds like garbage? Then your just gonna complain about that. I say keep it like it is. And the graphics don't really bother me. I just want some better gameplay and puzzles and a good plot in the next one.

I agree with him. TP looked amazing, and it didn't need anything else added on.

Re: Some intresting info from IGN

That's Great to hear. Graphics are definately not the main point of the game gameplay is, but if the graphics improve it isn't like it would hinder gameplay at all. so if you think better graphics will hinder Nintendo from making good gameplay your terribly wrong.

me too and just to point out, im so happy they're not deciding on voice acting. That would just plain suck and i might not play zelda games anymore if they did.

Re: Some intresting info from IGN

B'uuuuuuuh... whut?
Of course the graphics for TP weren't going to be using the Wii's full capabilities seems TP was made, originally, for the Gamecube. And, of course, the next Zelda game out for the Wii will have improved graphics because it won't be a last minute decision to port the game onto a more advanced console.

In regards to voice acting... no thanks. I like the kind of voice acting Zelda has at the moment. Midna's little random speech, navi's screams, NPC's grunts, laughs and humphs. It's nice like that.

Now, orchestral music is a MUST. Obviously TP had to make use of midi music due to deadline dates - but orchestral music will really add a whole new level of experience to the Zelda games. I can't WAIT

If they ever do try out voice acting they should put an option for text or voice acting.

Re: Some intresting info from IGN

Well I think we all know TP was a Gamecube game, so the graphics weren't the best.
But really, the next Zelda is not going to look like Gears of War. It will look better, but not by much.

Re: Some intresting info from IGN

I really liked Midna's style of VA, but would have appreciated it a bit more if the mouth movement actually matched the sounds... :/

SotC is one of my favoritest games, and it pulled off what they tried to do in TP a lot better. Creating an imaginary language for the characters to speak in can work out amazingly well if done properly...

My only worry with that setup would be that Zelda fans would pull a "Star Trek" and try and learn how to speak it...
