Link as a Bad guy

Would'nt it be cool to have link be a bad guy? Something like a bandit where you take over Hyrule or something.

Re: Link as a Bad guy

But that would destroy the character of Link, and basically the Zelda genre. Link never wants to take of Hyrule, he wants to protect it and keep it under the rule of the almighty good guys.

Re: Link as a Bad guy

Yea Link is a good guy, he doesnt want to rule anything. Hell I bet after every zelda game he tries to have a more peaceful life(well more or less)

Link is a good guy, bound by his want to do good and save people. To have Link be a bad guy is like saying Ganondorf wants to save cats that are stuck in a tree and help the kid get his toy back from the bully.

Now... maybe if Dark/Shadow Link went around trying to take over Hyrule it would work.

Mostly because he is evil and thats the kind of thing Evil people want to do. Cuase as much pain as they can!

Re: Link as a Bad guy

Actually I think that would be cool....but Link couldn't really be bad, but if everyone outside his vilaage thought he was bad. Mabey he could be brought up in a band of theives that 'steals from the rich and gives to the poor' or just a band of theives, ut he is really a good person and saves Hyrule...he did steal in Link's Awakening but he didn't have to.

Re: Link as a Bad guy

But thats Robin Hoods job, anyone who did hate zelda would use this. Actualy you can steal in TP. if you go to the one bird potion shop, you can dip your bottle/lantern and get fuel and red and blue potions. but the bird attacks you if you try and return.

I wouldn't mind if he was brought up as a thief and for most of his life up until the game starts he is a known thief. It would change things. His thieving skills would also come in handy, maybe break into houses.

But Link is a good guy, he doesn't go around killing innocent people, nor does he try and take control of Hyrule.

Too bad we don't have a king of thieves who works for an evil cause. You know, dark magic, well known by the community, a master of puppets in an odd sense.

Re: Link as a Bad guy

Well there is a evil Link... Dark Link. I could see myself playing a game where you play as him in my mind, but I don't think it would work in the real world... I wouldn't want it to destroy the Zelda title.

Re: Link as a Bad guy

I'd definately want to see a very advanced/evolved version of a Dark Link. Something in the plot would have made it so that Link was split into two people, one made from his bad sides, and one made from his usual good sides. Of course, we get to play the good side.

I could imagine this copy of Link causing mayhem so that the good Link would get accused for things he had not done. I think the copy should be intelligent, though. He could actually talk to Link and try to convince him to join him and such.

So in a way, Link is a bad guy in such a game, but also a good guy.

It's a cool concept, but I couldn't imagine there being nothing more to the story. It couldn't all end up in you killing a copy of yourself. Or more like, fusing yourself with him so that you become normal.

Re: Link as a Bad guy

It would only work if something like a mix-up occurred. My idea of it working would be if Dark Link was doing the evil-ness and everyone thought that it was Link. Then at the begining of the game, you find yourself in a dungeon, etc., etc.

This seems to remind me of someone. I think the guy had...yes, redish/orange hair. He also seemed to be...I think...yeah, he was really tall and buff. There might have been a tatoo of a triangle on his hand, and I think he rode a black horse.

Now, if only I could remember his name and what he has to do with the franchise.

Re: Link as a Bad guy

I actually like the "thief-Link" idea. Seeing Link take on a sort of maverick role would be fun to see, using slightly less than moral ways to ultimately save Hyrule.

Re: Link as a Bad guy

Link would be awesome like that but that would ruin Zelda. It's like Metal Gear Solid(I forgot which one) when you were playin as snake then out of nowhere here comes this guy named Raiden (I think)

Re: Link as a Bad guy

No, it wouldn't be cool, link is inherently not a bad character, I really don't understand the reasoning behind the need to reverse character roles within the zelda series, there are certain canon themes that are untouchable.

Link can't be bad, he is the hero of courage, the shining light of hyrule, he cannot be bad. Now perhaps he may have to steal a few items or rat out some mal happenings if he needs information for a criminal source, but link isn't bad.

I LOVE THAT IDEA! Except it should be a jail cell instead of a dungeon and you have to sneak out. It would be like that movie, The Fugitive! Except there's no killer, of course, just a troublemaker...I could make a story out of this!
