EGM TP Ratings + Wii

10, 10, 10. Well there's a surprise.

Personally, I wouldnt have rated it 10, but it was an amazing game.

First platinum in a while. I beleive the only other two games rated straight 10s by EGM were Metroid Prime 2 (strange choice), and Halo 2. Anyhow, this wasn't exactly a surprise, but I thought I'd post it.

Also, they voted for the Wii over the PS3. Wii launch games' average ratings: 6.4, PS3's: 6.1. I'm not exactly happy about this, even being a nintendo fanboy-ish. The reasons it was chosen (all 6 judges chose Wii over PS3, completely unanimous) was because the PS3 was basically better according to them, but as of NOW, it isn't worth the full 600 dollars. One of the raters (donahoe) specifically said he only chose Wii because the PS3's launch games were good, but not 600$ good, and "But later, I'd totally trade in my Wacky Wii for a chance to play FFXIII." Greg Ford said "PS3, you've outpriced me... for now."

I am really happy TP got platinum with straight 10s, and game of the month, yada yada yada, and the Wii swept the competition over PS3. But I am kind of sad because all the Wii has riding on it according to them is right now it has more games for less price. If you actually read it you can tell that all of them really want the PS3 but it's just not worth the money at the moment. It's as if they treat it as a competition purely between XB360 and PS3 (there are tons of references to XB360 in the PS3 launch title reviews). It just totally sounds like the Wii is only in there and winning because the price and amount of games. They said ONE time that it's the only source of the major Nintendo Platformers (the one thing that I think makes it the obvious best), but never used that as a point.

I'm mainly just happy the Wii won. I would totally choose either the PS3 or the XB360 over the Wii as a console any day, but Metroid, Zelda, and Mario are totally telling me otherwise.

Wii games are only $10 (U.S.) less then Xbox 360 and PS3 games. It isn't that much a difference between prices.

The Wii is winning mainly because Nintendo shipped many more units then Sony did with the PS3. Sony was only able to ship around 1,000,000 units worldwide, while Nintendo shipped millions. It's easy to understand as why Nintendo sold so many more units then Sony.

Honestly, the only reason I bought the Wii was to play Nintendo's first-party franchises; namely, SSB, Zelda, Metroid, and Mario. There might be other great games that are featured on the Wii; but I was only thinking of those franchises when I bought my Wii. If it weren't for those first-party games; I could safely say that I would have rather chosen a PS3.

For one, Wii games are 10 dollars cheaper, I think that was a typo on your part. 10$ adds up over say, 10 games. If you buy 10 games, thats 600 dollars, on the Wii, its 500 dollars, you just saved 100 dollars for the Wii. Now you can go buy two more games. Sony shipped 400,000 units to America.

And EGM actually chose their console of preference, that's what this thread is about, not who is winning the war. And while still on the subject of the war, I still beleive Nintendo would have sold more had circumstances (shipping) been equal.

There's entirely a matter of personal opinion. Although, I choose to believe that the amount of units sold at the system's launch doesn't really show of affect the entire system overall.

The only reason I said PS3 instead of the 360 is the fact that I already have a 360.

As of now, there's only one Wii game that appeals to me; TP. Judging by the reviews of the other games on the Wii; they aren't that great, if at best, mediocre. However, the same can be said for PS3's games (at least, as of now). Neither system has an impressive library of games.

I think it's a bit early for people to choose the overall "favorite" system over the other consoles. It's simply too soon (both system have only been out for about a month). I'd give both consoles more time to see if they come out with more impressive games instead of preferring one over the another so soon.

Metroid got I think 9, 9.5, 10 the two games that got 10s were GTA San Andreas and Halo 2

GTA San Andreas was an amazing game, I never thought about it. I thought it was MP2 but when I do think about it GTA does deserve straight tens...

Dark Link, there will be a helluva lot more than 10 games worth buying later on. And sure it's too early to choose, but you can, and they did. They chose the Wii for NOW and put a lot of emphasis on now. Especially in Donohoe's case where he said later he'd trade his Wii for a chance to play FFXIII.

On a side note, I personally don't beleive TP deserves a 10. Don't get me wrong, it was probably the best game I've played in a LONG while, but as a Zelda game I don't think it deserves the title as "best" and is more along the lines of 9.6 or so. You can love the game's depth, length, and wii controllability, but you cannot ignore for long that there are only two types of arrows (no fire, ice, or light, I was expecting all three to return, with maybe a new type, not like some MP2 ripoff with light or dark either) or no playable instrument and the double clawshot and spinner were extremely gimmicky (albeit fun in their respective dungeons). In fact, the only true "new" things were Ball and Chain (previously done by enemies in 2D Zeldas), and the Spinner. Arguably the Dominion rod, but throughout Zelda, tons of staff like things have been impltemented (cane of byrna, fire rod, etc. tons of staff/rod items), and this one was basically a mix between rod-based items, and the command melody in WW. With the added bonus of making two certain statues smash a hammer, and other statues shaking back and forth when you press B. Then there's the whole nunchuck issue.

Despite all these shortcomings, the game is rated 9.7 IMO because of the rest of the awesomeness.

The first Metroid Prime had three 10's. I know I have a list somewhere of all the perfect scores that EGM has given, but I don't know where.

I think Zelda deserves 10, 10, and 10. If people don't compaire it to OoT it's defently worthy.

Personally I'd probably give it higher than a 9.5 but lower than a 10.. not too quite sure what I'd give it.. but it's worthy.

I've been getting EGM ever since Metroid Prime 1 came out, and platinums are pretty rare. The only ones I can remember are these:

Halo 2
GTA SA
MP (Echoes didn't get a platinum)

In issues I haven't gotten, I know OOT and MM got platinums. WW was barely short of one, getting 10 10 9.5
