PH... Legendary Sword? (may contain spoilers, highly doubtful)
Our knowledge of PH is rather limited, but we know it's after Link vanquished Ganon in TWW, so the MS isat the bottom of the Great Sea. One of the big parts of Zelda games is the Legendary Swords(the Master Sword, Four Sword, MM is an acception to the best of my knowledge the only one), so could there be a new magic sword it PH, the four sword, or no magic sword at all? Please discuss

Re: PH... Legendary Sword? (may contain spoilers, highly doubtful)
In the original Legend of Zelda Link had the Magic Sword, which to my knowledge has never been referenced as the Master Sword... in Link's Adventure he just had the same sword the entire game. In Link's Awakening he just had a sword, and it wasn't the Master Sword either. I don't recall if it was in the Oracle games or not.... So realistically he doesn't need to have it.
Usually it only ends up in games that tend to stay in the main story and not side stories... which at the moment looks like what PH might end up being, but I guess it really is all speculation at this point. -Mike |

I guess this is **spoilers** if you haven't played the oracles..
Couldn't you get the master sword by connecting the games together? Maybe I'm wrong and it's just a more powerful sword (I haven't played the games in years), but I thought it was the master sword... |

Re: PH... Legendary Sword? (may contain spoilers, highly doubtful)
Every LoZ, besides MM, has some specific "ultimate" sword. Only in MM, LA and the Oracle Legends does a sword not appear to play any important role like other swords do in other games. Since PH is looked upon as a sequal to WW in the since that PH is like MM to OoT's sequal, it may not have a "special" role playing sword.
I am going to laugh if PH features the main sword being the Picoori Blade. (Althogh I am not necessarily asuming that PH is the LoZ to feature the Hero of Men. That is loonacrist.

Re: PH... Legendary Sword? (may contain spoilers, highly doubtful)
Yes, but was the Great Fairy Sword an initial part of the overall story? No. You don't even need it to complete the game. You don't need the Gilded sword either, or even the Razor sword. You could go through the entire game with only the basic Kokiri sword and not screw anything up or prevent you from progressing.
Yes, it was the Master Sword that you could get in the Oracle games, even though once again you don't need it. LoZ had the Magic Sword, which Nintendo has in some cases stated that it could have been considered an early concept of the Master Sword. Though in Soul Calibur II, the Magic Sword is definately different from the Master Sword, but that's most likely because Namco was having trouble trying to get enough Zelda-based weapons for Link to use. SC II isn't specifically Nintendo, in any sense, so it doesn't count. Link's Awakening had a sword whose identity is often argued. Some say it's the Master Sword. Sure, it kinda looks like it when it's hovering above your head before you grab it, but others call it the Shell Blade, since it was in the Seashell house and you got it by acquiring the Secret Seashells. Some people just call it the Level 2 Sword. The Master Sword side of the argument also makes sense, since Link's Awakening is a direct sequal to aLttP, and since Koholint is all a dream, then the Master Sword's presence could easily be dreamt up in part by Link. Either way you look, though, the sword still doesn't matter and you don't have to get it to to complete the game. So what magical weapons are in store for us in Phantom Hourglass? Only time will tell. And Nintendo, of course. |

Although you made some valid points there squiggy, I stil tend to think that Nintendo usualy likes to have games revolve araound a "main sword" that must be used for a certain cause. But when it comes to sequals, these "main sword" of importance, cease to exist. I am aware of the pattern you see. I have a hunch though that PH will differ from any other normal sequal just as TP was to OoT.
