Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

I get the guides mainly as a more detailed dungeon map than the in-game maps. I also like the artwork in them, and I use them for a few miscellaneous sidequests

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

I might get one, but it will mostly be for the artwork and screenshots on it... But first play through im not going to look at a guide, unless im stuck and frustrated to the point I am about to give up.

unless that happens I will not look for a guide lol

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

I am not going to use a guide at all. I'm the kind of person who gets carried away with reading the player's guides, so I'm gonna swear to not read any guides whatsoever.

That's how i spoiled the Zelda Oracle games for myself, and I'm not going to do the same for Twilight Princess.

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

using the book will make it easy, what its an adventure game without the satisfaction of passing a very hard mission and think that was the hardest thing to pass and then encounter another harder mission and pass it and then another harder and harder
a lot of satisfaction!!!!

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

The one time for me when a guide proved absolutely, utterly indispensible for a Zelda game was in the case of OoT's Water Temple.

Everything else I could largely hack on my own, to one degree or another. Which isn't to say that I won't pick up the official Twilight Princess guide at some point, but not before the end of my first playthough, likely as not.

I'll freely cop to not wanting to go through an experience like that again sans guide -- I would rather watch Rosie O'Donnell sucking off Danny DeVito while he uses the john. The one Zelda dungeon that was evidently designed by a monkey after several drinks and cold-turkeying a heroin addiction.

I believe it to be a sin to use a walkthrough for a Zelda unless it's compleatly nessicary.

I wouldn't look at a guide unless it was given to me for my birthday or something, but even then, I'd only look into it after my first walkthrough.

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

I like the guides for when I need help. I'll probably do like most of you and use it the second time through. I think the guides can take away some of the fun of the game. It can be a pain having to look at the TV then down at a book then back to the TV ..book..TV you get the idea.

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

A guide would totally ruin the game. It would seem like it's a chore to play the game if you needed a guide. I can remember with Ocarina of Time, it took me a whole year to complete it. Just because it was my first Zelda game, and trying to figure everything out was quite difficult back then. (Not to mention the Water Temple, lets not get into that lol.) Majora's Mask took two months for me to complete. Wind Waker, three days.

I want the joys of OoT all over again with Twilight Princess. Ok it might not take a year to finish. But I'm hoping for atleast a month or so.

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

I am definitely going to use one. I promised myself I wouldn't jump ahead, though. I don't want to miss a beat of this game, so I want to use the guide along side, at least with my first round. That's how I roll.

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

I think its good for games like FFX-2 (FInal Fantasy X-2) that have a percentage, but for a game like TP, i think its good just to enjoy the ride, not flicking back to the guide the moment you encounter something challenging

I originally hated that temple, but eventually gained a perverse respect for it.

The "Master Quest" flavor can f *ck right off and die, though.

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

I'll definately be getting a guide for all the artwork and collection factor. I'll probably glance at it now and again on my second or third play through so i don't miss any hearts or secrets. But using it on the first play through should be against the law.(unless you really need help) but i still wouldn't use one.

Re: What is your take on using a guide book for TP?

I would say that using a guide takes away from the whole game. If you use one and find all of the secrets the first time it takes away from the replay part of the game also. I'm not going to use a guide when I play it.
