ZU TP Embargo

As being a active member of the TP hype thread I
was exposed to a ton of spoilers today regarding the
embargo breaking guy. I realized that TP obsesses
could finish this game in 4 days. Thats what TSA did.
A ton of us (including me) will not get TP until the GC
version comes out. So around Nov. 24th we will be seeing
threads like: "ZOMG!!!!! I love the part where Ganon kills Link!!!!".
Most people won't be finished by then and others won't even
have the game.So I think for the first 2 weeks or so TP
is out we shold not be allowed to talk about TP spoilers.
Basically a ZU embargo.

Re: ZU TP Embargo

I love how you used my idea! Anyway I agree, eventhough I'm getting TP soon, maybe next Monday. Look at the spoilers we see already, I just seen a pic of you know who in a sig! Now my eyes burn! I say on with the embargo!

Re: ZU TP Embargo

We do have an embargo of sorts. We have the spoilers forum that you may or may not choose to view. AND we have it so that spoiler thread titles are against the rules and warnings will be issued.

We will do our best to not ruin the game, but we will want to discuss it when we play it

Re: ZU TP Embargo

Even though I'm new, I guess I'll put my two cents in.

Here's some solutions I thought of.

1) You can post all TP playing related posts in the spoiler forum while keeping the "Future Zelda" free of spoiler like usual and talking about future aspects of Zelda games.

2) Make a TP forum now since after its release it's not considered "future" anymore. Just put a warning for spoiler. The Future Zelda remains for future games and theories, plus non-spoilerish talk for Phantom Hourglass.

No ban persay, but it all requires self control at any rate to make sure you don't get spoiled.

Re: ZU TP Embargo

I strongly agree, though there should be a thread where you can list your name if you've played it, so that instead of having a thread to talk about it, that you can easily accidently stumble upon, but you could find a list of people who have played it, then you can PM them to talk about it. I dunno. But yeah, no spoilers in discussion threads, no no!

Re: ZU TP Embargo

Is there a way to block the TP spoilers forum from showing up when you click "new posts"
Perhaps that would be more fitting?

Re: ZU TP Embargo

All that's needed to completely contain spoilers is concealing the title threads from the TP spoiler section from outside menus.

If that's possible, that's my suggestion. A complete lockdown isn't necessary.

There is one way. Make a thread in TP Spoilers named "TP Spoilers - Those who have played" and lock the forum to people making new threads... That way, thread titles aren't an issue.

I agree, that sounds like a good idea. Besides it'll be the 8th until I can get it . I hope this would work, as long as no spammers ruin it.

Like the idea, but it would be a lot of work to maintain. I'm just gonna go on hiatus starting Nov 15th... 2 days of ZU then weeks away

Re: ZU TP Embargo

I know that the forum asks that people leave spoilers out of thread titles, but that doesn't stop people from posting them every once in a while and it also doesn't stop people from looking at the most recent thread's title in the forum box.

This board uses vBulletin, so I was wondering if they could do something similar to this:
http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=56

As you can see, the "Last Post" box is censored. Could the admins here do something similar for the TP Spoilers forum?

Badas*! But a great idea indeed.

I´m literally not comming to my pc anymore after getting TP though, but the people who come will be happy by this.

I have a suggestions. Why not make TP Spoilers a password forum. Provide the password in the forum description so people who want to see can get it, and it will not show the spoiler thread titles for people that don't want to see the spoilers.

Can you do that?

It is possible to do this, but it would take a lot of programming. By the time it was finished, it would probably be too late, I dunno how fast ZU people are at getting new things put in, but if I'm right ZU is run on html (hyper text markup language), and it's not the easiet thing to type in. It can take days to make one web page, much less program passwords to block certain text.

Umm... you can make a forum password protected. I just need to go in and switch some options and ta-da, we are golden.

But, I think I am going to do what I said. Lock the forum on launch and put one thread in there. Any new threads created in Future Zelda that are spoilers will be deleted on sight.

Quoting myself here because I just saw a thread title that I really didn't need to see. Namely, the "Fall of Hyrule Cutscene Video" thread.

Like I said, I know the posters that put spoilers in thread titles get punished and everything, but I just don't think it's fair to the people who accidentally see them before they are removed. It sucks, and I don't want to have to avoid this message board altogether...especially since I'm not getting my copy of the game until December.
