Wii vs Gamecube

I've been looking forward to getting Twilight Princess for far too long, and now that the time has come I can't decide which platform I want it on. I f I go for Wii than I will have to wait longer cause I will have to save, or I could just get it for Gamecube and get the Wii later but play other games like metroid, Smash Bros etc. I guess my question is, are there differences in the game play that will make me want to buy it for the Wii aswell after completeing it on Gamecube?

Re: Wii vs Gamecube

Everyone is giving praise about the Wii version of TP. Reviewers are saying that controls fit rather well with the game and it feels very natural. The main reasons I'd a buy the Wii version though is that the Wii version of TP may have extra downloadable content.

Quote:
GamePro: What sorts of online features are you looking forward to in the future?

Harrison: Downloadable content, such as additional levels.

The only reason I can see myself not buying the Wii version is that because it's mirrored; but I won't let that stop me from getting it. So go for the Wii version.

Re: Wii vs Gamecube

Matt Casamassina , head of IGN Wii had this to say:

"If you have the means to buy Twilight Princess for Wii and you still get it for GameCube, you are a fool. And I state that without meaning to suggest that the GCN iteration is flawed - it isn't. It's an amazing swan song for Nintendo's older system, so if you've got no other option you're still golden. But that said, it's not as good as the Wii incarnation. In fact, were it up to me and not Nintendo (and in my dreams, it is), I'd have scrapped the GCN build altogether, forcing everyone to exclusively buy the Wii version. Honestly, Nintendo gave you five good years with GameCube; it's time to move on."

And before the Matt Casamassina flaming starts, keep in mind that the conclusion was echoed by the 40 others at the event.

Yah, I decided on the Wii without thinking of new content. That would make it even better!

Re: Wii vs Gamecube

the bad thing about the Wii version is that it is mirrored, so it messes up things, like the fact hyrule field is supposed to be similar and have landmark references to the one in OOT. and if its mirrored on wii it kind of ruins the effect a little, but i guess it isnt much of a big deal

How do you know if the towns, castles etc will be at the same place as in OoT?

Re: Wii vs Gamecube

I'm personally getting the Wii version because I don't have a Gamecube. There's no point in getting an old system when a new system is about to come out. (Yes I realize that there are people who cannot afford a new system right away, I just work that's all.) I already have it preordered at EBgames, because the last time I tried to get a Zelda game near or on the launch (OoT) I was severely disappointed. I simply wasn't good at finding games on launch day. :/ So to save myself the trouble, I'm having it shipped over to my house. (now it's just a matter of being able to find the Wii or not because I'm in Japan right now.... - I actually live in CA -)

So yeah if you have the patience, I'd say go for the Wii version. But if you can't wait to save up for the Wii, then maybe the Gamecube version will suffice.

In the end though, despite the differences, I think most people will end up saying, "they are both good anyway even if one of them is mirrored." Of course that is just my optimistic opinion.

The Wii version is mirrored. I say "So What? Just beacuase the games locations are different then the ones in the gamecube version, doesnt mean it'l spoil the game. Pick what you like, but im gonna be swining the sword rather then pressing a button.

Wiimote = win.

Ironically, I'm probably only getting the GameCube version...without my Wiimote. :'(

I think people are overlooking the downloadable content part. Harrison indicated that it would be used for FUTURE games! There has been no comformation that TP will use it, especially since development of the game has been completed for quite sometime now before the interview was done.

As for Matt's review claiming that the GC version wanters are "fools", Matt has no right to blatantly claim anyone is a fool over a matter of personal opinion over the version they want, ESPECIALLY since he hasn't played any GC build since 2005.

The interview was about TP. Why would they be taking about other games? Also, I never said downloadable content would be definite; I said it "may have" downloadable content.

The interview was about TP I know, but it never stated that TP would actually include the downloadable content. Harrison only stated that downloadable content will be used for future games.

PLUS, even if it was included with TP, how is it we have yet to see how communication works between TP and WiiConnect24, if it's even up yet? It's not like we've seen an option included into the game has been shown, because knowhere on any review does it say TP will include this feature.

It's wishful thinking people...

Re: Wii vs Gamecube

Personally, I'm going for the Gamecube version because it's much cheaper (I'm not as wealthy as most kids these days) and Twilight Princess feels to me like it's a Gamecube game. I must admit that when I heard it was coming out for the Wii, I found it odd and less appealing than the Gamecube version.

If I had a lot of money, that'd be a different thing. As it is now, though, I don't think Twilight Princess is worthy to be played on the Wii so much that I would use desperate methods and waste all my money on it.

I do think the Wii version looks phenomenal, but to me the Gamecube version is simply a good alternative, not a step back.

Re: Wii vs Gamecube

I'm going to get the Wii one. Not because it'll be better, it's because my friend will get the GC one and I will be able to compare the two of them, seeing which is really better.

gotta get the Wii game of course because we've had a snes game, a nes game (i don'y know k if snes or nes came first sorry), an N64 game (two actually, but they were closely related), and a gamecube game. Now if TP was a sequel to WW, then i'd get it for gamecube, but since it's new....er, then it should be bought on Wii.

(Unless you can't get the Wii for some reason like parents, money, etc.)
