Question Widescreen? Letterbox? Both?

I've seen a couple of pictures of taken directly from the screen . But most of them are Letterbox... (4:3) But I've also seen a couple that have black lines above and below (and its not a cinematic sequence) and it looks like its widescreen (16:9)... So do you guys think there'll be a way to switch between widescreen and not? It'd be really nice to be able to have a lot more room to play on since i have an HD widescreen LCD. We'd have less clutter and us with widescreen wouldnt have to bother with the black lines on the left and right of the screen or with stretched out srceens.

Re: Widescreen? Letterbox? Both?

The Wii can output in widescreen, so TP Wii will support widescreen. As for switching between the two, you do that from the Wii's OS before you load a game, it's one of the settings you can change.

Re: Widescreen? Letterbox? Both?

GDward is right. I think the non-widescreen output will be normal 4:3 (fullscreen), like Gamecube. Otherwise, it would've said "letterbox" in the options.

One thing that can be misleading is that the game adds black bars top and bottom when you have "z-targetted" an enemy, much like in the other 3D Zeldas. So it looks like letterbox when it really isn't.

Re: Widescreen? Letterbox? Both?

It's strange, you would think the letterboxing effect would be annoying, and unneccesary on a 16:9 display, but it's like the 'damage pausing' effect, you don't notice it unless your focusing on it, and it does add a certain Zelda flavour and enhancement to the whole experience.

Interesting little tidbit tho, in the trailer before the last one, the letterboxing dominates the screen less during combat than during a proper cutscene (for example, when Link is opening the chest.) Is that new or am I only just noticing that now?

Re: Widescreen? Letterbox? Both?

You can play it 16:9. There is even a setting on the Wii console that makes it so all 16:9 compatible games will be played like that automatically.

The black and bars you're seeing in the trailer is the little screen narrowing effect when Link uses the Bow and Arrow, Boomarang, etc. If I recall correctly, it was in OoT as well.
