The future of Zelda graphics
I know im getting ahead of myself, but once Twilight Princess is out, do you think nintendo will create another zelda game which features TP graphics or do you think they will just keep firing the windwaker graphics?A while back they did announce a other Zelda game for the Wii. but we know not a single thing about it at all. Which is absolutely funny thing to me.

It's also absolutely funny we don't know anything about your mom even though she's atleast 30 years old.
Let time tell for Nintendo to release anything about the new Zelda, we don't need information.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
I wouldn't mind if the art style is changed to something less realistic, but we've seen the WW representation too many times. Think about it. The OoT art style, which I would consider less of a novelty, has been used three times--OoT, MM, and TP. The WW art has arguably been used four times already--WW, MC, FSA, and PH.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
Maybe it all depends on how well TP sells, which we all know will sell above windwaker. Hopefully PH is the last of the windwaker graphics for now.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
I would like to see something different for the Zelda after TP, or maybe the Zelda after that one. If I could decide how the next graphics would look I wouldn't make them very realistic but more like a living 3D oil painting to really give that magical fantasy atmosphere. This shouldn't be confused with cellshading though, it's still a bit similar to TP graphics. Just imagine looking at lake hylia while sunset or coming across a house in the middle of the woods at night time with a dim light coming out the window with those oil painting like graphics, in my mind that would be beautiful.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
They should continue as they always have- Make new styles. A few games could have one style, and a few can have another style, and so on.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
In my opinion the cell-shaded graphics should be kept for the handheld games, while they should focus more on the "realistic" graphics on the wii and future consoles. Though with realistic I rather mean the fantasy style that TP is having, it looks more real yet it definately shows things that just don't work in real life, it's a perfect choice imo.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
I think that the Zelda game announced was probably refering to TP, but it's pretty obvious that one will follow.
Honestly, I think that the next console Zelda game will probably be a direct follow-up to TP, and so while the graphics will get a little better I doubt they'll be too different. I'm more interested in control refinements, how else they'll imagine to use the controller.

I applaud Nintendo for having the cojones to take such a big risk in creating a cel shaded Zelda but one was enough. I think they need to keep those bright cartoonish colors and dimensions on the small screen where they can stand out better and keep it 'realistic' on the console games please. |

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
I agree. I only think this: That the art style of the game should reflect in the best the way the feeling of the game, it´s story, etc. I don´t care what style they choose for the next Zelda, as much as it gives the feel of the game: Cell-shaded suited perfectly on WW, more than a realistic style. This realistic style fits perfectly the feeling of TP as it has been described.
I also thought of some oil painting art style, it would fit with some story writenn while being seriously smocked or alike. Some really metaphoric or imaginative story. But I find this graphical effect very difficult to achieve.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
We need a Zelda that looks like Oblivion! And maybe also in FP perspective too? Usually Nintendo wants us to BE Link. Making the game in a FP perspective would be great but it would be hard to make work. No..keep it TP. Id love to see the graphics at Oblivion graphics. The Wii can pull it off but its in an early stage and the hardware has many secrets to be unveiled.

I would have to disagree with two things though.....the Wii will not be able to pull off a game such as oblivion graphically, and Zelda should never, ever, ever become a first-person game! Third-person suits Zeldas style perfectly and hopefully it will always be in third-person. I really don't think Nintendo would change the view anyway and I think it will always be in third-person. |

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
Hmm..I want a Zelda thats in the future except we don't need guns. If i've learned anything from Final Fantasy is that you can fight with swords and still be in a futuristic setting. Scrap the fields and forests. We need a city.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
Please, no. I have enough of WW's graphic and its tedious surfing on the ocean. The graphic style, to me, is way too childish. Yes, it's colorful and rather artistic, but it completely takes away the "atmosphere" of a game that's supposed to be filled with "suspense and mystery". OoT was wonderful because it has the style that a Zelda game should have. WW was more like an experimental game of which I didn't enjoy all that much.

Re: The future of Zelda graphics
Actually, I would like the games graphics not to be 100% realistic looking style of graphics. The way Twilight Princess looks in my opinion is 10 times better then oblivion, and I beleive its due to the fact that the graphics arn't totally realistic.
