No Mirror Shield in Twilight Princess

Nintendo announced not to long ago that the shied in TP will not be controlled by the player in the Wii version and that it would only come out during a battle due to lack of buttons on the Wiimote. What I'm trying to say here is that this could mean no mirror shield for TP! in past 3-D Zelda games, the player would beat up some bad guys, find some light, and shine it on a switch. But you cant do that in TP can you. No you cant because you have no control...

It probably means that you can't use the shield unless you're otherwise prompted, not necessarily that you can only use it in a battle.

i think you may be able to use the sheild but when you enter the light time will slow and and the remote will controll your sheild

There you go. You probably CAN use and move your shield, when locked on an enemy. Can't you see, you move a beam of light when targeting something. Sounds good to me, so I say there will have a mirror shield.

Where did you read that? I always thought the shield would be used with the button on the nunchuk.

And didn't they show Link ramming enemies with his shield in one of the demonstrations? (God, I hope I didn't dream that too.)

You can block/parry by flicking your remote forward, but theres no button for bringing out the sheild.

Maybe everytime you go under a beam of light there will be a cue to press A to reflect or whatever, then use your remote to control the lightbeam.

I didn't even think about sheild control... kinda disappointed that I won't be able to use it when I want. Does this mean that you're always on guard when you're targeting something? How will they ever hit you, then, unless it's when you're striking?

Will you be able to control the shield in the game cube version?

How can there be no button to bring out the shield? The shield comes out when the sword is drawn. The shield won't come out automatically, but I'm not sure about the ability to control it or not.

Yea the shield should come out automatically when you release the sword. And I'm sure by pressing R on the gamecube controller it will put link in that blocking stance with the shield just like WW. And in the Wii version once your bring out your sword and shield if you jab with the nunchak you do a shield bash. I'm not sure what you have to press to do the shield bash on the gamecube version though.

Thats what I'm wondering? I think you can...the person who started this thread didn't provide a link to where he found this information...or misinformation.

Wha-!?...*sigh*, it is obvious that you will bash towards the thing that you´re... locked on (that´s what i understtod from the question you made... if i´m wrong don´t kill me). And for someone who asked, in the GC version, while you have the shield up, the B button becomes the "Bash" button... so there.

I don´t think that you´ll be unable to use your shield in the Wii version. I remember how it was stated, that when you´re locked on, the shield will automaticaly raise. But, when you´re UN-locked, maybe you can take out the shield like in all Zelda games, with the new button located in the nunchuka.

Another option is, that (given all the control changes) you can now use the shield at will, even while locked on. I don´t remember if this shield thingy was stated before the revelation of a new nunchuk button. If it was, mosrt probably this button will now take this role (lower-raise defense, for all half-asleep currently reading), given that, from first instance, this "automaticaly-defense-2500" system was made because of lack of buttons, so there. And... (look down)

That's the way they did it in the first games. The shield would only block long ranged attacks, and withdraw briefly when striking.

Um there should be enought buttons. There's 2 on the Nunchucku, one used for targetting so whats the other used for. Because of that I'll say you'll be able to use your sheild. I mean not being able to, it'll take so much from the game.

...the only way to know the answer is waiting... for the answer to come from someone or from the game itself.

ok... so what... despite the awesome mirror shield puzzles (one of my personal favourites) I'm sure nintendo will think of something else..

But even then, the mirror sheild itself could be accessed as an item, similar to link's iron boots in tWW.. you can never have enough items right?

I think the Mirror Shield will be in the game . I hope they give it a nice pattern. The MM was a bit freaky, but cool, the OoT one was my favorite but raised complaints, and the TWW was just boring.

I would love if the mirror sheild had some sort of extra ability to somehow alter the twilight or light realm, perhaps it might be the key item to transform link back and forth between his human and wolf form.. seeing as how wolf link is a reflection/realization of link's inner animalistic desires and such.

Oh yeah... well honestly I never found any mirror shield puzzles boring, so it'll be a great loss (to me) if they just remove it from our equipment because they had no choice... but if they keep it in the inventory it'll be just fine.
