Two Fire Temples.
I have been thinking and I think there should be 2 heat-related temples in TP. the first should be, obviously, a Fire Temple, were you need to light torches, fight fire dancers, and go through fire mazes. the next should be a magma/lava temple. It would be sort of like a water temple only lava.
Whats your opinion? |

Re: Two Fire Temples.
Eh, it's an interesting idea. I suppose they could pull it off if they had them as two separate eliments.
Fire Medallion, Lava Medallion ... or something like that. Fire Temple, Lava Temple ... you get where I'm going with this. It wouldn't work if there was a Fire Temple I., and a Fire Temple II. That's just me, though.

Re: Two Fire Temples.
I just hope they dont give it generic names like fire temple, or lava temple and thing of something orginal. As for multiple temples of simliar elements go ahead not like I care, as long as they are given orginal names.

Re: Two Fire Temples.
Well, there is a good change there will be something like that. "Cause of the inmense much gameplay hours they promised and the fact it would be that much times as bigger as OoT, it could be possible. If the game is so inmense, they should have also more temples then 4 or 5. And as Dungeons always follow element themes, and there aren't more then 6 or 7 of those themes to apply, there is a good change they would use elements twice. Only in a different way, like the example you were giving.
So yeah, there would be a good change something like that would happen. If I care? Not much. For my sake there would be two Forest Temples (A Forest and a swamp temple in this case then). I don't especially like the Fire Theme. Actually it's one of the themes I like least.

Names like "Dragon Roost Cavern", "Ancient Castle of Ikana", or "Goron Mines" are much more interesting than the generic "Forest Temple", "Fire Temple" and "Water Temple". Plus they let the dungeon have a flexible design, instead of restricting it to one main element. I'd like more dungeons like Stone Tower Temple, which had no real theme other than the architexture style, and had a huge variety of puzzles. I'd also like some main dungeons attempt to go without the usual map-compass-miniboss-item-boss key-boss structure for a change.

Re: Two Fire Temples.
Why stop at fire? I'd just as much like to see multiple forest or water themed dungeons.
On another note, while it is easy to sit back and say that we need new dungeon themes, ever consider the feasibility of it? What is left? There is only so many ideas out there. In that sense, I'm A-okay with the reuse of elemental themes, so long as the acutal dungeons and content is new. In fact, I quite like the elemental themes because they allow for great atmospheres and a diverse use of color.

Maybe they'll be like an underground temple, like where in that video link is running from a giant spider. Forest temple will always be my fave.

A lava temple, sort of like a water temple only lava?
.. Sounds rather painful. Quote:
I think that the temples should really be temples and not just mere puzzle rooms.. This is why the spirit temple is one of my favorite temples because you can see that it really is a temple, unlike the water temple for example.. it was just a big puzzle without any real signs of it being a temple. I hope TP has more temples like the spirit temple to give some extra sense of realism to the world. If we come across a fire temple in TP I would like to see a room where in ancient hylian times gorons would come to worship there god/deity or to bring a sacrificial offering to it.. Only to find out later that the god/deity is the temple's boss and the room leads to the acces of the boss chamber.

Re: Two Fire Temples.
I don't mind the elimental sort of temples either. They've got that sort of simplicity (of being only one element), but yet they're very intricate.
I like the way you think, Iroas. That's a good idea.

Re: Two Fire Temples.
I find it rather possible, since there is some Goron Mines, not a traditional name for THE fire dungeon. So... it is possible. I hope it is.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I remember that Miyamoto said that the dungeons will be more animal-themed, but it was in early 2005, so maybe, as many other things, it all changed. I hope that they balance all the themes in the dungeons, with that new animal idea, the good old: fire, water, cuccos, whatever; and (as Iroas said) with giving the feel of actually being in that place, like a temple, a maze between the trees (wich the forest temple from last year accomplished very well, in my opinion), a well, etc. Not just a puzzle house.

And I agree with your other thoughts. Temples should resemble temples. The other dungeons would be caves or other structures. The best element to repeat is water, since you can turn it into ice. The other elements can't really vary as much. I'm fine with whatever Nintendo comes up with, though; Dodongo's Cavern and the Fire Temple worked great in OOT. I would enjoy a sky temple, though. |

Re: Two Fire Temples.
Well.....in OoT, there were two "fire" based dungeons, namely the Dodongo's Cavern, and the Fire Temple. There were also three bosses who used the fire element as an attack, King Dodongo, Volvagia, and Koume/Twinrova.
I would like to see a temple where "light" is the theme. Things like connecting paths of light with mirrors (and the mirror shield is the weapon), perhaps colouring it with prisms, repairing broken angel statues, and perhaps dimmin or brightening the amount of light in the dugeon, by clickon switches, shaped like the phases of the moon. IE, a waxing moon creates rather bright light, a full moon is the brightest, and a waning moon dims the light.

Re: Two Fire Temples.
Personally, I LIKE the idea of putting names like "Fire Temple" and "Water Temple" and so forth. I Also liked the idea of the names of the bosses flashing on the screen before you fight them, but apparently they took that feature off after Majora's Mask.
