will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
Of all the games Nintendo has worked on, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is by far surrounded by the most mystery, and thats saying a lot since Nintendo is known for being extremely secretive. The question is: Is it a good thing to keep fans in the dark about Twilight Princess or a bad thing? will it help or hurt sales?
i think that in some cases it is good to keep fans wanting more, this is not the case. We've been waiting for this game too long. Im not saying Nintendo has to spill the entire story to us, but would it really hurt to sprinkle some screenshots or videos every few weeks? I think this can really hurt sales since some people are just losing interest in the game since it has been delayed for so long and the lack of any info. look at other recent games that are being hyped up, Final fantasy XII for example. We are constantly getting updates about the game from the collectors edition to new trailers and screenshots to actually gameplay information. Would it really hurt Nintendo to do the same? It keeps fans that are losing interest interested and it would even bring more non-fans to be interested. I have never seen a game hyped up so poorly as Twilight Princess. If it did not have "Zelda" in the title, no one would even know the games exists. what do you all think?

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
Bah, there has been enough info on TP by now. There has been enough hype built up. All we really need now is the release date and people will flock to their local game stores and get the game. I imagine lines will be huge...
If there are too many video's or screenshots released I'll be worried that it'll give too much away. I want my Twilight experience to be pure and unblemished by prior spoilers, even if it's a screenshot or video. In short, I've seen enough, just let me play it when it's out.

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
it wouldn't hurt sales in the beginning, but the more spoilers that are released, the more people know before playing. The more people know before playing, the less impressed they are in the end. The less impressed they are, the lower the game rating. the lower the rating, the less people who buy it later on.
Besides, we've heard plenty in the two years I've been watching this game.

I don't think news and info will help or hinder game sales.
Even if people hear spoilers, they'll still probably want to play the game.

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
I think we ´ve got enough. To reveal more information will not atract new people to buy TP, since that people don´t see sites like this. But, It will spoil things to us, and i don´t want that.
Just don´t worry, when the TV commercials, big street posters, and very hopefully... those movie theater commercials (I can dream...) show TP and Wii... the hype will fly to outer space and beyond.

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
Nintendo can only release so much until the game gets "watered down" or goes into a state of vaporware. Of course Im saying this in regard to the Zelda fans, the people who knew the game existed when it was still being called Zelda 2005 (well lookie here, its 2006
). However, I dobut that anyone outside the Zelda fanbase really knows anything about TP, or the Wii. I say that Nintendo should take the info that they gave us and spread it to the outside world, but I don't think they should give us anything new because of the risk of spoilage.

All Nintendo needs to do once the releae date is announced is make a commercial and air it a lot.
After that, everyone who needs to be hyped with a tv will be hyped enough to buy TP

Yes and with that release date will probably come a deluge of new screenshots and maybe a trailer or two. The hype machine will be impressive I have no doubt about that.

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
I don't think Twilight Princess is going to be a flop. The WHOLE online Zelda Community knows about it. Being a part of this massive group of websites really opens your eyes. Running one of them does too. You wouldn't believe the hype that is going on on other forums.
Trust me. This game is like the foribbiden fruit. The more you can't have it/the more you dont know about it, the more you want it. Am i right? (of course i am ) |

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
As long as they start advertising (internet, tv, magazines etc.) after announcing the release I see no reason why the game wouldn't sell.

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
In the long run its a good thing for me, since getting over-saturated with info and media sometimes hinders the experience before you actually get to play it.
On the other hand, I would find it cool beyond cool to find ads going up everywhere in anticipation for TP. And it gives me a little smile to know that there's a bit of hype surrounding it outside of the Internet community. |

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
Zelda games have record-breaking sales. People are going to buy it regardless of how much they know about it. I'm actually quite thankful that Nintendo is showing us "the tip of the nail" only.

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
We already know that TP is going to be a great game. The amount of information leaked to the gamers is more than enough. Why spoil the surprise and all the awesomeness of the game with screenshots and gameplay videos every few weeks? By the time TP gets released, most people would have already known what to expect, hence, the suspense factor and excitement factor for the game will dramatically go down.

Re: will the lack of TP info hurt or help sales?
K, so if think think the lack of info will help sales just because of the fact that anyone that wants this game has been getting tid-bits of info and as soon as it launches, they will be gunning to get it to find out what the big N's been holding back.
Well, that's just my opinion.
