IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

If you go to www.ign.com, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page on the left hand side there is a poll, which says "Are you buying Zelda: Twilight Princess this Oct... er, holiday season?" I found this very interesting and just wanted to share it with you all. I don't know why they cut off before they say October and then say holiday season. This could just be IGN messing around with it's readers, or maybe they know something that we don't know yet?

Re: IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

Well, personally I'm a bit confused with all those release dates that are given from different kinds of websites. I rather hear the release date from nintendo. Maybe IGN knows something, I really don't know.

Re: IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

That poll was probably Matt Casamassina's doing.

They've admitted to hearing rumors about an October release of Wii already and contacted Nintendo, but Nintendo no doubt countered with their favorite phrase: "Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation." (On a side note, I googled that phrase, including quotation marks, and got over 1000 results...ha ha).

Although I don't care for IGN a whole lot, I like the fact that they have separate channels dedicated for each console. Generally speaking, I like Gamespot's reviews better, but IGN does a much better job reporting information because of their setup.

Re: IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

Well they probably are messing with us...

But...

A while ago Nintendo said some stuff about release dates for various games, but apparantley it had a secret message about the Wii release date hidden in it. And IGN tried to find it, in the end they thought that what the message said was October 2nd

Re: IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

The report that IGN got the October release date from has been shown to be wrong in some other statements it made, I highly doubt that we'll get an October release, especially since there is a Wii preview even scheduled for November 11. (Last day of the Nintendo Fusion Tour.)

What is it with you and making so many threads about the exact same topic?
There are so many 'TP Release date' threads now...

Couldn't you have just kept it all in one, official TP Release date thread?
No offence, but your almost obssesive compulsive attitude to go make a thread just because of a new piece of news is getting old now.

http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/...ad.php?t=49064
http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/...ad.php?t=50175

All threads are about when TP (and occasionally, the Wii) and their release dates, developmental status, etc...

Can't you just wait with dignity like everyone else, rather than make six threads on more-or-less the same topic?
Jesus...

I personally think too many people are factoring in the Fusion Tour into the release date.

Honestly, I think it's perfectly rational for Nintendo to release the Wii in the midst of the Fusion tour. After all, tour uses mainstream (crappy) bands to pull in non-gamers and get them to sample their products. I mean, if you get a non-gaming teenage girl who came only to see Relient K or Hawthorne Heights to enjoy playing the Wii, wouldn't it be perfect to be able to tell her that she can go to Wal-Mart immediately and get one? Non-gamers are not going to be the ones lining up at EB the day the Wii launches. Not only because they know little about the product, but because they'd honestly be a bit freaked out by lining up with a bunch of gung-ho, hardcore gamers. Good publicity for Wii before it launches will be important, but honestly, good publicity for Wii after it launches will be even more important.

And I wouldn't put too much stake in their use of the word "preview". They word their statements carefully to ensure that they don't give away any unnecessary information, even if it means stretching the truth...or flat-out lying.

*ahem*

You said you wouldn't be making a new thread on the release date without an official release date from Nintendo...

Ign, though a good site, is not a Nintendo site.

Re: IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

It's probablly nothing to get excited about but I do think that IGN has ways of getting info ahead of everyone else. For example, when they showed the TP trailer at E3 2005 with the wolf howling at the moon in the ending, Matt immediately started talking about Link and that wolf being one in the same. There was no evidence whatsoever to lead anyone to think that. In fact just about everyone including myself thought it was an idiotic idea.

When it turned out being true I couldn't help but conclude that they know things that they're not allowed to reveal. Maybe they have someone on the inside that leaks information to them and when they get it they pass off the info as a joke or a hunch. That way they still look good to the obsessive fans and they don't get in trouble with Nintendo.

BTW this is all just a theory of mine, no flaming please.

Eh, Wolf-Link had been a rumour pretty much ever since the game was announced. Quite a few people (Unfortunately not me) concluded that the end of that trailer was a not-so-subtle hint from Nintendo that that rumour was true.

I said I wouldn't make any more threads on a delay. And this thread has nothing to do with a delay...it's actually the opposite....it's talking about an earlier release than most expected. If you don't appreciate the information then too bad. Some people seem to appreciate it from their posts. If you don't like it, then don't post on my thread. I'd actually rather you not post if your going to act like that.

Nah the wolf wasn't shown at the 2004 E3 so there was no speculation untill 2005. And while the conference was still being held was when he made his declaration. It all seemed fishy to me.

Re: IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

Matt cassamasina beleives that nintendo is likely to release the Wii on october, read his blog, his thought process is pretty well thought out. All over the wii section (which is run by MC) will always contain somthing about

"The wii might release as early as mid october!".... and such is the grattiti of Matt Cassamasina, the MC of IGN.

Are you kidding? From about two months after the game was announced there were rumours flying around, it would be called the reigns of sorrow, Zelda would be a playable character, it would take place after tWW, etc. Ont of those was that link could transform into a Wolf (another version had him turning into a hawk.)

Re: IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

Not sure if anyone cares about this one, but I work at Circuit City, and I typed "Zelda" into the inventory list on the computer. All of the games that we had were on that list and there was Twilight Princess for GameCube for $49.99 with a 11/7/06 release date on it.

Re: IGN hints at October release for Twilight Princess?

Guys, it's common knowledge that IGN knows things before us. They knew the DS Lite release date two weeks before it was annoucned, they played Zelda, Metrod,Red Steel and Mario for Wii way before E3 and also played with back then 'revolution' controller a day before it was revealed at TGS 2005. Matt even knew that a realistic Zelda was going to be shown at E3 2004. So yeah, I wouldn't doubt that thing in the poll is a hint.

The actual quote, IIRC, was that they were trying to get it released in worldwide with only a couple of months between the first and last release. So, if it was October in Japan it would probably be at least December in Europe.
