Unhappy Wii Version to cost more?

I was searching on an eb games site to see if they had a release date for TP, and I found this.http://www.ebgames.com/search.asp?so...ess&platform=0 Not only can we not use the GCN controller to play the Wii version, but the Wii version is going to cost $10 more! Who knows if this is true, but I'm not too happy about it. I thought that Wii games were going to be the same price as GCN games.

Re: Wii Version to cost more?

That wouldn't be a surprise. Games for a system on its way out are likely to cost less than a game for a brand new system. The standard estimated cost for Wii games is $49.99US, and any new game for the Gamecube in almost the last full year has been $39.99US. It's a buyer's market.

Re: Wii Version to cost more?

In terms of release dates and pricing, EBGames is (and always has been) full of crap.

The only reason that they have the Wii version of Twilight Princess listed at $59.99 is that XBox 360 games have been launching at $59.99. That's it. EBGames is making a blind assumption that all next-gen games are going to debut at sixty bucks, including Nintendo's.

But it's most likely false. Nintendo has said that they have no plans to increase game prices for this generation. And really, they have no reason to. They are selling inexpensive hardware and will be making a profit off of console sales immediately (or almost immediately). They have no need to jack up game prices to make up for hardware losses.

Microsoft and Sony, on the other hand, might never make a profit off of console sales this generation. Therefore, they need to make money in some other area. Sixty bucks for a 360 game might soon sound cheap, if the rumors of the PS3 game prices are true. PS3 owners may have to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $70-$80 per game. That is a rumor, of course, but it won't be a big surprise if it's a rumor that ends up being true.

I'm kind of irritated because we've waited all this time for a normal Zelda game, and they went and put it on both systems. It's not worth it to buy both games because they are basically the same. Why couldn't they just make them the same price? What is the reason for the price jump when the only feature is using the Wii-mote that comes with the system?

It has enchanced graphics, and better play, they are different in some ways, with different puzzles. I'm not surprised, I already know its 49.00 for the wii. Who cares, it's worth it.

I don't know where you heard that TP Wii will have differrent puzzles, but as far as I know that is untrue.

Re: Wii Version to cost more?

No, it doesn´t have any diferent puzzles. Just widescreen, and some minimal graphical improvements. As for the price for the Wii version, i never thought about that, but it´s possible that the versions will have diferent costs. I don´t care much, i´m just buying it whatever happens.

I think both versions will end up costing $49.99. EB games knows nothing. Nintendo has not released an official price for the Wii version as of yet so don't take EB's word for it. It really doesn't matter to me because i'm buying both versions even if Wii TP ends up costing $59.99. I think TP will be well worth it.

You can say that again. When it comes to Zelda info, ZU is the place to be (not necessarilly the mainsite, but the forums). As for the price, I wouldn't be surprized if it was $60 per game. When it comes to the present console wars (GC, PS2, Xbox...I consider Wii, PS3, and X360 the future console wars...even when the 360 is already out) Nintendo has always been a little bit on the expensive side. However, compared to everything else Nintendo is quite cheap (GC had less than a handfull of games that were online, so you didn't have to pay a monthly fee), and with the free online access for the Wii, I wouldn't be surprized that we would have to pay a little extra for the games.

New Gamecube games cost $50-$55 USD. Expect the games to always cost more than the last system (not including the downloadable games).

Re: Wii Version to cost more?

EB games is a most unreliable site to look for information.

Most likely the price will be 50$, even though the Wii version of the game has slightly enhacned visuals, their still roughly the same quality in graphical power.

Also the widescreen technology could only be presented, becasue of the Wii, not the actual
software TP. That logic could only prove valid through upping the prices for the Wii hardware itself.

And TP prices won't be raised to 60$ just because different gameplay experience. Just look at the PS3 the possible 70$-80$ price point, is only that high because the software is going to be Blue-ray due to the fact of that the software will have oustanding visuals. And that price point was not possible even with the tilt-sensor controller product, I'll say again this logic can only be used to why a next-gen console should be higher in price.

Same with the Xbox 360 the software it uses is 60$ only, because of the graphics presnted on it, not because the Xbox 360 is able to offer extreme gameplay.

But otherwise, I'd say the max price for a Wii game 50$ 54.99$ tops.

Re: Wii Version to cost more?

I do have to give credit where credit is due.

I must admit that I'm rather fond of EBGames's mock Wii box templates.

I envision Nintendo using a somewhat similar design. I think they'll definitely go with the white and gray color scheme. Adding in a bit of the bright blue from the LED light around the disc slot would look really cool as well.

A ten dollar difference can make a real difference, for example lets say you buy

10 Wii games that were 60 $ 60$x10= 600$, lets use that same example for if the Wii games were to cost 50$ and you bought 10 games this time around. It would total up to about 500$. 100$ difference, thats quite a but. It just goes to show you a minor difference in money value, can go a long way.
