Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
"I am so confused! Which version will I get?!?"
Thats whats going on in my head right now. With the Wii coming closer and closer, I will eventually have to make my desision on with version of TP I will get. I personally am leaning toward the Wii version, but... several questions are interfering with that question.
The only thing I know that is different between Wii and GCN versions is that you can use the motion sencing to aim your bow and fish and thats not telling me anything. One thing I know is if the Wii-mote doesn't work for me, I may have to get one of those Classic Controllers (which i'm getting regardless, but if thats the case, the much much sooner). |

I doubt you'll be able to switch to any other controller besides the Wiimote. The ability to switch to another controller sort of ruins the whole idea behind the Wii version of TP. As for me, I'm going with the GC version. Simply because it was meant to be on the GC, so that's what system I'll get it on. I might get the Wii version later on to feel the difference between the two versions; but I'm defiantly going to get the GC version first.

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I understand Dark Link's reasoning. But I'm going to get the Wii version. After all, it's the first zelda game for the Wii, and every other one of them could be played on the G-cube one way or another, so I'm ready for the change. Besides that, you can play the GC version on the Wii anyway!

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I'm getting the GC version.
If I get the Wii I have to spend 350 dollars or more. Then I have to buy a controller, will then be an extra 50 dollars? Then I have to get TP. Thats already 500 dollars or more. Then, I'm obviously going to buy another game to play against my brother so that would be SMBB, thats another 100. Thats $600 just like that. Ridiculous. Then when the online thing comes out, I have to pay an extra 150 dollars or more. Thats 750 dollars. Then if I get bored of SSBB online, that means I'll buy another game. Thats $850. Not doing that this time I think.

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I'm getting the Wii version personally. But I wouldn't decide yet. We still don't know a couple of your concerns, such as how much better the graphics will be in the Wii version (better obviously, because of the Widescreen resolution, but what about actual textures, drawing distances, etc?), and we really don't know how well the Wii version of Princess will control. Yeah, at E3 it was supposedly unnatural, but Nintendo is still working on the control system for the game. Who knows what will have changed between E3 and it's launch? Look forward to some of these upcoming gameshows to see what the game might really be like.
And Ganon, you know you don't HAVE to buy an additional Wii controller, don't you?

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I'm getting the GCN version simply, because I'm not ready to take a step further in how you play Zelda games. I'm perfectly fine in how you play TP in GCN.

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I think that if you're really a big fan of Nintendo and you plan on continueing being a gamer for this next generation the choice is obvious; get the Wii. The graphics should be at least slightly better and what better way to learn the control system of the future than on a Zelda game?
If you end up not likeing the new controls (I doubt that will happen) you can always use the standard controler. |

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I'm getting the Wii one. Why? I'm getting the Wii on day one, so what's better than a Zelda game to welcome a new console? I was thinking about getting the GC one, but I want to try new things. I'll buy the GC one though if the Wii version turns out to be horrible.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; if these new controlers aren't a hit it'll be the end of Nintendo's console days. They're taking a huge risk in creating this new way of playing and I think it'll pay off for them, you could say I have faith. Besides a Wii will cost less than $250, thats a whole lot smaller investment than the $600 that Sony is demanding. |

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I'm leaning toward the GC version, but I'm still very much undecided. I would like to try out both, so it would be nice if you could change between controllers of the fly for the Wii version, but I can't count on that happening. Everybody has been saying that the two versions will be identical beyond controls and 16:9 widescreen--has everybody forgot the possible online functions? I remember this being very briefly mentioned in two different interviews, one being in the issue of EGM that was released a few days before E3. If this means downloadable content (like dungeons, perhaps?), my decision will be a lot more complicated. Oh, well, I guess I'm just going to have to wait until both versions are reviewed in order to make a decision.

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I am not getting Wii TP. The ga,e was originally made with the GCN in mind. Yeah, you'd control Link with the Wiimote and do certain tasks with it, lke fishing and shooting a bow. But all that it is would be replacig buttons with controller movements. I'll try it out, maybe rent it, but I'm going to buy the GCN version of TP.

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I'll probably get both, but I'm definitely getting the GC version first. I don't want to mess with getting a Wii on the release date and stuff. All I want to do is grab the game, pop it in the GC, and play it with my good old GC controller.
When I'm done with that, I'll get a Wii, buy Super Mario Galaxy, download Super Metroid, and probably buy TP after a while just to see the difference. >.> |

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
I'm getting the GC version. That fairy pointer thing on Wii TP clutters the screen WAY too much for me.

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
For me, it depends on if I end up liking the control scheme. So far, it seems like it can be used very well with Zelda. While the way they're using it isn't exactly very creative, that's to be expected since this game was originally meant for the Gamecube. We'll probably see more items use it in unique ways in the next Zelda game. It doesn't seem to require much effort to use the long range items, and I think that it can easily improve how you aim. The only problem I can think of would be how high the D-Pad is above the A button. Since you switch items with the D-Pad, when you need to switch to an item like the bow and arrow quickly before that darned Fire Keese breaks you shield, you might have to stretch your thumb a bit. And since I'm so used to using a regular controller for a game like this, it might feel odd to me having to move Link around with a seperate piece. But I will only be able to give my full opinion on it once I try it out.
I'll probably get the Gamecube version, assuming the Wii version doesn't allow me to use the classic controller.

Re: Twilight Princess: Wii vs. GCN
Gamecube version FOR NOW, since I don't plan to buy a Wii at launch, and I already preordered Twilight Princess for GC. Besides, if what they said becomes true, this could be the last Zelda title with the current style of gameplay, and I want to fully experience it the way it was originally meant to be. (Sans rumble, since my GC controller's rumble is broken.)
