I, much like all of you, are very eager to play Zelda TP. I have been scouting the web for the past two years or so to find details about the mechanics of this game. Needless to say the search has been very fruitless. There are a lot of Zelda related forums and such, but few go the extra mile to speculate about such things as I will address below.

Now back to game mechanics:

If you scroll down in this gallery you see Link wandering with what seems like a 'woodgollum' besides him. Might this be the TP incarnation of the Deku Tree?

Every abillity Link has had in previous Zelda games - for instance the time-travelling in OoT - starts out with restrictions: to illustrate, Link first turns into a wolf in the 'Twilight Realm', and will most likely, in the beginning, only be a wolf in the Twilight Realm. Would you be able to turn into a wolf further in the game at random, and whenever and wherever you please? Think of the depht of interaction possibilities this would bring: for instance one npc will react friendly to you being a wolf, others might be scared and again others might hunt you down. I believe this will be possible because it kinda would be the same as Link wearing a mask and getting different responses from npc's, we have seen this in previous installments - think MM and OoT. Offcourse interaction and response will much likely be more dramatic and involving.

We have seen Link riding a bore in a clip. We have seen npc's riding horses and other creatures. I believe that you can ride a lot more than just you're horse. I believe that you can ride everything in this game from cows to those goat-creatures. Plus I believe you will be able to fly on a LoTR like ringwrath bat - or whatever they are called.

In a interview with EDGE last year Aonuma said "From the very early stages of the game's development, we decided that from the beginning the player shall ride on a horse and explore a huge area." The central importance of the horse, and the sheer scale and freedom of the playing field, are stressed several times. Aonuma draws a parallel with WW 's ocean, and indeed what little we have seen of the wild prairies Link will be roaming seem just as vast, and as featureless. What do you think about this featureless remark? I for one believe that in the overworld will be seeing a lot of ruins for exploring, and maybe herds of animals you can hunt or chase to ride. Maybe a little stream here and there. I really hope there is a lot to discover and not just a lot of empty space with static/dead scenery.

Now it has been announced that Link will mature in the game. This is confirmed by various artwork were one shows a very angry mature looking Link http://wii.nintendo.com/games_zelda.html I mean this one!
How will this work? Will we be able to timetravel? Aonuma ones said that they had done timetravel, but this might have been a reference to the MM timetravel mechanic. But if Link matures - which has been confirmed to MTV by a Ninty rep at E306 -, his surroundings will most likely mature with him. Now this could mean that maybe some mini quests would not be playable in a later stage in the game for mature Link. What if you didn't solve all the mini quests in the early age fase of the game, how will you get back when you're matured? Ninty has always been known to build games in a expanding and forward direction. So from start to finish you're gameworld starts to open and expand. Ninty always made it possible to backtrack. How will this work here?

No offense because ur new, but no double posting k? And I like your theories, but they would be more substantial if you had background and gameplay time. Other than that, Welcome and I like your theories.

nintendo has actually created a game where you can miss stuff. In tMC, if you don't cure the old man in the wind ruins through the kinstone before you reach properly, he won't be there and he won't give you light arrows. I wouldn't be surprised (but I would be upset) if such a thing was in TP

I didn't realise I double posted! My bad - wasn't intentional.

I like all but 1 theory. The rest are okay, but like Korokokok said, a little background and play time would help. The theory I didn't like was Mujula being Midna's Helmet. It is just not enough proof to assume such a connection. Now, of course, we don't really now what tribe created MnK, all we know is it disappeared. That tribe could be any group, the terminan Sheikah, the Ikanian race, or something else entirely. And, if Termina is really Hyrule in anouther dimension, well, that open a heck of possiblities up, like if the Terminan universe only lasted a centery after Link, the mask may have been created during that time, and survived the transition of the arrow of time in an area with what would now be a backwords arrow, which might have deteriated leaving MnK in the past, which means the chances of it existing in Hyrule are slim to none, and if the manga is to be believed, who says the oni existed in Millenia BL, Termina's human populis is smaller than Hyrule's, I think, which means the oni is more likely to exist. Now anouter thing, the eyes don't look the same at all. I think midna's eye looks like this: But obviously there is no connection. The eye on Majora is closed at the ends, which is part of the mask's effects, a more natural than shaped look. Of course though, it is a possibility, and in about 1/3 of the multiverse, it is true.

The MM theory ain't mine. I hadn't even noticed the mask on Midna.
However the resemblance is uncanny. I really think this might be the mask Twilight Princess-style.

What I really like to know is how will the overworld look, how many places will there be to visit. And will Link control the transformation into the wolf with a mask eventually?

Or imagine this, evey 30 days in the game - 1 hour realtime - Link will transform. I don't believe the wolf is restricted to the twilight realm when this game is finished.

Anyway, if Wii is shipped around October - wich I really believe - when should there be a finished version of this game up for mass production. How long will it take to mass produce like 500 000 copies? With distribution and marketing and production taken into account, Zelda should be around 99% finished as we speak. Since it is August and by the end of the month during the GC2006 we will know when this game ships - I am pretty sure they ain't waiting with this untill September. So during September this game will be shipped all over the world so it can hit the shelves around October 2nd or a week or so later.

Man it can't be long now before more details will arise.

First thing I will do after having glared the opening sequence is just ride my stalion across the open plains of Hyrule and see how much freedom I've got, offcourse this will be after the mandatory introduction quests and dungeon.

Oh and I'll purchase the Wii version as well as the cube version. I'll play the Cube version first, this game was meant to be Cubed eversince the last <a h ref="http://video.google.nl/videoplay?docid=5438243504724921870&q=spaceworld" target="blank">Spaceworld</a> .

Looks more like the Egyptian eye symbol, but, whatever.

I like the theory about the wolf having different interactions. I can just see a cut scene where if Link walks into a town or whatever as a human he's greeted merrily, but if he does as the e wolf, people start screaming and running around in fear.
For the M'sM-Midna thing, I think it's just a easter egg that Nin likes to throw out there every now and then just to make us wonder.

don't think it's an easter egg the artwork of midna has shown this mask staight from the beginning and come on who really remebers the mask of majora, but a few loyal fans - like us

Kind of a weird color for a Zora. And I was looking, and it looks almost like it could be an updated version of the Marketplace in OoT, with what looks to be a fountain in the distance. They could've like set up shops in that one overhead area between the drawbridge and the main market square.
EDIT: As for the second pic, it looks more like somebody carrying a kid with a bag on their back while using a walking stick.

What about them? I see no difference other than young Link's outfit is darker and they have different swords.

Oh you see no difference: wel excuse me princess! But what about the mature look and ofcourse the Master Sword. How will Link obtain it? Maybe through the Temple of Time, since that is where Link left it in OoT.

No need to be a jerk about it. Mature look? They look exactly the same in both pics! I've never gotten this whole "Link ages" theory, he's looked the same to me in all the pics. Sure he looks a bit different in the MS pic, but that's probably attributed more to them updating the Link graphics than some "Older Link" thing. He's already 17ish, how much older does he need to be?

His whole appearence is wilder like a Link who seen some action overtime. Believe me he represents an older Link, it's really obvious. Nintendo confirmed it btw.

Also I duck up an old trailer from TP but this one features some additional shots that I hadn't seen before, maybe some 5 secs.

I see what you mean, a more battle hardened Link than in the beginning of the game.
And I've seen that footage, it's from the '05 game floor actually. I had started a thread on it awhile ago. "Rare E3 footage" or something like that.

It's incorrest to call him young link he's more of a younger link, perhaps a year or so younger, if that is how long it takes link to get the mastersword, but the age difference is really so small thats it's neglible.

Yes, link does look a bit more wild, but that is only because he has been hardened by combat, his hair is nappy, his face his dirty, and he is very very tired, but you really can't say "old link, adult link" anything like that, this game is not about link aging, there are not two "different" link's like in OoT, Link will not age into an old man or anything like that.

And in regards to the creation of this thread.. yeah.. there's a TP hype thread..
