Wii and TP not launching when we think

This was posted on IGN not too long ago:

Nintendo of America today announced the impending launch of the Nintendo Fusion Tour, a nationwide festival that marries music and videogames. This year's Fusion Tour will be headlined by Hawthorne Heights and will also feature bands including Relient K, Emery, Plain White T's and The Sleeping.


In news that's every bit as important, the Big N also announced that it will offer Fusion Tour guests a sneak peek at its upcoming Wii console. Nintendo did not specify in what capacity Wii would be on hand, but playable demos are likely. The company's top-ranking executives have stated on numerous occasions that they would like to offer consumers a chance to play Wii for themselves before the console ships.

September 27th to November 11th???? Well if the tour goes until the 11th of November then that means that the Wii will not launch until this tour is over. Very dissapointing.

I expected that.
I knew they would make it a christmas release.
releasing it before then and the cost would drop before christmas. and thats when parents will buy it for their kids.
its what they did for X-Box 360
Nintendo wants as much money as they can get.

plus, after Nov 11? my b-day is on the 13th... that means i can get a bunch of b-day money to help pay for this.

ummmmmm.....xbox360 released before thanksgiving...not christmas. And the price hasn't dropped since it released. Don't expect the Wii to drop in price for at least a year either...especially because it is launching cheaper than the 360. Yea now I don't think that the Wii and TP are coming out until december. They will not launch before the PS3.

It would be ridiculous to have the Wii launch during this tour because they are having it specifically for people to try out the system before it launchs.

Well if I was Nintendo I would do it. Because I would not mind having a lot of extra money because I did it on Christmas. I don't really care though because that’s when I would get it any way.

All you people were so sure that the WII and TP were launching in october...some even said late september. Now your all agreeing with a Christmas launch? Whats going on?

Just face it and get over it...it's launching after the tour. The tour is specifically set up for people to try out the wii before it launches. And being how TP for both GCN and Wii are launching with the Wii then that means TP won't be out until after the tour as well.

Maybe the wii can be demoed until some time in mid August, then released and then CONTINUED to be demoed after the release so that people would still have the chance to play it before purchasing it. It isn't as if Nintendo MUST stop everyone from playing the wii at demo kiosks after launch. In fact, keeping it that way would be better because everyone who played it at first would still have the wii relatively fresh in their minds after a couple weeks rather than a mounth and a half. If you read the
'Interesting IGN article posted today' thread you will notice my crazy theory of an October 14th launch but it is only a crazy theory...

I did read your theory because that thread was started by me as well. And the Wii is no way, no how launching in October. And like I said in my post above...just face it people. The Wii will not launch while Nintendo is doing this tour.

How did you know I thought it was going to release in October? Huh. You didn't. Any ways I'm just going with the latest facts. I'm not positive when it's going to come out until it dose. And like I said earlier I don't care when it comes out. I’m getting it at Christmas.

No... No.. NO!

The wii will probably launch in october, but of course, like all who have played it thus far have said, playing is beleiving; so nintendo is going to give as many fans as alotted the oppurotunity to play the Wii, beleive in such greatness, and after the show, buy one. I'm certain that after the demo is over a message will pop up saying "Buy your own Wii today at blah blah blah"

You know that there are demo kiosks for the xbox360, and yet, the 360 has been on selves for a while, this is simply because the consumer wants a trail run with a prospective buy.

The fusion is by no means an indication of the Wii release date.

The wii is all finalized and already being produced/ready to produce, the hardware is all set, what needs to be done is the advertising and the software. The Wii is not going to launch until all of the expected launch titles have been completed and polished, since the word is mum on nintendo's games, no one apart from the developers know when everything will be finalized. Personally, If I don't start seeing commercials for the Wii by late September, I will disregard the October launch. Nintendo wants a jump on Sony and releasing the Wii a week before on a monday isn't really going to do it because everyone will see how close the Sony launch is and hold out. If Nintendo wants to get the money out of the Sony fans before they can use it on the ps3, they have to launch atleast 2-3 weeks early. Wii is only being held back by software while the ps3 is having quite a few hardware issues at the moment so the Wii should have the head start if Nintendo plays their cards right. I am also against releasing the Wii early because it would put unneeded strain on the developers who will feel that they must rush their games out as fast as possible instead of taking their time to make a solid launch line up (The launch is the most important afterall). If October 14th as I have 'decoded' is the proper time then that's great, if the developers and publisher needs more time than that's fine too.

Nope. Then the Sony fans will buy both.

Release them during the same week. Make them have to choose.
