New Nintendo Power Article

This excerpt if from the latest Nintendo Power:

"Nintendo’s Daiji Imai speaks about Twilight Princess: “We’re still figuring out how to best use Wii’s capabilities. There’s still alot of work to do, and fans’ expectations are very high. I don’t think we should make things too complex though…So far, we have only revealed a handful of things about the latest Zelda-the village, the forest, the dungeon-but there are many other things waiting for you in the final game. I think Twilight Princess might be different from player’s estimations, but I guarantee that it will exceed their expectations. You can count on it!”

Now this frightens me because if there is still a lot of work to do...which Nintendo always says lol...then I don't think this game is going to meet it's winter release this year with the Wii launch. I really do believe that Twilight Princess will be released in 2007. Probably
3rd/4th quarter of 2007. If they have been working on it for 3 years and there is still a lot of work to be done I just don't see how this game can be released by december which is the last month of the 4th quarter, which just happens to be 5 months away.

Also by the way Mr. Daiji Imai, you say very little about the game has been revealed...a village, forest, and a dungeon. LOL did you forget about the forest dungeon at e3 2005? That dungeon plus the goron mines equal 2 dungeons. Mr. Imai, did you forget that 3 bosses have been revealed (forest temple plant boss, goron mines boss, and goblin king on horseback boss battle). Mr. Imai, did you forget that the fishing mini-game has been revealed? Mr. Imai, did you forget that Link transforming into a wolf has been revealed? Mr. Imai, did you forget the new hazy-looking Twilight Realm has been revealed? Mr. Imai, did you forget that Ganon and Zelda both have been confirmed to play some sort of role in the game? Mr. Imai.....ok Mr. Imai and everyone you get my point now lol.

Oh yea lol....the whole point of this thread was to state the fact that Twilight Princess is still a long way out and it's release may (probably) slip into 2007.

If I see TP at E3 '07 I will go up to Shiggy, Eiji, and Satoru, and either stab or shoot them.

Re: New Nintendo Power Article

This is also talking about the Wii version only. Nintendo won't delay the GC version because the Wii version is unfinished, and they won't fail to release the Wii version as a launch title.

Well even if the interview was in april/june thats only a couple months ago. So if there was a lot of work to do than 1-2 months haven't added a whole lot to the game. Not enough for it to be released in the 4th quarter if there was that much work left to do.

Re: New Nintendo Power Article

Thing is they have alot of people working on this game too so that helps out a little bit, but I also think this interview was done earlier. I dont see them delaying it again, but I said that when it was supposed to come out in November last year.

Re: New Nintendo Power Article

Keep in mind that there is always A LOT of work to do with such a game @ E3 the game was said to be 80% done, that still leaves 20%, thats almost a quarter of the game to finish up, of course it's all probably finalizing Wii controls and fixing bugs, but would you ever expect a game to be completed way before the deadline?... thats called a rushed game.

No disrespect to you Vacumgod, but everyone if you want to believe posts like this then go ahead. These posts are just trying to make you and the person posting them feel more secure about this game coming out this year. Theres a very good chance that it could get delayed again and everyone should realize that. Thats why I created this thread to begin with. To shed some light on everyone...not try to make you feel better and tell you theres tons of people working on this game and it's definatley going to release this year.

Re: New Nintendo Power Article

There isn't a good chance of the game being delayed again, if the game was delayed, nintendo would get hurt sales wise, and well, nintendo doesn't want that to happen, they're taking a risk with the Wii, it either makes bank, or makes ninteno bankrupt. By giving us a mario title, a zelda title, and a metroid title at the launch of the Wii, nintendo has it's bases covered.
I'm not trying to make everyone feel better by veiwing this last 20% run through rose coloured glasses, I'm simply telling the truth.

The game is more or less complete, concept wise, story wise, and graphically, all aonuma wants to expand on is the Wii controls, he doesn't want it as a gimmick, he wants it to fully change the way the game is played:

-is it better to have full control over the sword despite the fact that the player will get tired quickly?

-should the Wiimote be used to control epona?

-should the focus circle method still be used for over the shoulder projectile use?

I'm sure aonuma has 20 more questions just like these when it comes to the Wiimote and TP, and he's working hard under this deadline.
Just look at the trailer from E3 compared to last year's E3, or even the screens released from last november when the delay was announced, the game is more or less complete for the GC, it's simply a matter of glitch cleaning and Wii control.

Bye the way how else would epona be controlled if not with the Wiimote? And what the heck is the focus circle method you are talking about?

Re: New Nintendo Power Article

They will have almost all the game done by September, mabey even all of it , becaudse that's when Nintendo is planing to announce the exact Release date and price of the Wii.
If you don't believe me then go here and read the article . It states that Satoru Iwata is going to release the exact Day and price in September, and you can trust Wikipedia. Also, like Vacumgod said, they more than likely did this interview a few months ago, So they more than likely are very near completion.
Sorry for my overuse of the phrase "more than likely".

Oo.. double question marks.. this is getting serious.

anywho, no, I do not work with nintendo, but I know from what I read, and I've been reading about game development as a serious hobby for about 3 years, for the most part, I know how games are made.

the focus circle methos refered to the E3 06 demo of TP, whenever someone would use a ranged weapon, a circle would appear in the centre of the screen, if you moved the reticle out of the circle link's body would move, if kept in the circle only link's torso would move.

One would control epona with the Wiimote via holding it horizontally, by jerking the Wiimote one would "whip" epona, by tilting the Wii one could move epona right or left.
simple no? But effective? do players want to use the Wiimote in such a way? Does it complicate the game in anyway? what about using items? Where does the peripheral go? etc etc.

Didn't Nintendo also flat-out promise that TP would have a Q4 2006 release?

Re: New Nintendo Power Article

if nintendo promises, then they must deliver, or else they loose their fan base, which has been dwindeling since the GC, if any company makes a promise, they must keep it, it's simply business practice.

If TP isn't out by Q4 then they will probably give us an extended demo along with PH or somthing like that.

Keep dreaming lol...If you think Nintendo is going to release an extended demo then you really are in a fantasy world. And don't be so sure that PH is being released this year either.

The release date WILL be announced this September. Nintendo has never made such a statement as of yet. Any other release dates were set by magazines and websites, and were not released by Nintendo. The only official "delays" Nintendo put forth were delaying it from Q4 '05 to Q2 '06, and then to Q4 '06. I'm actually pretty sure the first one was in response to rumored release dates, not actual Nintendo-set deadlines, so...

That's really only one delay. They've been working on the game for well over three years. That's plenty of time.
