Twilight Princess to be renamed???

OFFICIALLY, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is not yet the final name of the game. This leaves the possibility that the name will change before it's release. It is only leaving the possibility however, something bureaucratic. The chance that it will actually happen is slim, and thus it is little to nothing more then a sidenote.

I doubt that Nintendo will rename TP after having it named that for a year.

It's possible, but like zmc said, that's the name they've been using for quite some time. Unless the story doesn't actually revolve around the Twilight Princess, then I guess they could\might change the name. I don't care if they change the name or not though. I just want the thing to be released already...

Umm...yeah. I highly doubt they are going to change the name for TP. They could change it for PH though.

Well, right now I can't see a possible better name than Twilight Princess.

Interesting I personally think they should keep the name if this is true cause its what were all used to, not that Nintendo has renamed something before (Rev to Wii for example).

For now, I'm taking this bit of "news" as a rumor. If it's true, then we shouldn't be surprized considering that Nintendo changed the name of the Revolution to Wii. I guess nothing can be expected as permanent when it comes to the Big N. Now if this is false, then life just goes as planned, and everyone will just hope that the game will be sent (unlikely) early. What could they name the game? "Midna's Mask"?

"Twilight Princess" is the name of some obscure manga (I think it was manga) in which the hero was changed into a wolf also. Nintendo has cited no connection between it and its game, yet they may change the name of thier game anyway just to be nice, and maybe to avoid conflict...

I doubt they'll change the name. It's possible, but I just don't see it happening.

I think the title of thes thread should be changed to

"Twilight princess is only tentative title" Otherwise your basically false advertising.

Anywho, twilight princess has been around for so long I see no reason to change the title now, especially so close to the release.

I believe you are slightly confused with a book called "Ladyhawk" and not a manga. This is what IMDB had to say about Ladyhawk:

"Philipe Gastone, a thief, escapes from the dungeon at Aquila, sparking a manhunt. He is nearly captured when Captain Navarre befriends him. Navarre has been hunted by the Bishop's men for two years, ever since he escaped with the Lady Isabeau who the Bishop has lusted after. Navarre and Isabeau have a curse that the Bishop has placed on them that causes Navarre to be a wolf during the night and Isabeau to be a hawk during the day. Navarre insists that Philipe help him re-enter the city to help him kill the heavily guarded Bishop."

I honestly don't think Nintendo will have problems about this. The question was posed on them when the plot of the storyline was reveiled only because of the word "Twilight" and "Wolf" were used. Back then, people thought Link would turn into a wolf when it becomes night (remember that last image of Wolf-Link howling at the moon in one of the first trailers?), so that's why they associated it with that book. Now that we know that it has something to do with another realm, and not the time of day that changes the hero, it's safe to say that the game wasn't influenced by the book.

If Nintendo feels the need to change the name, I say let them. Whats in a name? A rose by anyother name would smell as sweet.

I really doubt they'd change the name after having it this long. Even if they did it wouldn't really matter to much to me, as long as the new name isn't crappy.

Ladyhawke is a film, not a book.

There is a manga called Tasogare no Himegimi. Which translated in English means "The Twilight Princess." I think it was inspired by the film Ladyhawke. I don't know too much about it. The best info I can find about the manga is this.

Just because some minor details are the same, doesn't mean Nintendo can't use them. I don't think Ladyhawke own the rights of a character turning into a wolf... And I don't think Nintendo will change their whole name just because there is manga called the same thing (unless it’s copyrighted). But this has been brought up before in the past. Nintendo would have already changed TP's name if it was a problem.

Personally, I think they should change the title to "The Legend of Zelda: Mr. Fish pwns" but that's just me.

Twilight Princess is an awesome name and I don't think Nintendo is going to change it. They've had plenty of time to, but there's a small chance it won't be called Twilight Princess.

And, yeah, I just want the game to come out already.

OK, if they renamed TP "LOZ: Sequel to Tingle's Rose Colored Rupee Land" I really would not care if it would just come out already

But, seriously, they may change it because of copyright infringement, but that's the only reason I can see. The initial negitive reaction to the game name is long gone. People usually warm up to those things quickly.

PROOF #1: If you want to visit the official site of Twilight Princess, then the address is http://zelda.com/universe/game/legendzelda/, not http://zelda.com/universe/game/twilightprincess/. But if you go and see the official site of Phantom Hourglass or Ocarina of Time, then the addresses are http://zelda.com/universe/game/phantom/ and http://zelda.com/universe/game/ocarinatime/.
That means that the title "Twilight Princess" could likely be a tentative title...

I don't see a reason why they would change the name unless it doesn't fit the story anymore, which I guess is a possibility with another full year of developement.

The manga 'Twilight Princess' is only very loosely related in plot to Ladyhawke. Also, in the manga, there isn't a wolf or anyone who turns into one, there's only the lady who becomes a hawk during the day. As of yet the Zelda game 'Twilight Princess' doesn't have a character who turns into a hawk, although there is a regular hawk in it.

I'm guessing this is just more rumorage, and personally I think the title should stay. Any title changes and we'd have weeks and weeks of whining about it - remember the whole 'Wii' fiasco, or when the title 'Twilight Princess' was first announced? I'd rather not have that kind of thing again, as it was rather annoying.
