Lightbulb Expansion pack for TP on Gamecube?

Is it possible that Twilgiht Princess for Gamecube will require an expansion pack?

I was thinking about how complex Twilgiht Princess looks and all of their promises about length, AI and graphics, and it dawned on me:

At e3 all of the TP games were running on Wii equipment inside black label-less GameCube boxes. What if a normal GC is incapable of running TP? Remember, the GC version of TP is US only, and limited-time. And it's fairly obvious from e3, all of the articles and the way that Nintendo is pushing the Wii that Zelda is now meant more for the Wii than the GC. So the developers are probably concentrating the last few months on the Wii, ignoring the GC version.

All of which leads me to speculate: what if the GC version requires some expansion pack like MM needed? Maybe it will come with the game (or preorders) or have to be bought seperately, only in the US.

Ok, it might be unlikely that new hardware is being developed exclusively for TP...but it's also unlikely that a game being made for the Wii will work on the GC just fine.

Where did you here this? TP was started on the Gamecube and is going to end on the Gamecube. An exclusive version of TP os being made on the Wii, using Wii controls.

Re: Expansion pack for TP on Gamecube?

I seriously doubt this is the case. Think of the game as being developed for 2 different controllers rather than 2 different systems. Since the second controller (the Wiimote) was added on later in the game, of course they need to focus on that more. But the game's the same on both systems, as the Wii runs Cube games. I think the only big thing besides the controller is the aspect ratio (which is bigger on the Wii).

Re: Expansion pack for TP on Gamecube?

Well If ur last statement is true then no Gamecube games would work on the Wii Just fine and we've had confirmed reports it will play Gamecube games.

its VERY unlikely thier would be an expansion pack i mean where would it go? it nots like you can just take off the front like with the N64

Besides if it was going to happen i should think they would of announced it by now.

Well the oly kind of expantion that I can think of would be like a two disc thing because I just can't find a place on the GCN that you could put an expantion pack into.

Re: Expansion pack for TP on Gamecube?

If TP on the GC is only in the US, then I'm going to fly to Nintendo of Japan, Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe and murder everybody in the premises. I live in the UK, and I've been waiting for TP on the GC since E3 2004. If it's only in America and Japan that it's on the GC, then Nintendo is gonna get nuked by me. I would seriously do that, because I'm sick and tired of Europe only getting the games, and none of the merchandise or comics or any of that. I'm getting TP on the Wii, but Ninty better release it on the GC over here, because I want to play the greatest Zelda game ever on my cube.

The only hardware I really think you should worry about is how much space that game would take on your memory cards. I dobut that Nintendo would make such a reckless decision.

Re: Expansion pack for TP on Gamecube?

Sure, the game looks gorgeous now, (looked like crap in the beginning) but I don't see how it's anything beyond the realm of Gamecube.
I'm more interested in how PS2 was capable of running games like Silent Hill 3 and 4. I could've sworn what I saw was pre-rendered the first time I played them.

Re: Expansion pack for TP on Gamecube?

Are we all forgetting that TP was originally built from the ground up FOR gamecube? That means first and foremost the game has been constructed to work for the agmecube's hardware and controller. No expansion pack, no second disc, just a game. For the Wii version, the developer's have taken the gamecube build, implimented Wii-specific controls, and added some more elements to take advantage of the Wii's advanced hardware (progressive scan and 16:9 widescreen ratio).

The reason no GC version of TP was seen at E3 was because they wanted to highlight the Wii, and the games for THAT system.

Also, the fourth trailer that was released (the one that was released this year) was of the gamecube build, and was just as sexy as the Wii version, which is good news all round, because sex sells as we all know.

Re: Expansion pack for TP on Gamecube?

^Yeah, and Kameo was built for N64, as was Starfox Adventures. There's a LOT of examples of games being moved to newer systems, no one will deny that.

Looking at the game, knowing Nintendo, I thinkNaesala has a point about a bottom attachment. Why is it hard to believe that the Big N would develope that "greatest game ever" a bit overboard and consequently make it lokk or even unplayable on the GC, so that it would require some sort of memory expansion. Heck, it might be cheepo and come in the same package.

But the way I see it, either TP on Wii will be sub-par or they'll have to beef up the GC. Would you have wanted a launch title for the GameBoy Color that was in black and white with some sepia tones?

TP on the Wii will be subpar, in terms of capabilities. It's a port of the GC game, with the Wii's control scheme. That's all. I'm probably going to get it anyway to see how it handles, but, whatever.

Re: Expansion pack for TP on Gamecube?

I just don't see, seing that TP was originally designed for GC, that the GC would be incapable of handling TP. It's just inconceiveable. If anything, the Wii version would look a bit underwhelmed graphically compared to other Wii titles, even with some graphical touch-ups.
