Is it the only Time?
I was wondering if the battle on horseback we saw in the demo would be the only time you'd actually get to fight the boar riders, becuase that would really suck.
I hope that there is actually packs of boar riders roaming Hyrule field and every time you get within a certain distance of them they attack.

Re: Is it the only Time?
I'm sure ther'll be Boar riders and more. The Hyrule area is meant to be gigantic, who knows what it'll be filled with. Heck that boar rider scenario may be an intro to the horseback battle element to prepare you for even more epic battles. I'd even say there'll be sub-quests devoted to attacking hoards of monsters in the fields.

Re: Is it the only Time?
The fight on the bridge is probably a "tutorial" of sorts--your first real fight on horseback.

Re: Is it the only Time?
That fight on the bridge was awsome, i think i have that battle trailers saved on my computer. I mean it was just that awsome.
No i really doubt there will be only 1 horseback fighting scene. I mean come on, they introduce a great feature in a game so why make it a one time deal only? that woudl be stupid. Also in Screeenshots you see Link facing off with another horde of boar riders, even if this was taken out doesnt mean there are more like it. Also thats one thing they failed to do in OoT, i mean Hyrule field was basicly empty as an adult... oh wow some poes. I mean atleast when you were a kid you could fight Peahats or stalchildren as a kid. But as an adult they just made it so you could only fight Poes. In MM they did better, atleast you could fight Dodongos, blue bubbles, ChuChu(or whatever they are) those bats and that big bird thing and those one things near the beach. Then in WW there were many moblins(i think thats the name) and sharks and peahat things and sometimes other ships to fight. Not alot, but they were there. Well i guess they did a better job with enemies in the field on the 2D games. But I think i made my point clear. It would ruin apart of the game if they didnt have boar riders all over Hyrule and other enemies to face off with. With the horseback combat it would would dissapoint me and many others i assume, if they didnt allow us to beable to fight on horseback when we want to. hmm dont know if i made much sense... but i doubt it will be the only place with it.

Re: Is it the only Time?
I'm sure it will be one of a series of boar fight, and probably the easiest one at that, a tutorial really. I think every once in a while they'll force you to fight a new boss on horseback, and it will be harder to kill, with more difficult cronies to slow you down. It wouldn't surprise me if one part in the final battle with whomever the final baddie is will take place on horseback, in a apocolyptic Hyrule field with rain, wind, thunder, and dragons, and maybe a couple of Colossi...
Well, maybe I'm being unrealistic.

Re: Is it the only Time?
I think in my opinion that the boar riding shouldn't be all that much. The ocasional boar fighting scene is good but if you have to many of them it will get dull very fast, and when it gets dull u get this
*Ugh....Why do the put soooooooooo many boar fighting scenes in this game* Once again I think that it is cool that you can fight all the different type of monsters but too much of it gets boring. Like how in the 2D games they have so many puzzles that it gets so annoying.

Re: Is it the only Time?
I dont think there will be lots of boar fighting scenes like that one, but i do think there will be various enemies through out the land that ride boars, where you can choose to fight or run.
but it wont be the only place where you fight on your horse, i have seen a couple of screenshots with diffrent horse combat. but if the boar fighting is fun, which it does, i wouldnt mind a couple of them

Re: Is it the only Time?
I hope there are different enemies than just the boars when Link's on horseback. I just think it'd be cool if there were Stalchildren wandering around the field and you could just ride by and shank them. Moreover, I hope the boars appear even when Link's not on horseback. It would be cool to be able to practice the bow and arrow on a moving target like that.

Re: Is it the only Time?
<< Well, I distinctly recall Shiggy (or was it Eiji?) saying that there would be numerous horseback battles. But as for battling the boar riders...I can't say for certain. Still, we'll see more than one boss on horseback, so there's probably nothing to worry about. The mounted combat obviously plays a large role in the game, and we'll most likely be seeing a lot of it. But not too much.

Re: Is it the only Time?
In one of the IGN gameplay videos, they say that there is going to be many types of things to do while on horseback, but they didn´t said any.
And on the combat subject, I don´t think that there will only be enemies that you have to hit with your sword or arrows, but with more variety of gameplay. I mean, like an enemy that appears when you´re crossing a bridge, and you have to knock it with your horse causing it to fall, or some kind of worm that jumps from under the ground and you have to jump it or get hit, and well, I ran out of ideas. But that would be something interesting.

Re: Is it the only Time?
In Game Informer they said the Miyamoto (I think) was really excited about the horseback battles, and that he wanted to put it into Ocarina of Time but they didn't have the technology to do it (or something like that). So I seriously doubt that they will hardly use it. And, it will most likely be at least part of the final battle, like Ganondorf (if he's the final boss which is most likely) is riding a horse as well and you "joust" (even if jousting is done with lances). That'd be cool.

Re: Is it the only Time?
They did have the technology. If you watch some of the old screens you'll see Link on horseback, with his sword equipped.
