OOT &/or MM port to DS

So my question is, would it be possible to make a port of OOT or MM to the DS? They did a good job with Mario 64 but I'm guessing thoes Zelda games would take up a lot more space or whatever. I honestly don't know how much of what you would need to run game x but some of you probibly do.

Another question is, if they could do it, would you want them to? Obviously, some adjustments would need to be made with the controlls (maybe the C buttons could be aligned vertically down the right side of the touch screen?). What do you guys think?

I'd love to be able to play these games on a portable system. If it's possible, I definately think they should do it.

PS: Sorry if this has already been brought up. ^^;

It can happen. They could actually put both games on one card. (see sig for petition to port them to DS)

Re: OOT &/or MM port to DS

Oh geez will it EVEr STOP???

OOt's been ported sooo many times now it's pathetic. I wish peop,e would stop requesting for this, because milking OOt like this is just gonna hurt Nintendo more.

Though I'll admit it's possible to put OOT into a DS game card, but I horrible doubt MM will work properly. MM required the expansion pak from the N64 to enchance graphics, memory, also enabling more enemies onto the screen. Even though MM was transported to the Cube, there were some obviouslg litches in the game because the Cube doesn't have the proper expansion required to run MM smoothly.

If the cube can't handle it doubtingly the DS won't come close to playing MM smoothly.

The DS uses 128 MB carts, and OOT came on a 32 MB cart, so space is not an issue. The lower resolution might be a problem however--192x256 is only half the resolution used by N64 games.

So many times? You mean that brining out a game twice is milking out?

Oh please, two times isn't that bad. But anyways, I would LOVE to have Ocarina of Time DS. And like they did for SM64 (they added Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario as playable charecters), put some new things in. Such as replace a dungeon with a new one. Or some new weapons.

Yes it is. I love OoT, but releasing it a toal of 3 times is a bit over the top. Fair enough if they edit the graphics a bit or add new parts to the game, but they won't. Anyway, even if they did edit it a bit, then people would question why they weren't spending time on the new games (TP, PH) or even games for further down the line. I say Leave OoT and MM as a nice memory and as the best ever game at the time of release.

Re: OOT &/or MM port to DS

Why do people say that the OoT cow has been milked dry? It's been re-released twice, that's all, and both of those were on the Gamecube. I'd like to point something out to all those that have complained about OoT's re-releases. The original LoZ and AoL have also been re-released twice: once on the Gamecube, and once on the GBA. No one has said that the LoZ and AoL cows have been milked dry. So why have a bash at OoT? With each re-release a new generation is awakened to the magic and beauty of OoT. I only discovered it when I bought the Wind Waker that had the OoT and Master Quest bonus disc with it. If it hadn't of been re-released with WW, I would have missed out on the greatest game ever.

There is a point to the re-releases, and that is to allow new Zelda fans to uncover past gems. Bring on OoT and MM DS I say! Bring them right on!!

Re: OOT &/or MM port to DS

If you call not paying for them milking it then so be it, we have only paid for Oot once, The MQ came with WW as a gift and you got the Collectors edition for free or something when you did something, I paid for mine but to play Loz and Aol on my cube, Oot and MM DS would be an awsome gift with TP or PH.

I guess Nintendo is going to die with the release of the virtual console! Oh so many ports!

If you insist, the beauty of having these carts is that Nintendo can make bigger carts if they need to!

Re: OOT &/or MM port to DS

Is it possible? I think so. Is it going to happen? Who knows, but I hope not. Why? It's not exactly about Nintendo milking out Zelda, it's just I'd rather have Nintendo focus on what will happen, instead of what has happened. The LoZ, AoL, and ALttP ports are fine because they are old games that try to attract a new generation (to any young kids that don't own a NES or SNES). However, with the port of OoT and MM onto the GC, that's fairly new technology, no need for it (in my opinion). Would I personally like to play OoT on the go? Sure, but it's too soon. wait for at least another five years for that request.

Re: OOT &/or MM port to DS

He's right, actually. Too much, too fast. Besides, if they don't get profits for the work they put into these ports, that's money lost that could have been much better spent. At the moment, I say it's too soon to port OoT again. It was done twice in a single generation, and that's more than enough. It won't be necessary on the Rev, since you will not only be able to download it, but also shove in the Collector's Edition or Master's Quest discs. << Seriously, OoT Portable should wait a few years. At least two years, but preferrably for the nextgen handheld.

Re: OOT &/or MM port to DS

I would love to have ports of OOT and MM to the DS because you can really get into Zelda games... and that's why I stopped caring about handhelds for the longest time... non of the games had any lasting appeal to me. If the DS is capable of porting OOT/MM, I would definately buy it.

Re: OOT &/or MM port to DS

The reason I want it on the DS is because my parents are irrational and won't let me get an N64 or a GameCube, yet they let me have a DS.
PS - I have played both the games (at a friend's house) and I think that they would look fine, although a bit would be lost... but it would be worth it for me to be able to actually own and play the entire games through in less time, and whenever I want to.

Re: OOT &/or MM port to DS

I agree with Gerudo and Wielder of the Sword, with the 2003 port of Ocarina of Time and Master Quest to the Gamecube, then the Majora's Mask Port, and now the fact that they can be downloaded from the Back-Catalogue for the Revolution, there really is no need for a DS version.

However, I would greatly love a version to waste time away on.
Wit the extra space on the DS carts, I even hope that there is some extra gameply to be had - some new events that connect Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask together, so the two become more like on, extended game.
If anything, it'll prove that Link leaves Hyrule to find Navi.
