The end of Zelda as we know it... PH?

I don't know how much this is discussed in other threads, but have mercy if it's already up, there are way too many pages on all the different threads for a single man to read. Onto my saying:

I heard someone state that TP would be the end of Zelda, as we know it.
You've all heard it, and it made us all think what could be so special and changing (revolutipnary?) about the next game in the series...

So what about this "Phantom Hourglass"?
Unless it's released before TP, it is AFTER "the end of Zelda as we know it" so something must really be different in that case.
Is it just the touch screen and its functions, or are we looking on something entirely new?
From what I've seen, it looks like the DS brings nothing new to the game series than it has done to the other DS games.
New games give new perspective to old statements, what do you think about this? I find it rather confusing.

Re: The end of Zelda as we know it... PH?

I think it will probably be released in the summer of this year, though i may be wrong, thus being released before TP. This is backed up by a playable version making an appearance at May's E3. If thats the case, then its before the TP and it will be the last "regular" zelda game

I think they are going to state PH's release date at E3. Even though we haven't had a whole lot of info on the game, I'll bet that E3's the place they'll sport it off. It will most likely be released before TP, and the Zelda Revolution will be the start of Zelda as we don't know it... Possibly.

No, TP is the last Z/L targetting zelda, after TP Miyamoto will do away with the sytem of zelda created from OoT.

Re: The end of Zelda as we know it... PH?

It's the level of interaction that Nintendo was referring to. Zelda games were always about making you feel like you're there, and now they're doing it even more than we're used to, so therefore, it's the end of Zelda as we know it, with the key part being "as we know it." As to its release date, I am sure that it will be mentioned at E3 (44 days from now! Glee!) along with some information about the game. As for what I think its release date is going to be, I'd say late September. I mean, come on! They still have to translate it when it's done!

The end of Zelda AS WE KNOW IT. There will still be more zelda games. They will just be played differently.

I interpreted it to mean what Master of ALttP said.

Re: The end of Zelda as we know it... PH?

I must correct you there. It's the last Zelda as we know it IN ITS PRESENT FORM! That's the key part, the one everyone forgets. PH is 2,5D, a different form than previous games.

If you had watched the movie on ign.com you would have seen the game is already translated into english.

Re: The end of Zelda as we know it... PH?

TP could be the 'last Zelda as we know it' on consoles. This would exclude any and all upcoming Zelda projects for portable platforms. Which would be fine by me.
