The Legend of Zelda coming to an end....?

When do you think the legend of zelda will end? It all started in 1987 (1986 for Japan) So it's been around for 20 years. We know at least 3 more zelda games will come out (TP, Ph and a zelda for the revolution) All good things come to and end when will zelda come to an end?

Re: The Legend of Zelda coming to an end....?

Hm. I don't think Zelda will end for a while. Mario has been around for longer and there are still people who are fins of it (Me, not one of them). Personally, Zelda won't end until Nintendo ends, just like Mario. I hate to make that comparison though, Zelda to Mario, but I think you know what I mean. Hopefully, though, Nintendo won't over use Zelda like they did Mario and create an on-going chain of pointless games like "Zelda Party MXII". *shudders* Anyway, once Nintendo runs out of ideas for Zelda games, they should just quit. I mean, who want that all-famous Zelda Name turned imfamous through boring, over used games? Not me.

Re: The Legend of Zelda coming to an end....?

Well in 2002(?) it was stated in an interview with anouma that there would be a lot more zelda games, and they would help link the games together, filling in bits of history. So if that is the case, i'd guess 6 more at absolute minimum.

Quite simply, when the moon crashes into Earth. Which is never, because the moon is, in fact, moving away from the earth at a constant rate of about an inch per year.

Hes right. Why would Nintendo give up such a good franchise? So they could lose money?

You forget about all the evil geniuses with tractor beams. Seriously though, even if the moon did crash into earth (which would destroy the entire planet) Nintendo would survive, and Zelda would still exist for us to enjoy.

Everybody seems to forget the cryogenically enhanced apes that escaped the labs. You know, all apes hate nintendo.

But seriously, another thing that I would like to point out is that most people are getting mixed up. A lot of people heard that quote, "The end of zelda as we know it." Just so you know, he meant that we wont be seeing that Z-targeting third person view. What do we see coming? Nobody knows.

I dought it will come to the end, as long as Nintendo lives they'll make it, Dont forget that its Nintendos best Fransice. Plus if Nintendo does die, they can sell it to another Company like SEGA did with Sonic

Nah, the mind-controlled, flesh-eating, soul-sucking, mutant baby hordes will take care of the ape infestation. No worries, Shade and I are the ones with the switch. We're writers; we're invincible. It's one of the basic laws of the written word. We'll make sure things don't go too awry. And if they do... *slips the Supernova's hilt an inch from its sheath while Shade mirrors him with Jenorath* ...well, let's just say the cleanup crew will have a lot on their hands. No one wants to wake up on the bad side of two inter-subservient doppelgangers, after all.

Zelda isn't coming to an end for a long, long time. Of that, I can assure you. Nintendo will undoubtedly crumble before that ever occurs, and don't count on that happening anytime soon.

Re: The Legend of Zelda coming to an end....?

Zelda will most likely live past Nintendo because the franchise itself is well known. But Nintendo will not end so easily because it is the company that pretty much came up with a lot innovative ideas. Many have led to different system inhances(???).

Zelda is Nintendo's best resource for money, plus too many people love it for it to die off. As long as there's a Nintendo, there'll be Zelda, and even after Nintendo Zelda could still be alive who knows.

No, Mario is Nintendo's best franchise. Pokemon is Nintendo's second best. Zelda is Nintendo's third place, which just beats out the Donkey Kong franchise.

Also, what makes you all think Nintendo's going to end? Nintendo has been around for more than a hundred and fifty years. Sure, they've had their ups and their downs, but all in all they've managed to survive. Only recently (as in 30 or so years ago) Nintendo's focus has been on video games, ever since their massive success with Donkey Kong. If Nintendo finds that they cannot compete with video games anymore, then they'll either stay in the race but be a third party developer and not allow anyone to make their original games (Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Star Fox, etc.) and work on completely new game franchises, or they'll just quit the video game industry and go on to something else, such as films or animation. (I'm not saying that they'd absolutely have to go with one of those, but those are most likely since they're into entertaining people.) But, the way I see it, Nintendo's not going to leave at all. I mean, take a look at the history of gaming in America. Sure, there's been many different companies over the years which ended up going third party, so who's to say that Sony and Microsoft won't do the same thing? The whole reason Sega went third party is because of Sony's massive success with the Playstation 2, and they already knew that Nintendo was going to be making the GameCube. So, they dropped out of the race. Even before that, during the video game crash of the 80's, companies ended up either leaving forever or going third party, which most of them did. Look at Atari, Namco, and Activision. They were all game developers back then, but they've switched to third party games after their consoles failed, one by one. I say that as long as Nintendo keeps doing what they're doing by making games more creative, innovative, and immersive then they're not going to go out of business like so many video game companies before it. That, and as long as they keep watching the quality of their games then everything's going to be okay.

Re: The Legend of Zelda coming to an end....?

I have heard rumors about the end of Zelda coming soon... but I don't think there true. Nintendo won't stop the Zelda series for a long time IMO. Anyways, the though of the next three zeldas beeing the last ones made bugs me. Maybe it's just the though of series that got me into gaming got out of gaming...

Re: The Legend of Zelda coming to an end....?

I believe Nintendo is close to the end of the road.....Just because of the high number of people who play the online games for PSP and Xbox 360 especially. I believe the Zelda Franchise will be sold to Sony or Microsoft and they will f#$k up the whole story by thinking they can make a better profit by changing the aspects of the game to a more "Commercial" type game like Halo or GTA. When I goto work, like out of 40 employees, only 5 like zelda, the rest are on the flashy racing or NBA or NFL games. but then again, those are the people who really dont like to sit down and dive into another world for fun. I love nintendo and everything, but, even for gamecube, I only owned like 2 or 3 games.

Idiot. Really, do you think Nintendo would sell the very franchise that is keeping them alive? No way in hell. Nintendo's already refused an offer from Microsoft about being bought out, so do you think Nintendo would let one of their leading franchises be bought out? No way. Nintendo's smarter than that. Oh, and I think the whole reason Microsoft tried to buy out Nintendo is because, believe it or not, they're scared of Nintendo.

Edit: Heh heh, I like how you called GTA and Halo styled games "commercial games." That's a good one. Yeah, they're getting to the point where they're like cereal, you know what I mean? So many imitations all promising the same thing, but when you look at the big picture, they're all trying to imitate crap.

I'm pretty sure Iwata said something like "When we leave the hardware business, we leave the software business". That pretty much sums it all up, unless they get bought out or something out of left field happens
