There's a slightly interesting interview with Miyamoto here where he states that they needed more time for the perfect Zelda. There's some interesting tidbits on the Rev too. Thanks to Stevo18 at IGN for the links.

Even though that interview is new, the news is kinda old. They've told us befor that the reason for TP's delay was because they wanted to add more content like dungeons etc.

Wow, that's interesting. So I guess they're working on having the player control Link's sword on the Rev.... Interesting....

Err, what else would they do with the controller?

But I'm glad that they are adding new content instead of just delaying to make it playable on the Rev, like some of the theories say.
