Changes in the Zelda series for TP
There's been alot of talk about the upcoming Zelda Twilight Princess and talk that Zelda will become a more teen/adult oriented series. Now I believe that the surest sigh of maturity is the fact that someone/something isn't wiling to change. The Zelda series doesn't need extreme gore or vulgar language to get better. It doesn't need to get better at all. In fact the only thing that should be improved on is the character design. Also, in the upcoming game I would like to see Link "mature" through character development, and Gannon should have more of an origional character behind him. What do you think general public?

The problem is, you really can't tell if there will be blood and gore and more violence than before. Sure, they are seemingly making this game more realistic, but that doesn't mean they're going overboard. To sum it up: It may have a darker look to it, but that doesn't mean every dark game has bloody zombies that spill guts when killed. Nor, I'm sure, does it always include swearing. (though Nintendo took a real jump off the deep end when they allowed Shadow the hedgehog say "darn" *not darn, the bad one* when he died. It's a game for kids for god's sake) *please excuse my reluctance to say a swear word. As with Zelda games and many others, I find such language to be insulting, no matter what the topic or generalization*

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
I think there should be something done with Ganondorf. He should have his own story. Instead of him being a vicious, greedy word-dominator, he should have tried to taken Hyrule for a reason that doesn't involve only himself. Have him be like he was in tWW, where you almost feel sorry for him!

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
Think of it this way, if Ganondorf gets a good story line the reason he becomes evil and wants to take over Hyrule is because he is tired of having females over rule him, for most of his life you could assume that Ganondorf was brought up around females(the Gerudos are a race that consists of almost all females and a male is born almost every 100 years) because he felt over shadowed for the most part he seeks to gain more power and over come them.
or something like that. also Zelda should never have foul language maybe damn and such every so often but nothing big, it would probably make me want to play it less.

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
I think if there were cuss words, only people like Ganondorf should use them, and even if he does it shouldn't be shocking. Maybe whispering "Damn" under his breath or something just as he's about to be destroyed, but nothing else.

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
Considering Zelda is set back in olden times, I doubt they would use cusswords as they really weren't used back in those times, except Hell, but only when referring to the place.
Cussing isn't necesary as there are so many better and stronger words out there.

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
I would actually prefer...TP have blood shed, or have something come out of them to act as blood, I think it would make it better more exteme in the realism department...this is just what I think...dont hurt me!

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
I would like to see more of the Keaton just because he was a bit underplayed in other games, plus I want to see how he'd like in TP's style.
Midna looks creepy to me. Also, I think (well, it's going to happen anyways) that a bit of romance wouldn't help. Also, I hope they use Ritos again in another Zelda game.

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
Cussing is a definit no-no, but blood and gore have, in a way, been a part of Zelda since OOT. Remember the well and shadow temple? There was blood all over the place, suggesting torture. Ganon and Ganondorf actually spilled blood when you defeated them. (only the american version if I remember correctly)
It's not the same level of blood and gore as in games like God of war, but it has it to a certain degree. (excuse me for any incorrect use of words) Last edited by Iroas; 03-24-2006 at 08:02 PM. |

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
I dont mind some blood, but to much will kinda ruin it. Although i wouldnt mind after a huge fight and your in the same area the grass would be stained blood for awhile.
Iroas is right, the shadow temple/well was full of bloody walls and stuff. but now i wonder what the well/shadow temple were used for.

And, Iroas, the blood when Ganondorf was defeated was only in the (correct me if I'm wrong) v.1 of the game, but Nintendo changed the colour to green in late versions because of complaints. Anyway, I think we will see some mild gore (anyone remember that part of one of the trailers with all those ghosts in a well-type area?) but nothing major, or 'offensive'. As for swearwords, I think we can safely saythey won't be in it.

Ooops, I'm going off topic. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, I don't think it would be toooooooo bad if there was a little more blood in the Zelda games (please don't hurt me). As long as it's not, ya know, extreme, like blowing off someone's head with a bomb, or using your sword to chop off an innocent NPC's arm. Link swearing, though, I can dig. "God dammit! That piece of **** is so ****in' bad***!" On second thought, maybe not . . .

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
We don't need bloody guts, gore, or swearing to make the game mature.
All we need is atmosphere. I don't care how 'kiddy' a game looks, if it has the right atmosphere, it can be incredibly mature. And I don't care how 'adult' a game looks, if it doesn't have the right atmosphere, it might as well be a crayon scribble done by a 2 year old. It's all about the atmosphere, or more specifically, the player's perspective of that atmosphere. Unforunately, there are people out there who will be so stubborn as to mentally ruin the game for themselves. They'll expect blood and swearing, and dismiss it as 'immature' if these things don't appear. That makes me sad. So I hope future Zelda games continue to have amazing atmosphere. You guys know what I'm talking about. |

Re: Changes in the Zelda series for TP
Yes, there was blood in Oot. The Shadow Temple and when you defeated Ganondorf, mostly. Since TP is rated Teen, I suspect there is going to be blood, more of it at least. The attack system is more violent like the WW, but Nintendo improved it since E3 and they stated that it was since then even more violent. I really do hope there is some blood in TP, as it kind of upsets me when everything's happy and innocent all the time. We all know that the world isn't like that! Too much blood and gore would definately ruin the game, though.
