Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

No. Link talking would ruin Zelda completly. One of the main reasons Link doesn't talk is because you are supposed to imagine what he says.

Him just doing that 'aha!' thing is fine with me.

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

I don't think he should talk, just because i can't imagine what he would sound like.
Hopefully If Nintnedo does choose to make him talk they wont make him sound like he did on the cartoon.

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

That would be cool! The story would be way more alive!! Nobody wants a talking Link because they don't used to it. I think the legend of zelda may change on some things. And you still can imagine you're 'The Great Hero' if he talks. Take Leon from Resident Evil 4 for an example.

The guy from GTA 3 didn't talk while everyone else did. I hate GTA but that method worked quite well.

No Link dialog, only NPC's.

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

Since some Links are of different ages, they would have to change his voice around in different games. I would like more choices, but not voices. They make a mockery of the choices option by making 'No' a universally wrong answer.

That would be no problem, There are so many games with voice-actors. Why for godsake not the big legend of zelda!

I did just download the cartoon this morning. Veeeeery corny. (That stupid kiss-me joke) ....and i didn't like ganon that way eather. The same with that teenage Link and zelda. I don't like the first zeldagames at all. Actually, i only like OoT, MM and WW. It would be cool if they made a cartoon of one of those...

They can make everyone talk except Link, then that would be cool.

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

Link has been mute (well, almost mute) for the entirety of the Zelda series. Apart from his new found battle groans and cries (SKEG! ) in the most recent of games, giving him a proper speaking voice would ruin the experience for the more seasoned veterans of the franchise.

However, at leaat we know that such an interactive game works well without the main character speaking or having dialogue. Much like Dr. Gordon Freeman in the Half Life series.

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

I have my own little idea of Link's voice.
In fact, I have an idea of what all the Zelda characters sound like - I imagine their voices talking, as the text is shown.
Giving Linky a voice would kill my own version of his voice off.
I think it's fair to say most people would have a similar argument like this.

I'm happy with Link's grunts as it is.

GabiLink64 -You have stirred up a hornets nest here.
No,zelda shouldn't include voice talent in the slightest excepting grunts, yells, etc. It probably won't either, ever.Too many people would be disappointed.

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

No. Oh heavens no. I can't imagine a game where the hero speaks words. That would just effect every other aspect of the game in a negative way. I mean, I don't care how god damn good the gameplay is, I don't care how beautiful the visuals are, talking would just kill the game.
Logic is so passe.

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

Not Link. But I reckon everyone else could. Playing Wind Waker it was really cool reading how different some of the most minor NPCs were in how they talked, like the pirate who always said "yeah", and the teacher's over-enthusiasm (contrasted with the "spleeesh" depresso-guy). And some of the dialogue is extremely funny and clever, so I can only imagine how great hearing these people would be.

Someone mentioned the limited choices, but I thought the coices in WW were great - like when you have to catch the girl breaking into the safe on Windfall you can be nasty or nice (though it doesn't affect anything, you jsut can't get her bottle). Or saying "eew, no" to the homeless guy before he becomes rich.

why is the voice in the animated series weird? they talk like other people do and i reckon it was a pretty good voice for the brown haired stubborn link, but in games link isn't stubborn so thats the only problem..

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

im not particularly bothered by the fact link doesnt talk and id rather it be left that way rather than have it messed up, anyway its not like he has a lot to say plus it makes him more mysterious when he doesnt talk, talking would give away too much of his personality and feelings away and make him seem less like a mysterious legendary hero and more like a farm boy who was just in the right place at the right time, no, ARRRGG  i cant eplain it it would just seem wrong

Re: Would you like Link to talk in the next Zelda?

It will never happen. Shigeru miyamoto said so himself. I cant remember where it is, i think its on the official windwaker website, that he said everyone has their own thoughts of what the characters spoke like, and it leaves more to the imagination.

That pretty much sums up how I feel about this topic.

I like having my own interpretation of what Link's voice would sound like. It gets my imagination going which is a good thing when I'm playing a video game, and it adds to the overall feeling of the game. Some games work quite well with full out voice acting, but I like Zelda the way it is .
