Hey, Rev's controller is kinda weird for Zelda, don't you think?

First, have you seen how it is and then tell me if it's me or it's a tv remote....(or at least it looks like it)

The revolution contoller is not a tv remote. Although it does look very similar. The remote will have the ability for you to use it for mutiple things. It's motion censored. So whenever you move the remote, the game reponds back by doing an action. For example Link. If you were to slash your remote like a sword, so would Link. Get it?

my intelligence has been lowered, now let me try to attempt to enlighten you about zelda and the revo. The Controller, as I'm hoping you know, allows the player(s) to manipulate the digital plane to it's fullest, the movement of the remote corresponds to movment on the screen.

So now imagine using the knunchuku attachemt with the remote, you can move link around utilzing the analog stick, the Underside B button can correspond to your sheild, and the Z1 and Z2 shoulder buttons can be used for stock items.

Now, the fun comes in with using the remote has a sword hilt, imagine swinging your arm around in real time, and seeing link swing around his sword. This means the combat has evolved to a level in which it no longer matters how good you are with button combos, but how good you actually are using a sword.

Thats kinda what I said.... Anyways is the Revolution controller really going to have attachments to it like you stated above? I don't remember reading about that anywhere? Sounds interesting....and expensive.

And if you're wondering why it looks like a remote, they made it look like that on purpose because nintendo wants everyone to feel familiar with it.

I don't think it's for the better, first of all I think video games were made with buttons for a purpose. Okay, imagine how you would look so focused on a game and slashing a remote-like controller like a sword at your tv. I think I'd look kinda funny, and seriously what is the point? To make you feel like the hero? Sounds like an ok attempt, and an original one at that, but still an attempt that doesn't cut it.

I think you look stupider already throwing the concept aside because you think you'll look silly playing it. And why do people play games? To escape from reality. This controller merely helps you immerse yourself in their false reality further. No one plays games to look cool. And if you do, you aren't cool.

Yeah, I'm sorry you sit around all day, so weak and lazy you can't flick your wrist about. As said by another member of the forums, grab a remote, sit on your couch facing your TV, and you'll see that unless you are right next to the TV, slashing the remote across the TVs screen from that far is about as easy as say, hmm, pressing a button.

Re: Hey, Rev's controller is kinda weird for Zelda, don't you think?

That is infact the one thing that worries me about the rev controller or "remote". It might get a litte tiresome. Sure, it might not be a huge movement, but to constantly having to flick your rist this way and that... I don't know.

Sure, it's more realistic, but they should make an alternativ to the controler, for those who might get tired of slashing the remote to and fro. And no, you are not lazy for wanting such a thing. Lazyness has nothing to do with wearines in the arm or rist.

Anyway, woulden't it be kind of wierd slashing the remote with your right hand and seeing Link slashing it with his left? I mean, most people are right handed right? How will Nintendo solve that one?

Hehe ofcourse I can flick my wrist about. I was just putting out an exsample of what can be one of the downhills with the new controller .. I like the idea aswell and it could be a genious strike by Nintendo, and it sounds very funny. but maybe the affection for it goes down after a while.. I dont know..

Look at it this way, no nobody can complay that all you do is play videogames, and that you should exercice a bit more. Thanks to the revo, you'll be "exercicing" everytime you play a game =D

Re: Hey, Rev's controller is kinda weird for Zelda, don't you think?

I am not a supporter of the remote-sword idea. It would be a massive waste of potential that would get old fast. Zelda isn't about sword combat. Don't ask me how it could be used better, I'm not a game designer, but don't just assume that we're going to sit like windmills in our sofa when Zelda revolution is out.
And since Miyamoto himself said that TP is going to be the last Zelda in it's current form I'm sure they're onto something that's NOT a new combat system.

you know, i've thought about it, and i've deduced that, since it would be so strange to hit with you're right and see link doing the same with his left, in revolution link will be right handed, or even better, like in Master quest you can choose if you want rumble or not, you¡ll be able to choose if you're a lefty or a righty. What do you think?

Nintendo can put a "right handed" "left handed" option in. Duh.

And they have planned an alternative to the controller. They are releasing a "shell" controller to stick the remote in so that you lazy bums can play it like a "normal" game with buttons.

And then that would take away the feel of Zelda. Duh.

And, IMO, by the time it gets too tiresome to move your wrist down a little it's time to take a little break anyway. You do know you should take a 15 minute break after every two hours of gaming, right?

Ugh. That video makes the controller look horrible...I hope the controller doesn't revolve around a cursor like it showed in the video. Everything else seems alrghit. It's kind of lame that the video is not real...They couldn't just use the controller with a person? They had to make a video using computer graphics...?

maybe because the system hasn't been tested yet? that's just a guess...

and, i highly doubt they would keep a cursor on the screen, it's just there to show you where they are pointing the controller at the time...

I hope so. I would never buy a system where you had to use a cursor in each game...The gameplay looks...diffrent. Especially what appears to be in the video, Super Mario Sunshine. Did you see the way Mario was moved by the Revolution controller? Looks interesting. I can't wait till the public can start testing out the Revolution for themselves. I personally would want to see it myself...but that's not for a while.

Re: Hey, Rev's controller is kinda weird for Zelda, don't you think?

I think it would be okay for sports games or soemthing, like golf or fencing.

But it will be okay for normal games because they will make a cradle similar to the Gamecube controller so you can just slip the (remote lol) controller in and play normally
