NGC's announcement

hey guys! Just to let you know, the latest issue of NGC came out and here's what was in the Mailbag:

Basically, Robino DX (who is a member of these same forums, it seems) wrote a letter stating that many sites had actually said that Nintendo dismissed the claim, and that NGC is no longer a respected name. Here's what they wrote in reply (I've painstakingly copied this, word for word)

We've recieved loads of similar letters, and it hasn't escaped our attention that many internet sites have debunked our story based on Nintendo's carefully worded statement (which, if you decode the PR-speak, actually boils down to them saying "No comment"). So we'd like to set the record straight. The story about Zelda appearing on Revolution isn't speculation - it's fact. We were told this by a trusted source at Nintendo, and we have no reason to doubt it. We understand why Nintendo issued its statement - after all, this news wasn't supposed to break until the E3 show in May - but we're 100% accurate when we assure you that Twilight Princess will be a Revolution title. ED

thoughts anyone? And out of curiosity, who is Robino DX? Step forth! You're cool! You got your name in a magazine!

Yeah, I read that and I've seen Robino DX around here.
Yay! The forums get their name in a mag!

I wonder how many PMs Robino got today...

The exact same thing happened with Resident evil deadly silence. NGC announced it, Capcom denied it. Now , oh! Look at that! It's on the front cover of this months NGC being reviewed.

If all of you remember. TP is going too be backwards compatible too the Revolution. So it might be a Rev. title, but you could sill play it on your GC. Besides, I don't trust NGC too much...I need an *official* reponse, not what a magazine assumes...But wether it's a GC title or not, I do belive that you will definatly be able to play it on a Rev. That's most likely why they are taking so long to come out with the game...I would be a little upset if it turns out it is just a Rev. title...

Re: NGC's announcement

One thing that NGC would like to take into consideration: Nintendo basically said "No comment, other than the fact that it will be released on the gamecube in 06." No just a simple "No comment."

They said they got it from a reliable Nintendo source, whatever that may be.

That would be a cracker of a bombshell for Ninty to tell us Twilight Princess is now a Revolution title.

Wouldn't make sense to me, but hey, I'm just a stupid consumer.

Re: NGC's announcement

http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/members/robino-dx-22445.html <--It's that guy.

Anyway, I'm not too sure if I should believe NGC or not, either way, I still think the game will be released around the launch of the Revolution. It makes sense, I mean, Nintendo are afterall after money. Launching it at the same time as Revolution could make some sense. Money flowing in from Revolution (due to backwards compatibility) and from the game itself. When they say a Revolution title, I was thinking that it works with the Revolution, in the same way as the Oracles work on GBA (Well, without control issues and such).

However, there's nothing official really, so we're left in the dark about it all, and we'll just have to wait before saying "NGC is right/wrong!".

Re: NGC's announcement

ooh, This is good! I hope its true, except the fact that now TP will be released later...If its true of course.

I think if TP is for Revolution, then mabey it will pull an Xbox 360 and release the same game on both the revo and GC. But mabey there would be extra stuff on the revo version.

I really don't want to believe this, and I will not untill we get word from Nintendo (if the ever happens). If this is true, than it proves that Nintendo is full of liers and can't keep promises to loyal fans.

Re: NGC's announcement

This had better not be true. TP has so many freakin' preorders. I preordered mine at full-price before the delay was announced. If they do shove it on the Rev., they're going to have a very violent upheavel of fans who renounce their faith in the Big N. As gullible and dedicated as I may be--darnit--I have my limits! You hear me, Shiggy? Don't do it, or you'll live to regret it! Do you have any idea how long it takes an unemployed teenager to save up fifty bucks?!

oh, mabey this isnt a good thing because im also unemployed and already paid full for TP. It took me a while to save up for it too.

What does this mean if we paid for TP in full already? Do we have to order another game, or what? Is all our money wasted?

Re: NGC's announcement

It darn well better be refunded, that's for sure. I paid fifty bucks up front for TP. And now, judging by NGC's position, it looks like the N's going to push it to their nex-gen console. Which means thousands--possibly millions--of dollars are suddenly going to be displaced. I swear to God, if this happens and I don't get my money back... *grumbles threateningly*

You don't quite seem to understand. NGC is saying that TP is going to be a Revolution title. If this is true, then TP will not be playable on the GCN, and that's what everyone is pissed about. "Backwards compatible" doesn't go both ways--only forward.

Hey! Nintendo have said SEVERAL times that TP will be for GC! So stop thinking the oposit!

It is a big possibility that it will have some special stuff on the rev though.

If I remember correctly (and I always do because I obsessively archive absolutely everything I own), NGC said that TP would be a Gamecube game, but it would also have an alternate control scheme that takes advantage of the revolution's controller.

I'm sorry, I was being a bit blunt in my post . What I meant was that I hope TP will be able to play on the GC...I don't see a big upside if the Rev. will be backwards compatible with TP. I don't see how that can be though, considering Nintendo's funky new controller. Mabey thats why they are spending so much time on it. So it "can" play with both the Rev. controller, and the GC contoller. I just hope that TP is not just stricktly a Rev. title...I just bought a X-box 360 .

Re: NGC's announcement

It might have special content when played on the Revolution (like some GBA games on the DS or GBC games on the GBA when it came out). That I can see happening. I can't see Nintendo making TP a Revolution game and not putting it on the gamecube.

They said it would be for Gamecube, and I never doubt their word on that point. It will have extra items with the Revolution though, special features and all that. THAT'S what it meant.
