Question alternate ending?

Over the years there has been many video games with alternate ending. My question is, should Twilight Princess have alternate endings? If they should, what factors would effect the endings? If there is another thread like this; I'm sorry and the mods know what to do.

Re: alternate ending?

Maybe Ganon would manipulate Link's mind and tell him that he can have help him take over the world... Nah, I'd sooner stick to Link saving the day.

Re: alternate ending?

I don't think TP would be fit for alternate endings, or any future zelda title for that matter, with all these timeline gaps, making alternate endings would only heat up debates more and more.

However, if there are to be multiple endings, then there should be 1 correct/best ending, and the other endings should tell the audience that this ending sequence is not the full, or truely intended ending for the game.

Sort of like the Oracle series? I agree with vacumgod. Zelda doesn't seem fit too have alternate endings...only if there was one true ending, like vacumgod stated above.

Re: alternate ending?

I guess like the concept of mutiple endings, but I don't really feel like going through another playthrough for some minor differences. Maybe they could do something additional during after the initial run, but like people said, it's not exactly Zelda, even if I do have a certain fondness for the idea. I'm all for making the game less and less linear, but well, I'm not sure how we could execute that without disregarding the whole idea of the game and making it just another er, adventure game, I guess. I don't know.

Re: alternate ending?

No, I don't think it would be a good idea either. The possibilities are too limited, instead they should do something different with that time, like a side quest, I would much rather like a side quest as opposed to multiple endings.

Re: alternate ending?

IIRC, Majora's Mask had some variation in the ending based on which people's side quests you finished in the notebook. For example, you would only see Kafei and Anju's wedding if you completed their quest. Variations in that vein would be nice to have in TP.

Re: alternate ending?

I think it would be an awesome idea, but maby not an alternate ending, but an extended ending, like if you get all items and heart peices, then beat the final boss maby they should show some thing extra...

Re: alternate ending?

Not a good idea...If there were people would surely play the game again although i may lose interest in repeating everything but an ending like ocarina of time would be good but follow it with a sequel not the world ending. So when you start you sit around waiting for the stupid clock to open lol

I agree 100%, alternates are terrible *cough Dragon Quest 8* but extended ones are interesting. It makes you want to play it more. Maybe for example after you clear the game you can play another dungeon. And after that you could fight a boss that tests all skills, like a Kindom Hearts Sephiroth. Plus he never truely dies. I don't know who the boss could be, maybe Vaati...

I remember playing POP: TT and everyone was confused because of the alternate ending in the previous game. I hope Nintendo don't make TP in the same manner since I for one would be disappointed. But there is a chance that they will provide such and ending judging from the videos shown originally (darkness-light). Maybe Nintendo is aming to have gamers control the fate of hyrule (and the timeline) through their actions during the course of the game. Well thats my 2 cents.

Nay for alternate endings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: alternate ending?

I don't think there should be any alternate or multiple endings. Because most Zelda storylines are so good that making more than one ending would mess up the formula. I think they should just stick with what they are doing.

Re: alternate ending?

I certainly agree with Lawsy, an extended ending would certainly encourage you to go the extra distance and get all the heart pieces and complete all the side quests. There was no such incentive in tWW and there really needed to be.

Re: alternate ending?

Zelda imo has never really needed an incentive to collect everything for me, ive always just wanted to explore everywhere, do everything, have everything.

That being said, alternate endings would be a nice touch. i dont think the endings should be different (ie. in one link dies, in one ganon is sealed away, in another they all get along and go for a picnic), merely extended, showing extra bits of story.

I believe there should be a few different endings, and the criteria should be as follows:
- Game over count
- Item completion
- Sign destruction count
- Heart pieces

The main story sections of the ending should be dependant on how many game overs you have had, and there should be three endings of different length.

If you have 18+ hearts, then during the finale, any ancient hylian or otherwise indecipherable text should be readable (obviously you wuld put some of this in)

Ig you have collected all items, during the credits, an extra animation involving dancing stalfos will roll. just a silly, entertaining something.

If you destroy X amount of signs, a sign-obsessed character will be seen rebuilding every last one. potentially 500+ signs on screen with him labouring away at one of them during the clip.

If you have completed EVERYTHING, and have never gotten a game over, a super cool "thanks for playing" screen will appear and you will get an extra item if you start a second quest (like say the fairy sword or bug catching net).

Re: alternate ending?

I think TP, or one of the upcoming zeldagames, ends with the big flood that flooded Hyrule. Now i think abouth it.. Does TP takes place in Hyrule, i mean the world, not the land (from OoT) And...the flood came while Link was in Termina (MM).......eeeh......Forget abouth it

Re: alternate ending?

I like the idea of alternate endings in games. Depending on your choices, you could alter the story. However, I am not sure how they could do that in the Zelda series. The choices are not very open. If nintendo decided to do a different ending and plot than other typical Zelda's...than it would probably work out. But not with the current storyline.
