Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

Well all that really says is K Mart will be selling gamecubes packaged with zelda collector's edition, nothing more, there is still plenty of hope there will be other "easily" obtainable forms of this game. Such as pre ordering a game, getting it for 5 dollars from Babbage's by pre ordering a game, in fact you don't even have to pick up the game, they give you the bonus disc seperately at least in my experience.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

I still don't see how selling a package of old games will get Nintendo anywhere. Here's what I see:

1) 2D games for a 3D system, which means the general market won't care about those.
2) Ocarina of Time, which has already been re-released.
3) A demo of a game that's been out for months already.

Sure, us hardcore fans will love this, but the people who, you know, DON'T have Gamecubes still won't have a reason to buy it. It will still be a good cash grab for us Zelda fans, since Nintendo doesn't have to develop a new game.

Or, since they dropped the get a free game with a purchase of a Gamecube(which i doubt most relieze, but he GC is the same price it was when it was $150) it is a cheap way to make a deal, no new developement is needed, plus all those people that complained about TWW will now have a reason to get a Cube because the oldergames are on it, also Nintendo hopes to have it so that once they play all the older game and ten the demo of tWW they wll see it isn't hindered by graphical style, making them buy a game. And in reality the only games that weren't on the Gc already that are in the disc are AoL and MM. Everythign else had already been on it in one form or another.

Why are there 2 people with controllers hooked up to the GC?

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

Hmmm... I actually see a point to this. When people play Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker on the same disc, they will realize how advanced Wind Waker really is, and perhaps this will help Nintendo out during the next Zelda. Anyway, I still don't see why Gamecube is supposed to the system to play 2D games from the 80's; wouldn't GBA be more suitable for this? As it stands, I say this is a mere cash grab towards the Zelda collector at best.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

A Zelda compilation disc isn't going to sell Gamecubes any more than TWW or MP did. Why would people want 4 outdated games for free when they could have one state of the art game or free?

More important, it isn't going to sell a phenominal number of Gamecubes because.... y'know.... the people that actually care about Nintendo's nostalgic franchises already have Gamecubes.

Oh well, more for me to sigh about. One way or another, I intend to own the disc. Worst comes to worst, there are enough grey-market game retailers in my area such that it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

Or you could just buy a new Gamecube, remove the disc, and take the Gamecube back. If you have the receit, it could work. You payed for a Gamecube, not a Gamecube and a game.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

When I was called about my pre-ordered WW game, the lady also said, "We're buying the masterquest discs also, so if you're done with it..." and I said "No." The next week all the game stores were selling the bonus disc for $10, so I bet they'll do the same with this bonus disc, though perhaps after the holidays.

Hey the Zelda bonus disc won't appeal to any NEW fans, most fans of Zelda already own a gamecube, what are they trying to prove?

That is exactly what Dryth said.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

Maybe they're trying to get the Zelda fans to buy Gamecubes for their boyfriends/girlfriends, loved ones, ect. so that they can take the game for themselves . Or maybe it's to introduce Zelda to new people. Since it will supossedly have the WW demo on it, maybe they're thinking people will want to go buy the actual entire WW game.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

Well its quite possible for a Zelda fan to have not wanted to buy WW without even playing it just by judging from pictures, so they figure if he plays some of the game it'll be of his interest, and buy Wind Waker.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

So Nintendo has devised an elaborate plan just to sell a few more copies of Wind Waker? I doubt this plan will do a whole heck of a lot anyway.

With all our posts, we have proven how poor of a plan this is. Why would Nintendo, with marketing PROFESSIONALS, want to go ahead with this odd plan anyway? We'll have to see for sure when the deal goes through. I'm still skeptical of the marketing strategy involved. Sure, the game package probably does exist (since it's rated by ESRB), but that doesn't mean there still aren't rumours surrounding it. Who says that the game HAS to come as a free offer with a GCN? I'm only going to believe in its existence, and not anything else until it's released. It would be foolish to believe in any other rumour without sufficient evidence.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

Perhaps they know some people even if they already own a cube will go out and buy another for the bonus disc, even though its evil, Nintendo knows what its doing, some people won't be able to resist buying a new gamecube for the new bonus disc, so they will sell there current for like 50 dollars or somewhere less then the new price, and buy a new one.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for the GC comes out December 23, hopefully you can get it when you preorder that.

Re: Official Zelda Compilation disc topic

What ever happened to the whole big thing about there being two versions of WindWaker: a realistic one and a cell-shaded one? Maybe that mystery disc that we don't think exsists anymore, but we're still not sure will have it. Hooray!
I doubt it will be for the pre-order of Four Swords. It's too close to the release. We would've heard something about it by now.
Also, why no Link's Awakening?! That's one of my favs. of the Zelda games! Is it because they already did DX? If that's the case, they've already done OoT and OoT:MQ. Grrrrr.... Well, I'm off to clean my pearly whites real horrorshow.

Okay, there are two HUGE points about this:

1) Wind Waker was designed around using the specific style of characters in it, and was planned well using those graphics in mind. Un-celshading would just make the graphics ten times crappier, because the character models would need to be redone just to look okay in un-rendered 3D. And why would all that effort go in even though the graphic style was used for specific reasons?

2) The rumour was probably started to stir up all the OoT-graphic phanboyz. Rumours like these are easy to start, even easier to spread, and are believed by so many gullible people, who spread the unproved rumour even more. *Sigh* People need to listen to reason...

This disc is definately happening. Nintendo of Europe's site just posted a news item about it and the information is the same which is on Zelda Universe homepage.
