Arrow TP: Horseback fighting

Hi, I´m Triforce_Heart!

This thread is about the new fighting style in TP, fighting on an horse? It seems pretty good, compared to other Zeldas, like OoT and MM.

I have to tell, I have saw, images and trailers, where "Link is showed fighting an enemy on his horse, they are in both sides of a bridge, at the sunset, the enemy on his giant boar, and Link on his horse, start ridding to each other, in the middle of the Bridge, they cross, and each one´ s weapon slash the enemy, Link falls off the bridge, and is -game over- Then the fight begins again, and this time, there are three or four rounds, until the monster falls off the bridge and Link wins the fight". Well, to me, this horseback fighting will be a tottaly awesome experience. When you´ re sorrounded by enemies riding giant boars, using the sword to flip them off, trying to avoid the enemies´ s attacks...

Sincerelly: This is gonna be great!!

Wich do you prefer?
Horseback fighting OoT style
Horseback fightingTP style

What kind of question is that? You can use your sword for once in TP..Unlike OoT which makes a HUGE differents.

Re: TP: Horseback fighting

What a great thread! Why would anyone like OoT horseback better after playing TP? And probably most people here haven't even played TP yet.

I think TP horseback style is way better. But i think you still get to use your bow for long distance.

Re: TP: Horseback fighting

I think I will like the TP style but...sad to say...I was never very skilled on Epona...bad cordination. So I put that I liked them equally since fighting with a sword on horseback is going to be fun. But you will be able to use your bow and arrow on the horse too I don't think that they will get rid of that. So in that since TP is better because is combines both.

this isn't just a matter of opinion, graphically, concept wise, and gameplay wise TP horseback combat is far superior, hell, it's even more notstalgic that OoT.

Using a Gameshark I can use a few other weapons on OoT Horseback...but I've played TP horseback, and it totally owns Ocarina of Time. Like, uberly. Makes it feel inferior by loads.

Re: TP: Horseback fighting

I don't think I even fought anything on horseback in OoT. Unless you count the poes. But that was more like target practice than actual fighting. So yeah, that's a given. Of course TP horseback fighting is going to kick butt.

Re: TP: Horseback fighting

never underestimate the stupidty and pickness of some people. i have played the sequence in question many times. and it IS OoT horseback combat with sword swigning abilities and bieng able to get your ass knocked off the horse, in which case, you are seriously ****ed unless you can get beack on your horse quickly, which can be hard since the bokoblins love to swarm and tample you the minute you touch the grass. the AI is super quick to react. and if you only got four hearts, you better have a poition or fairy if you get knocked off, cause kiss those hearts goodbye. fighting off enemies isnt so difficult on horseback, but for the boss you really gotta time where you swing.

another thing i wanna point out is the sequence area itself. no amount of videos or screens can convey just how amazing the mood is during the sequence where the sun shines through the black clouds quickly passing over hyrule, then it turns into a torrential downpour and then clears to a beautiful blue sky. the "HD" era may be here but no amount of bloom effects and parralex mapping can outmatch the style in this game.

Re: TP: Horseback fighting

Yeah, there's no contest, in Tp you can use the sword, bow and i pretty sure you'll be able to use even more items like the boomerang. Remember that Nintendo said that there was alot of hourseback combat.

Re: TP: Horseback fighting

Even though ive only seen videos of TP horeback fighting Id still have to say that TP is miles ahead of OOT in horseback fighting but then again youd expect it to be. OOT horseback fighting was great in its day though.

And seeing as OoT HAD not horeseback combat system, I think it's obvious what my choice is.

Re: TP: Horseback fighting

I voted like them equally because I have not played TP yet. And remember people, the last time a Zelda game got delayed we got the mediocrity of WW cause Mr. Miyamoto took it upon himself to be "innovative" again. Judging from the demos on E3, the TP horseback riding is obviously superior but since Miyamoto has decided to delay TP to add another crack-pot innovation of his to potentially make another Zelda game average, I am not that sure I am ready to pass judgement quite yet. As far as I am concerned OOT is still the standard.

Just so you know, OoT was delayed more than any other Zelda game.

Maybe so, but I had no idea OOT was going to be released until the winter of 97 when I first got the N 64 for Christmas so it did not seem that long to me for OOT to be released. In TP's case it was expected to be released in November that summer and then all of a sudden it is going to be delayed over 6 months. I am like WTF?? I hope I am wrong but if Miyamoto decided to put in elements that in his mind are innovative that will make the game average like WW I will be very dissapointed.

Re: TP: Horseback fighting

What?

Dude, that doesn't make sense. It was Miyamoto's mind that made the series what it is today. and what exactly was so innovative about WW? What did that game do that was so innovative?
