The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

The normal Zelda consists of saving the princss, collecting cyrstals, collecting the Trifore, and slaying a brute, how long as this gone on for?, 10+ years, well I think by the time the Revo rolles around and Zelda Revo is released, I think we will be seeing a completly new Zelda, it will not be based on the Master Sword or the Triforce, or saving Hyrule and the princess.

Zelda Revo will most likely be a sequal to WW, Link goes to find a new land away from hyrule, Ganon is dead, the triforce is gone, and the Master Sword rests again maybe forever, but maybe on thier journey to find a new land that they might live in, and settle down there untill they are older, a whole new story begins.

This new land could still have some of Hyrule's folklore but this new land will have its own, a new villian, a new Princess, not Tetra, a new sword, a new companion, new areas to explore and most of all no more Triforce.

Nintendo said that Zelda Revo will be the new benchmark for Zelda's, well after reading that there is something for you to look foward to, accept it or hate it, you will most likely accept it as almost everyone has accepted link turning into a wolf.

Think about it!

I will add a poll!

Re: The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

It's too early to say what Miyamoto's comment will mean for the future of Zelda. "The last Zelda in its present form" could mean a shift in presentation/interface, gameplay dynamics with the new controller (most likely I think) or storyline. If more Zeldas are planned to take place after Wind Waker, well I can see how future stories might be very different.

On the whole, I don't really care as long as it's a Nintendo creation. In Majora's mask they totally changed the rules, the location, the elements, the nemesis. They even took out the Triforce and no one seemed to care. So I guess, yea, I am more than willing to accept whatever Nintendo chooses to dish out next time around. I've poo pooed before (shaaup) and I've always been wrong.

Re: The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

Well, that's a very good thing to think about.
and i'm not exactly sure i've accepted the fact that there's no more of the original things. Of course there'll be some things put in the game to remind us of past games.
But to me, it'll never be considered a TRUE Zelda game without saving Zelda, or defeating Ganon...i'll definitely enjoy the game though.
It just won't be as good as far as the storyline goes.....gosh, that's not good.

Re: The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

I wouldn't be adverse to a change. Like Thorn mentioned, Majora's Mask was a break from the normal routine, as is Twilight Princess (at least, this is my impression). I was quite fond of Majora's Mask, despite the time limit, and so I think a differing story line, for Revolution's Zelda, would be exciting. I would find a plot that ran the course of the one you depicted fascinating. Alteration, though, is still in its inchoate stage - Zelda's story line could take a completely different course - if it is the story line that indeed subject to change. But since the elements that make up Zelda as we know it are all connected, even if some other element were altered, I think it would affect everything else...

But I fear I ramble. Yes, it will be interesting to see where this takes us.

Sure, Zelda almost always revolves around that corny save the princess thing. But the way that Nintendo makes the games is just amazing, It really takes all the cornyness away from the save the princess thing.

That's sounds like a pretty good idea... but i would like the Triforce to continue... i mean it's like the symbol of Zelda. All the other parts are very good, but i think that there are some things about Zelda that must be kept so it can still have that Zelda scense

I think your looking too much into the story aspects, and less into the actual gameplay.

When Miyamoto said that TP will likely be the last "normal" zelda as we know it, I'm pretty confident that he was reffering to the now tradition Z targetting system that OoT brought to light 7 years ago.

Re: The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

I think Miyamoto's comment refers to gameplay, as the DS and Revolution have very different control systems from "normal" systems. This concerns me somewhat, because gameplay is what is most important to me in a video game. But I think there is nothing to worry about.

Could be, but don't you think the story is getting stale?

Re: The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

I doubt that statement had anything to do with the storyline of a future Zelda game. The storyline is like one of the last thing they add to a Zelda game.

It's all about gameplay mechanics. Trust me.

But how is the story getting stale? As far as overall story progression, and key plot items, tWW is the closest thing we've had to a traditional Zelda game since well... LoZ, over 15 years man, so as far as I'm concerned, the story isn't stale at all.

That's a plausible deduction, one I'm more inclined to agree with as I consider it further. A mere glance at Revolution's controller is perhaps all one needs.

I don't believe the story is getting stale - it's a familiar plot, but Nintendo has done a marvelous job with it over the years. Another story line would be fascinating, yes, but I forgot about gameplay... (not being especially familiar with that arena).

Loz- Focused on collecting the triforce and saving the princess, defeat Ganon
Lttp- Searching for the Triforce while saving the broken seal of maidens and the princess, defeat Ganon.
Oot- Legend of the Triforce, saving the princess, defeat Ganon.
WW- Triforce hunt, save the princess, defeat Ganon.

Looks to be the same formula over and over again, in the popular Zelda's anyway!

They need to add a new character to the Triforce or something!

I wouldn't rule out the Triforce & Ganon arc completely, I mean, the Zelda series isn't known for it's continuity, so I think Nintendo could easily set a newly made Zelda game to take place before the events of Wind Waker - I mean, Ocarina of Time (The supposed 'original' story) was made a long time after the original NES: Legend of Zelda.

But I do like the idea of a 'new Legend' coming up with the Revolution, I mean, the Zelda franchise seems to have lately gone off the 'traditional' story we expect, what with Vaati for the Minish Cap, and the rumours of Ganondorf playing the 'unconventional' role in Twilight Princess.
It would be great to see if the future Zelda's revolve around a more futuristic Hub, with little references to the Hyrule of the earlier games, like you said.

I don't really think Nintendo will try anything too adventurous though, and I think that the 'present form' thingy is really just a new way to play the Zelda games, in maybe a different person, loads of people I talk to love the idea of the 'First-person' Zelda with the Rev. COntroller as the Sword.
Maybe that could be all there is to it - but a lil' change in the Zelda series sounds cool to me!

Re: The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

Well I think it is about time we had something new. It would be nice... New gameplay.... New Console...New Story...New Zelda.

Majora's Mask was good for that reason something totally different (even though everyone was from OoT >_>)
I still don't mind the good old storyline but something new for awhile would be good.

Re: The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

I think a new zelda layout wold be ineresting, but I'd have to see it first. As long as it still had that feel of medevil times.

Nintendo could roll with it very nicely, since there are actually two timelines. After the adult link saga and after the child link saga. Finding a new hyrule is in one and ALttP is probably in the other. I think it'd be awesome to see a Zelda were you do something different. Kind of like MM and LA. The possiblities are endless. But they would have to keep Zelda, because it's called the legend of Zelda.

Re: The end of the normal Zelda as we know it!

I actually first expected, since Nintendo said the next game would be based off of Wind Waker's graphics (LIARS!!!), that the story would continue from where TWW left off. I've still be
