Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

Whoa! Acording to GoNintendo The Legend Of Zelda The Twilight Princess is going to be huge. It's going to take 100 hours to do all of the side quests and the whole game!

Is it just me, or doesn't it matter anymore that they delayed it?

And according to me, it's wildly exaggerated. This thing has been floating around since E3 last year. It's bigger than OoT, but a marathon it ain't.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

100 hours? Thats crazy awesome!!! My computers messed up and i cant use links, but im sure that the website is accurate because i will probably take over 100 hours to finish TP seeing as how slow i am at completing Zelda games.

Considering how before they delayed it they said 80 hours of gameplay, and since they have delayed it 5 months, it makes sense that 20 hours of gameplay has been added. They are working on expanding the game, am i right?

Really? Because Nintendo (the official one) stated early on that the game would take a minimum of 70 hours to complete. Fact is on my side.

In any case, the delay never bugged me that much. Of course, I'm grateful that they are putting forth the extra effort, but you can't deny that you wouldn't mind traveling into the future and getting your copy right away. Nevertheless, I have continually growing urges to work for the Super Mario Club. How can there be a better way to live than to get paid for playing video games 24/7?

I am tempted to mention, though, that us advanced gamers will probably whiz through the game in under 80 hours if the 100 hours statement is true. After all, tWW was said to contain 40 hours of gameplay. My friend and I completed the game (all but one sidequest) in two days. We played for about seven hours each of those days (would have played more, but his mom wouldn't let us ). I can only imagine that our TP experience will be proportional in comparison.

But you have to remember that tww was targeted at an younger audience than TP is. And thats why it was so easy. Then on the other hand, you might finish this in 4o hours if you think it is as easy as tww.

What makes you thin the tWW was targerted at a younger audience? The cell-shaded graphics? I do admit it was easier than some Zelda games, but its definetly not targeted entirely for the younger generation.

I think so because I read i somewhere, that TP is targeted at a more grown up audience than TWW therefor I can say that TWW is targeted at a younger audience. And No It's not because the cel-shaded graphics, because I love that graphic presentation in TWW. So Please don't say that I'm one of those who hated TWW, because then you're lying.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

Actually, no. It's targetting an American audience. Let's just hope they don't do so in the conventional way, because Americans aren't known for their intelligence or ingenuity. Sure, Bill Gates may be a technological genius, but he's nothing when it comes to imagination. Same goes for the rest of the Microsoft gaming segment.

In any case, I should point out to you that there has probably never been a game since the Atari that didn't exaggerate its playtime. OoT was said to take 50 hours (I think), 65 for MM, 70 for tWW, and now 100 for TP. If you spent 65 hours on MM, then I think you may have a serious need to reassert your nerditude. Let's be realistic, TP will not take a pro gamer 100 hours to complete. But even if we divide that playtime by half (which is usually somewhat close to the real game time) that still leaves us with 50 hours of gameplay! That's quite a bit, considering the length of other Zelda games. But let's take that a step further and divide it by a quarter. Now we have a total of 25 hours of gameplay, which is almost twice the time of my first runthrough on tWW! See, now that gets me excited. Figures and real numbers are very different in this market--they're targetting the casual audience with that playtime count, and even third-generation Zelda vets like myself breeze through games that tear the *cough* official *cough* playtime count to shreds. Fortunately, it looks like TP won't have that problem. As you can imagine, I'm very pleased.

Would you rather have a crappy game now, or a mind-blowing game later? And why do I have a feeling that your answer won't be the same as mine? Seriously, think about it on the grand scale. There are several things in TP that everyone could clearly see needed further development. I'd rather they fixed those little tidbits before throwing the product at us. Besides, if TSA is to be believed (and I believe he is), then the game was nowhere near completion when Nintendo released the demo. If that's the case, then I'd much rather wait. Anyone would be foolish for wanting a half-assed game now than a fully realized one later.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

I doubt that it will actually be 100 hours long. First this is how long the "average gamer" should take to finish it and they probably think that the average gamer will see every dungeon twice. If I remember correctly they said wind waker had fourty hours game play which it most certainly did not.

But who knows....

Anything can happen (well not anything).

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

Yeah, they are targeting American audience, but I think I read it somewhere, can't remember where. But your dividing proof is a great proof if you ask me. Some people like you might finish the game in 25 hours, I might do it in 50 if I'm lucy and Nintendos statement is right. before you guys start spaming "noob" and such, I'm not the typical hardcore gamer, I prioritize school before videogames, just so you know

But Nintendo wouldn't say 70 hours at E3 and now 100 hours if they didn't have any reasons to do so. Perhaps they have made more sidequests? or just added fishing hunting petcaring ala nintendogs, many nes games to unlock, multiplayer etc etc.??

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

ToS boasted 80 hours of gameplay, but I beat it in 52. I've got a feeling that this will take around 85-90 hours instead. I take my sweet time with Zelda games, so I might play around 110-115.

I used to play through them slowly until i developed my skill im pretty fast now. But 100 hours is a long game its going to freakin great. Wonder how long i can cut it down to?

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

If the guy who set the OoT playtime record brings it down to 40, I bet I could do it in 50 at least. Sure, I'd have to memorize every tiny step, but that's one of my specialties in gaming! That, and my wonderful ability to adapt to any control scheme in under twenty minutes.

40 hours?

I think you'll find it's nearer five.

100 hours? *pants explode*

>.>

Ok even though I'll definately finish it faster it will still be longer than any game i've ever played, and I still play Oot once in a while, now, if TP is supposed to surpass Oot, then I can see myself still playing TP in 10 years...

*pants explode again*

Motion capture is the process of taking the 3-D movements of live actors and importing them into a computer program, and then using those movements in a game or other visual, computer generated medium such as a movie scene. It basically allows much more realistic character movement with much less work from the animators, as they can just take the animations from real life.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

and it tends to lead to a better running and playing game too-look at MGS1's animation and compare it with the later-MGS1 didnt use motion capture but 2 and 3 did in 2 and 3's characters animated MUCH better.
