Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

Now that we're speaking of the Revolution and controller (off-topic, btw), I'm gonna get it. Not because it looks better than the 360 (which it doesn't, IMO), not because the controller's better (which I cannot decide upon, seeing how I've yet to use it), but because it's Nintendo's. Call me a fanboy, but I've always been a Nintendo customer. I'll most likely get the 360 too, but the Revolution is for sure.

Now, on topic. If Nintendo (you know, the company? The game company that's making the game, not a magazine, unless it's an official Nintendo magazine, or a magazine that's not official but has official news from the Official Nintendo) says it has 100 hours, I'm gonna assume it's around there, and that it is a very long game. However, if it's just some people who wanna hope and say that the game will be 100 hours, and have absolutely no proof at all or word from Nintendo as to this statement, I'm gonna try to ignore it and wait until Nintendo says something.

I am sooo tempted to comment on this, but that would go against Shiek84 and SilentJoe, some of the more respectable members of the community, and so I shall hold my tongue.

And yes, to whoever asked, the so-claimed 100 hours includes sidequests such as heart piece hunting and a possible trading sequence (absurdly oversized sword, anyone?). I still say that it won't take me any longer than 40 hours to complete the game, but there's always the possibility that I'm wrong, or so some people tell me.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

I'm afrai i have to disagree with you there, and i'm going to take the offical word that it could last aorund 100 hours. what concerns me is tho is not wthere or not it actually does live up to this claim, but if it stays fresh and interesting. It would be a major kick in the nuts if it eventually came out and we found that alot of the puzzles and objectives were rehashed ideas from old games or worse still just ideas that are re-used from the same game but in slightly altered circumstances.

i'm confident the will be little chandce of this, afterall, when have nintendo ever done that to us before? but i just hope they have managed to pack the full gametime with as many fresh ideas as they can pack into a shorter game.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

As many? If it does manage to live up to this claim, which is highly doubtful, there'd better be more fresh ideas than in a shorter game. Given, of course, that a "shorter game," as you call it, is somewhere between 15-30 hours for the average gamer.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

i meant as many fresh ideas comparatively, so that there would be as many new ideas for each section as there would be in each section of say majoras mask, which had so much more replay value for all the ideas packed into it.

basically, as long as the 100 hours doesnt feel like a chore i'll be happy.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

Nah, Nintendo learned from tWW's Triforce Fetch-It quest. In fact, Eiji publically apologized for it. Personally, I found the quest to be a very positive experience because it kept my mind on a single, constant goal: Returning to Princess Zelda's side.

But anyway, the point is that they won't fall in the same hole twice. The Zelda crew, in particular, is aware of their previous so-called "mistake", and they won't do it again.

woah

as long as its bigger than OOT, which was quite long in itself with all sidequests, I will be very happy. MM and WW were just too damn short, without many bosses or challenges. In one aspect i was happy, in another i was unimpressed.

100 hours is almost too much.

I won't have time to get everything.

Of course, when they say 100 hours, I'll probably do it around 60 or so. Or at least it will feel like it.

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

given that i'm definately an explorer type (and cuz i don't really use guides) i will likely get a few months of play out of my first run through.
I'm really excited by this news, though, yes, the absolute CORE BASIC game, as in just to get to the credits will likely be around 40-50 if played straight, but who's gonna play a Zelda game straight the first time?

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

I believe the 100 hours of gameplay thing. Finally, a Zelda game that will last for a long time, and I won't feel guilty because my mom won't have spent so much money for me to be done with it in a week! But the 100 hours is added up from leisure time and sidequests and stuff. The game is actually about half that time.

100 hours of gameplay sounds pretty good to me. A Zelda which will atleast take some time to finish.

100 hours... thats alot. This remindes me of a song: "Its the end of the zelda game as we know it"( not actully a song, but named after one).

Re: Whoa, 100 hours of gameplay!

Think about it people! GTA:SA didn't even take that long, and a quarter of my time was probably just roaming around. Do you know how many dungeons it would take to have a 100 hour game? I wouldn't even want it that long, it would probably get old. I got tired of San Andreas towards the end. I do think about 20 dungeons would be good though.
