Different Gameplay?

Do you think TP should have more interactive qualities like cooking (although it would be weird), link falling in love, or purchasing weapons?

Re: Different Gameplay?

I personally would love to have a more domestic aspect to the game.

- Link interacts with the villagers
- Link collects and cooks food
- Link grows crops
- Link has a garden near his home which he cantend to
- Link has animals on his property which he can breed and sell

I guess I would like to see a bit of Harvest Moon or The Sims come through in the game. I know some people would absolutely despise this aspect, but they can just not play that part.

In this game you're inventing here, when does Link have time to save Hyrule? Adding too much of this type of stuff would seriously detract from the focus of the game as it is intended.

May I ask when does Link have time to fish in OoT then?

When was there time to take pictographs of every character in TWW?

What I was typing was just a few examples of domestic activites i think would be interesting within the game. People don't need to actually participate in these activities, but it adds an extra element and replay value to the game.

Now people, don't start a flame fest in the Future zelda forums. That's only for the SD forum.

Anyway, I think it would be interesting if link had a little more interaction with NPC's. You could talk with them a trade with them. It'd be better than just going to a shop. Or at least, I think so. If you could take care of cattle and selling them would be a nice touch as well. But I just hope there won't be too many, or you won't have time to do the main quest.

Sure, abso-positive-a-lutely no, and abso-positive-a-lutely YES!

And purchasing armor. And upgrading armor and weapons. And combat exercises (i.e. training with dummies to learn new figthing techniques [like the hurricane spin in tWW]). YAY!

Fishing in OoT and Pictographing in tWW (Hell, even that annoying statuette quest) all took place while Link was "on the road" so to speak. He could do these things while out saving the submerged kingdom. What you propose, that Link set up a farm and raise a bumper crop, couldn't be done while out adventuring. The games are about a domestic, untravelled boy or young man, who is forced into leaving -LEAVING- home and becoming an adventurer. Taking on a new life, leaving the old farm behind.

Sorry, it simply doesn't fit with the character. Now, hunting game and trading it with various NPCs would be great.

These were were mere sidequests that you could play if you were stuck in a dungeon, not some sidequest that distracts you from the main quest for hours on end. Plus cooking isnt zelda like, its more RPGish, and zelda is a more simplist game. I can compliment you on the idea, though i don't really like myself. Sounds like something you would do in Fable.

Re: Different Gameplay?

What about when Link has finished saving all of the temples?

It seems to me that most people fear these elements in a Zelda game because they beleive it will destroy the epic feeling of the game, I personally feel it would heighten this feeling, not hinder. If Link was constantly fighting enemies, or rescuing damsels in distress, then when he fights someone like Ganon, it doesn't appear as magnificant.

So, because in OoT, for example, you had the options to go on sidequests, play minigames, go fishing or chat with the locals, the comparison between catching the 8 pound fish and slaughtering Ganon becomes huge.

I understand where you are coming at with respect to some of these tasks being 'unzeldaish', but I know some people who feel that Bomchu Bowling doesn't suit, but I just say 'each to their own'.

I also feel that some people need Link to participate in 'masculine' activities such as hunting and swordfighting. But, when someone suggests a domestic, possibly more 'feminine' activity for Link, people get quite defensive. It reminds me of fanfics where Link has a relationship with another man and people go insane defending Link's sexuality. Remember everyone, Link is who we want him to be.

Anyway, I was merely throwing out some new ideas that I personally would love to see in a Zelda game. No need for anyone to go and get chuffed about this topic, it is just a bit of fun!

Re: Different Gameplay?

More human detail would be nice, but these domestic activities would take away from the game.
