revolution sword fighting techniques?
ok, i've just thought of something.
All this speculation about whether a revolution zelda game would havea sword fighting feature, whereby you the player can control link,s sword with your revo controller, has lead me to wonder about Link's shield and which hand you would have to use for the sword. as i'm sure most people know, Link holds his sword in his left hand and uses his dominant hand to hold the sheild in the classic style. so if we the player control his sword, would we have to hold it in our left hand to avoid confusion, or would Link just drop the shield and allow the player to play with whichever hand they feel comfortable? perhaps we have the theory all wrong and nintendo would want to go back to basics on battle technique, making us use the pointer as a sheild to move around and push back enemies as they were designed to do and only have the sword function asigned to one of the z triggers on the nunchuk add on? what you reckon?

Re: revolution sword fighting techniques?
Well, pard'ner, I reckon that it won't matter which hand you hold the controller in. If you make a downward swipe from left to right, so will Link. If you make a sweeping slash across from right to left, so will Link, and so forth. I don't think that the Revo swordfighting will be *so* complex as to necessitate holding the controller in the same hand as Link.
Besides, the controller is reversible. If you want to hold the sword in the same hand as Link, go for it. Hold the remote in your left and the nunchuk dongle in your right! What's stopping you? That's part of the beauty of the new controller. Ambidexterity.

Re: revolution sword fighting techniques?
I don't think Direct control of Link's sword swiping is very Zelda-ish. It shifts gameplay focus too much from what it should be. Zelda is about Exploration first and Battle second, or third. Think metroid prime. If they removed the lock-on feature, made it a dual analog setup and made samus change weapons one-by one to make it more of a standard shooter setup, the gameplay would automatically be shifted from what it should be. It's not important for the player to manually aim for a target, because that's not what the game is about.
Now I don't know what they are going to do about control in Zelda for the Revolution, but I am assuming it will center around whatever new revolutionary toy they give link to interact with his environment. As the series is, I would have to put A as the standard action button (main button on controller), The Joystick (nunchuku attachment) for control, The B trigger on the controller for lock-on, and the Z1 and Z2 buttons (nunchuku attachment) for items. This idea is one i just amde up then, it's nowhere near what i hope they implement, as i dont know how well it would work, but until any of us plays a few different types of games with this new controller, none of us will be able to properly theorise on what they should do with it for Zelda, or any game.
