Future Zelda. 2005 a.d.

What if a zelda game where link came to the future. first he would have pants and a beanie instead of a cap. maybe. and fire arrows can be a flamethrower, there can be a freez ray for ice arrows, etc. What do you think? give some ideas of how to replace links setting (area, weapons, the way he looks, etc.) if you think its a dumb idea say why - apart from losing the style the games have. =]

That's the whole reason its a bad idea. And that's enough of a reason for it to never happen.

Anything modern + Zelda = End of the series

Re: Future Zelda. 2005 a.d.

Umm, I don't think that would really be a Zelda game. As link is not from Earth, it may not even be the future, now would it?

Re: Future Zelda. 2005 a.d.

Link is the character with the green cap. How else would we know him. Besides if he lived in this day and age he probably wouldn't wear a beanie (it doesn't fit his type).

There are no other reasons to give. Don't you think totally destroying everything Zelda is about is a good enough reason?

Then the game won't be a Zelda game. Zelda game's are special in the setting because it has a fantasy feel to it. People don't wield swords anymore. They have projectiles, such as guns. If link had guns and flamethrowers, then link just ... well, wouldn't be link .

Re: Future Zelda. 2005 a.d.

No, just, no...

The thought of having Link become a gun-toting Terminator clone screaming out his lungs, "DIE *****ES!!!!!!!!!!!!!" makes me want to throw up. It would destroy the Zelda feel. It's totally against the laws of fantasy. And overall, it's just a moronic idea.

Swords=Light Sabers

Oh, and it really wouldn't be Zelda if it was futuristic.

Re: Future Zelda. 2005 a.d.

well, i'm not going to say it's a stupid idea, because it's not. it's just not a zelda idea. here's a description of a zelda game:

hero in green garments and cap gets sword to defeat evil in a fantasy medievil-like setting

now, perhaps a game made with the same 3-D zelda style (i.e. 3rd person adventure-rpg, the 3 button weapon thing [c-buttons/x, y, and z]) but a different story and in a future setting would be cool. actually, i thought of one....PHANTASY STAR ONLINE....i mean, yea, it's a bit more of an rpg, but still, very similar

I Think you could take the Star Wars universe, and make someone go trough similar adventures as Link goes...since in Star wars you also have a world of fantasy

Are you crazy? This is a horrible idea! Zelda is its own age, its own style, you can't mess with that!
Link + Lightsaber = bad.

Re: Future Zelda. 2005 a.d.

Man, as soon as I saw the topic title, I knew all but about 2-3 posters would be saying "d00d liek u sux adn ur diea sux to lolololol".

Listen, as much as I agree that it wouldn't really be a Zelda game, seeing a game with the style of Zelda (traveling a world with a lot of items, going through dungeons, cool story, etc.) in a futuristic setting would be awesome. I personally wish that there were a LOT more games in the style of Zelda (I LOVED everything abot Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy except it's length (and that on the Xbox the attack button was B)). And I think that this idea would make an awesome game. BUT, putting the Zelda name on it wouldn't be a good idea IMO.

Anyways, to accually say something on the INTENDED topic, I think thayt you could have Bombs be Grenades and Bombchus an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade). That's all I can think of for now...

SJ

EDIT: Oh, VERY good one Amon_Knives. Why don't you just flame a guy for asking a question? And forget the fact that 2 people have said "Maybe." That's another good idea. I like that one.

I totally agree with you. The idea is kind of interesting but I don't think it would work as a Zelda game.

About the items thing, I think dungeon keys could be replaced by magnetic cards...

yeah man your idea sucks i think zelda cavemen would be a better direction or maybe if hyrule invented the wheel it'd be easier to get around but anything past the 1500s isnt zelda

Re: Future Zelda. 2005 a.d.

Being in the future would deminish most aspects of the tri-force and Royal family. There may still be a Royal family but not the same. Notice that in modern day there are so many religions and people who don't have religions. The Godesses may be a gone idea.

i wouldnt like to see that. i personally doubt they'll make it in furtue form. im asuming that they will probably just hange the game play or something for the furute games, but i doubt its ganna be any thing that bizzare.

No. if this happened Link would lose the man-skirt, and if that would happen it would be the end of the world as we know it.
