The Forsaken Fortress?

Would anyone else like to learn more about what exactly the 'Forsaken Fortress' is? I would certainly like to see information on its origins and history in a future Zelda game. Discuss and debate and speculate here!

SIDE TOPIC--Who knows? We may see a Zelda game that reveals the answers to most/all of Zelda's unsolved mysteries!

Re: The Forsaken Fortress?

As far as I know Forsaken Fortress is what is left over from the Gerudo Fortress. It is told in the game that it was supessed to be jused by thieves and also this is Ganonīs hideout wich makes a lot of sence. Since he is born in the gerudo tribe.

Is this confirmed? Are the Gerudos the 'pirates' that Tetra's men used to 'compete with?'

Re: The Forsaken Fortress?

Ocarina of Time could have come before OR after The Wind Waker. Correct me if I am wrong, but the very first Zelda game was in Hyrule, and it had Ganondorf has the evil man you were supposed to confront ... right? And you cast him down, right? So what if Ocarina of Time took place in the "new" Hyrule that they found when they set sail from Outset Island at the end of The Wind Waker? It is a distinct possibility.

So Forsaken Fortress could be something from the first Zelda game.

Re: The Forsaken Fortress?

I don't think there's anything special about it, I could be wrong of course. But Tetra said it used to be home to "small time pirates" that were there enemies.

not true. they specifically mention the hero of time in The Wind Waker, which is specifically from Ocarina of Time.

It would be. But in the prologue of TWW it is stated to be a sequel to the Hero of Time's story, which is OoT.

EDIT: Too slow in posting.

Re: The Forsaken Fortress?

Not everything in the Great Sea is left over from Hyrule. You have to realize that all this time has passed, there could be a history to the Great Sea after the flood. That fortress could be completely new and have nothing to do with old Hyrule.

But if it is from Hyrule, I'm guessing it was either ruins from one of OoT's temple or the remains of the Gerudo Fortess.

Re: The Forsaken Fortress?

In a screenshot from Twilight Princess, I saw a picture of what looked like gerudo desert, and lake hylia. Maybe they will take stuff from wind waker too, like the forsaken fortress. You never know with Zelda...

I think I agree with Raunmy, cuz ganondorf probly raised it....but then again, it is a jail, and why would ganondorf make his fortress a jail?

Re: The Forsaken Fortress?

Gerudo Fortress sounds logical seeing how they were thieves and all, however I am not sure about OoT's temple. The temple was very close to Hyrule Castle in OoT and in TWW they are very far apart. However Forsaken Fortress could just be a new thing not related to OoT at all.

Re: The Forsaken Fortress?

All I learned about the Forsaken Fortress from the game was that it was once a hideout for Pirates. It is also a cursed place (for some reason) and not long before the start of the game the pirates fled the Fortress for some reason. It is my guess that the Pirates were dabbling in dark arts and so broke the seal holding Ganondorf thus releasing him and turning the Fortress into the 'Forsaken Fortress'.

Re: The Forsaken Fortress?

I'm not so sure. Remember the wreckage of the ship that Ganondorf, Link and Tetra stood in? That was the interior of the ship which then burnt - because it was made with wood - by Valoo. Pirates use ships, and what could have happened is this:

Throught the order for select people to scale the mountains to avoid the flood, some Gerudo theives climbed the nearby mountains (deserts are caused by mountains) and avoided the flood that way and then built a ship to use.

However, that order did not happen in the timeframe of TP, and Gerudos live near the desert, not the mountain.
