This thread I would like to get a bit into how the full version will appear in terms of length from what we have seen from Toaru village demo, Temple demo ect.. When I played the Demos at E3 I had enough of a chance to explore everything, And in terms of length the area it did seem semi large, but I am having a hard time putting it into a scale of how it will appear in the final version. Of course a demo wont show you how large it will actually appear in the final version. I remeber playing the Wind Waker demo at E3 and in the local mall and I would say it was about 15 - 20 % of the Dragon Roost Cavern.
Twilight Princess on the other hand is supposed to offer much longer gameplay, temples, and overal everything. In my mind I guess Iam trying to find some sort of idea on how long it will actually be in terms of area, Not gameplay time because I wizzed through the Temple, of course knowing the basics of Zelda perfectly helped. I took Toaru Village as more of a Check out the area/graphics/ notice small things, and the Horse battle as more of a Just have pure fun. What my point is, When you watch the Forest Temple videos of the demo, how much longer do you believe the demo to be? or how much larger do you think Toaru village will be? A percentage % like I think Forest Temple will be 63% larger then the demo version. Ect.. Well Thats about it, I know TP will be amazing, I guess I am just looking for another reason based on others believing that the game will feature much longer and larger temples/areas even though we know. ![]() |

Re: Demo vs Full ( Lengths )
Well, it was said by one of the developers in one of those huge numbers of E3 interviews that the demo was more of a reflection of basic gameplay than a 'taste' of the actual final build of the game.
I can't even begin to guess, even after seeing all the demo videos, because they're probably going to change things before the final build, anyway. Weren't the Wind Waker demos different from the final version too? |

Re: Demo vs Full ( Lengths )
Firstly, the dungeon we were shown was modified from the final version, as were all the demos. The boomerang will not be gotten from a chest in the middle of an otherwise vacant room (the 'heart' of the dungeon which all the arteries follow from). All dungeon items from previous Zelda games(mostly anyway, there is the occasional underground side-scrolling cave) have been obtained via a mid-way boss. Moreso, that item was obtained before any other dungeon item.
The gale boomerang will be obtained AFTER fighting the evil baboon. You will get his boomerang, the evil spell that was cast over him will be gone, and you will use the 4 mopnkeys you get in the dungeon to cross the gap the baboon created (in demo, throws boomerang, cuts bridge). I will eat my hat if this isnt true. The reason they changed it for the demo is too show off a new item, and open the dungeona bit more from the get-go. I would say the marauder battle was shortened in terms of his overall health, and you weren't able to go indoors in the village, not to mention all the stuff you would want to do while there. Aonuma-san has said that the target length for dungeons is 1 hour. i think something more like 1.5-2 is better, but whatever, he's the director dude. One thing i think you shopuld be comforted with though, is that Nintendo is raving about this game as if the world will face the apocalypse without it. They have said they want it to surpass OoT, and I am confident that they know what they are saying. Zelda is going to save nintendo this holiday season. The one thing that makes me a little uneasy though id the timetable. While I am confident it will arrive on time and not face any major delays, The fact that it HAS to be out before the holidays will mean that there is no room for nintendo to say "yeah, its good for gold, but i reckon we can do soemthing here...". If need be, they should just grab some people from another division or studio to help with soem tasks. PS. what position were you in to play the demo. I only ask becuase there are a lot of people on the forums to 'claim' to do these things, yet never back up their statements with facts and such. Sorry if you actually did play the demo, i would just like some sort of response. Liars **** me

Re: Demo vs Full ( Lengths )
In an issue of EGM, a guy visited Nintendo before E3 and got to play some of the game. He said that in the Marauder Battle, he first had to remove all the Chieftan's armor then pelt him with arrows before the bridge joust.
As for the Forest Temple, I think HarmanStlefish is right and you'll get the boomerang after the Baboon battle. It seems like too much of a coincidence that he has his own boomerang and you weren't allowed to use yours in the demo. The monkey-finding part of the temple probably won't require the boomerang- in the demo there were only a few puzzles that required it. And if you just get the boomerang from the Baboon fight, then there will probably be a lot of area left in the Forest Temple after that. |
