Post Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

Ok so I'm gonna make it simple for you guys. Who here believes that OoT deserves a remake or even a sequel in the future???? Why or why not???? . I personally would totally LOVE to see a remake or even better a sequel of this game which I consider the best video game ever made. What do you guys think????

P.S I'm sorry if somebody already made a thread like this one.

Yea that would be good if they had a sequel but theres something good about having a completely new game but some way linked to the other.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

Look, I know Ocarina of Time was a great game. It was a VERY great game. But what you need to understand is, is that there are OTHER great ideas out there just waiting to be made into future games. New ideas that offer new styles, new stories, new gameplay mechanics. Do you really want to just have the same story, told the same way, in the same basic framework told over and over again, instead of having brand new stories which could be better? Change is GOOD! Stop living in the past! You're actually encouraging developers to just be lazy and rehash old ideas that worked! It's BAAAAD!

Get it?

Yup, agree.

OoT was a great game indeed. It had it's flaws but what the heck. And a OoT remake is definetly not something you want, trust me. You would think that they would make the game better as it is now, like the game gods they are. Well they just aren't, remaking games isn't just good for buissness.
Firstly, it's all about the graphics. Because when making that game, the good part that still lives now is the gameplay. And that already had his lot of attention when making the game at first. So when they would remake it and change some of the gameplay, and the crowd wouldnt like it. It is just veery bad for buissness. Really, when did you ever see a good tetris game that was gameplaywise really any better than just the retro one? One that sold. It was all the rage in the old times and the programmers brought it on the market unfinished too due to their addiction to it.
Same goes for OoT, leave the legend as it is. Be open for new ideas, some of them will be bad, but some will be good.
So just hook up your N64 and relive the old days, because those are probably not coming back.

...except for MQ yes...I hated that one, because up till then I played OoT so many times already that when I found it all different and harder and got stuck and knew how the story would went anyways I just quitted it and played WW again.

I think it would be a great idea if it was a side project. Redo the graphics and use the new engine. I would be interested in playing it. It could be released as a preorder bonus for tp or something.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

Usually in a thread like this, I'd throw in my Two cents...but this one is hard to argue for me. I acually agree with both sides. A remake with better graphics would be the greatest thing to happen for the Zelda series, but if that happens, that should be the end of it...let it be. Like Thorn says, stop living in the past. But I still believe OOT should go out with a bang, then remain a classic without stupid remakes.

I understand both of you guys' points of view, but also a remake doesn't have to feature the same mechanics, maybe they could add a lot of new moves and more side quests, maybe adeas that they didn't put it in the original game for some reason. I also strongly believe that a remake at this time is not a good idea at all, but somewhere in the future when ideas are running out, then a remake of the greatest game of the series could come very handy, just like Square is teasing its fans with that demo of Final Fantasy VII that they are launching, maybe Nintendo could do the same in the future and I'm 100% sure that all of you people against a remake will change your minds by that time, in fact I can't understand how a person is against a remake of OoT and still consider themselves to be real Zelda fans, I just don't get it.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

People, don't be pooheads. The first guy to respond to this thread spelt BONUS wrong - I spent at least 2 minutes trying to figure out why The Wind Waker apparently came with 'bones'. And somewhere along the line, I was trying to remember the good old days when I was playing 'Majors Mask' on my N64. I failed. Maybe that's because it was called Majora's Mask. Don't be a nasty poohead and then make a poo out of yourself.

I reckon Ocarina of Time deserves a remake, with no changes to the gameplay/quest/storyline - only the graphics. The graphics should be updated, and only the graphics. ONLY the graphics. Nothing but the graphics. Lalalallala. I would buy it. I would buy it with money!!! MY money. Or possibly someone else's money.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

I'd rather have a LttP-Remake, really. Imho it's the last game in the Zelda timeline and it deserves a remake. "And the Master Sword... It rests again... Forever" still sends shivers down my spine.

I find that quite offensive. I consider myself to be a Zelda fan because I have faith that whatever vision Nintendo brings to Zelda, it will not fail to entertain me. And I am against a remake of OoT because in my honest opinion, it would be a waste of time, money and resources that would be better put to use making new games.

While I can't say it will never happen (they did remake Super Mario Bros. after all so it has happened in the past with other games) I am confident that Miyamoto is 100% dedicated to innovation, not replication.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

Remakes of Zelda games? No way. Ocarina of Time was an excellent game and a remake would likely be inferior in some way or another...I'd much rather enjoy new content than repackaged games that I've already played.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

I'm in for new games mostly, but this dosen't sound like the greatest of ventures. Simply porting the game to more updated consoles won't help at all. Graphics need to be put in effect for the sake of the new, less considerate generation , and well, the original package is probably the best anyway. I like the idea, but seeing as Ocarina of Time set up a good template for a 3-D Zelda game regardless, it dosen't matter too much.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

Twilight Princess is a couple decades after OoT, so there might be the same places and people. So just be happy with that, it'll probably be a better game too.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

People don't get me wrong I'm not saying that a remake is better than new ideas. The only thing I said is that it would be nice for a remake, I'm not saying that I'm dying for it, so guys just think about it this way, What I'm trying to say is that The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time is just one of the many great games that DESERVES (it doesn't mean it has to be done no matter what) a remake and that you can't deny. Does that sound better?. Plus I shouldn't be going thru all of this posting to get my point across, you guys just can't seem to respect others' opinions.

Oh please, I don't know why everyone wants a remake of this game.

The game was perfect as it was. Its has been brang back about three times now to Nintendo Gamecube... Its HAD its day, and serverd its purpose as one of the best Zelda Games ever.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

It has been BROUGHT back three times. BROUGHT. And how has it been brought back three times? There was the original, master quest as a bonus with The Wind Waker, and what else?! The gamecube bundle? They're the same game - exactly the same game. Aside from the extra baddies in Master Quest, they are exactly the same in appearance and gameplay.

When we say remake, we mean REMAKE. That is an improvement to the graphics. A major improvement. A majorly major improvement.

If you are completly revising everything in the game you can just as good make a new game which is much more appreciated. It takes more time completely redoing an old game than making a new one. And then I don't mean in real time. It is something you just can't ask from the devs to do, it is a paining and boring thing to do, so it takes more time for them. It is more fun for them and us, to put all their energy in a completely new game.

I myself once had a very old drawing I had worked on once lying around, I thought by myself that I could ways better now and could completely revitalise that idea. But I didn't, you know why? Because it can be boring to redo things of the past, and it is not good for you either, you need to go further and not get stuck in the old past.

Re: Ocarina Of Time's Remake.

That's why I'm going to buy Twilight Princess. But if a remake of Ocarina of Time came out with incredibly incredble graphics, I would buy that too, simply because it was a fun game the first time round and with the new graphics it will probably be an enhanced experience. Sometimes it's nice to go back to the things that made you love whatever it is you love to love because you love the things you love because the thing you didn't know you loved made you love whatever it is you love now. If you're confused, GOOD! Now go to sleep.

EDIT: Anyway, now that I'm bored of being the idiot I truly am, I should probably tell you what I meant to say when I started to be.. an idiot.

The Zelda experience, for me, began with Ocarina of Time. I was just a little boy, not big, not small - little. My brother got a Nintendo 64 and borrowed his friend's copy of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I played it, and tried to become an adult, and failed miserably, and stopped playing!!!!! Then about a year later I actually bought the game myself AND PLAYED IT AND IT WAS KICKASS AND I LIKED IT AND I DIDn"T HATE IT BECAUSE IT WAS COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thing is, if I never played it when I was a little dude, I would have never bought Majora's Mask, or the Oracle Games, or Four Swords, or The Wind waker, or any other Zelda games I've bought!!!!!! And I certainly wouldn't be hyped about Twilight Princess.

OCARINA OF TIME OPENED THE DOOR OF TIME TO THE ZELDA SERIES FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd like to see it brought back into a more advanced generation of gaming experiences. It would be a credit to the super cool kickass peoples that made it and to the people that fell in love with the franchise because of it!!!!!!!!

It's the best god damn game I ever did play, and if Twilight Princess is better I'LL STILL LOVE OCARINA OF TIME BECAUSE IT OWNZ!!!!!!!!!!!

And cheese burgers are $2 for 2 at Hungry Jacks now. XD
